  1. Steam: IronEres

    PSN: IronEren

    3DS: 3239-6142-9204

Nowadays, I'm mostly on Steam playing Fallout 3 or Diablo 3. I just got a gaming PC, so my library is very small. Diablo 3 has most of my attention, and I occasionally play Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate on my 3DS. I have Borderlands 2 on my library as well, but I rarely play it after my many playthroughs.

  2. Lance is a fantastic Defense weapon!

It's arguably weaker (slower) without Evasion +3 though. Each time you backstep, you're virtually invincible. Being able to dodge the monsters' attacks swiftly and without moving too far away can really improve hunting times.

Having used HBG 800 times in 4u and plenty of others, i can honestly say its neither made for mobility OR support, but it's a heavy hitter. In terms of support, Hunting Horn is the king. LBG comes pretty close, and of course bow is an all rounder mobile/support. If you want maximum mobility for ranged weps, I suggest the bow (which can also play a support role)

Oh, I forgot to mention that I'm a guard lancer. The charge blade got my interest, when I found out about guard pointing. Thanks for the info on the gunner weapons, too. I think I'm getting close to finding my preferred weapon classes!

  3. The Main Story Quest rewards 110 gear at level 50 now, so even though you're new, you'll have good gear for Heavensward. As for a static, I can't really tell you where to go, but Behemoth and Gilgamesh are very well populated, so you should be able to find one quickly, and the Party Finder always has something up.

Thanks for the information. I'm glad that gear shouldn't be too much of a problem, thanks to the main questline. I was hoping that a few people on this thread were part of the same free company, but I guess the large variety of servers prevented that. I'm looking into rejoining very soon. The new content looks very exciting.

Edit: I checked out the monthly subscription fee, and it adds up pretty high, especially compared to my Xbox Live Gold subscription. I have to pay $17 more for the former, and that's only for half a year. For a full year of Xbox Live Gold, I pay less than half a year of XIV.

It may be expensive for me, but I'm sure it's not for others. For those who aren't concerned about the subscription, I hope you enjoy the game, because it's a very enjoyable experience.

  4. I've got two problems to deal with. The first one is about my current pace after starting over. Thanks to college, my progression has slowed down considerably, and I'm not even near high rank caravan! I was hyped about hunting online with people here, but I doubt that will happen anytime soon.

My second problem isn't as bad. I'm trying to main three weapon classes. I'm keeping greatsword in the list, but lance and charge blade are competing for the second spot. For the third spot, I'm going for a more mobile/support weapon. the weapons that I'm considering for that spot are the sword and shield, the bow, and the light bowgun. The heavy bowgun is a possibility, too. The weapon loadout that I'm going for is one heavy hitting weapon, one defensive weapon, and a mobile/support weapon.

That's pretty much it. If anyone doesn't mind, I'd like advice/feedback on the weapon loadout. Also, are there any hunters who are currently starting or are close to the beginning? I'm pretty much desperate enough to look for other hunters working on hr1 quests.

  5. It has nearly been a year since I've played FFXIV! I decided to drop the game, since I couldn't get a good gaming group and I hate playing MMORPGs solo. I pretty much tanked only, so I had a high level paladin while I was working on warrior. I do miss XIV, and I'm leaning toward coming back, though. If I do, I'm starting from scratch.

Does anyone here have a friendly beginning to endgame group that's open to new members? Playing with randoms that get pissed off from one mistake kinda turned me off from the game.

  6. I decided to upgrade to a new 3ds XL recently, and thanks to Nintendo's restrictions and Gamestop, I couldn't transfer my data. Now, I'm starting over after losing 150+ hours! :baconmane:  It's not too bad, though. I still enjoy 4U, and I'm still trying to find the best weapon class for me.

  7. I thought that trying arena would narrow down my preferred weapon, but it only made things worse! Almost all blademaster choices look appealing...

    @FortyTwo42:

I haven't reached G-rank yet, but I might be able to help. All three skills that you mentioned are great, in my opinion. About evade, it depends on which weapon you're using and how comfortable you are with evading. If you have great timing and reflexes, you might not even need Evade+2. If you can settle with Evade+1, it might leave some room for other skills or improvements.

  8. I used to think that I'm at my best with defensive weapons like the lance and gunlance, until I used the greatsword. Its power is unbelievable, and I don't need to worry about elements! It surprised me multiple times, because it felt like a hunt ended too quickly. If I need to take down a monster with sheer power, I know which weapon I'll use!

  9. (This rant isn't targeted towards any of you. I'm just venting about randoms online.)

I'm honestly tired of playing online, only to get my hopes ruined. I shouldn't have even bothered trying to play with randoms. There's no point in giving your lobby a name that implies all are welcome, if you're just gonna kick someone within seconds after they say hello. I'll just solo my way through everything, just like I did in 3U. Nothing seems too difficult, anyway. I'd rather take down a Deviljho alone than wade through a bunch of jerks to find a good online group. Knowing my luck, a good majority of my peers on campus probably refuse to allow anyone in their tight-knit, secluded group. It's their loss, not mine.

  10. I'm honestly stuck on a tough choice. I've just hunted a Gore Magala during a 5* caravan quest, but I'm pretty sure I'm not even remotely close to leaping into online. I don't know if I should keep trying to catch up, or just give up and play at my own leisure.

  11. What about "flying feather" or "horse apples"? I can only recall those two, at the moment. Since countryisms exist in Equestria, "tarnation" and plenty others could also apply.

  12. If you make a set with Taunt, I'd be very interested to see how well a tanking strategy like this will work. Out of the weapons I use, the Hunting Horn and the Bow would probably benefit a lot from not being targeted. I could also add Sneak to my armor set to make sure the monster targets you even more. I'd love to hunt with you to try out this unique strategy sometime!

Nice idea! I can't get the set right now, but it will be one of my main sets. I was slacking off for the past few weeks, but now I'm trying to catch up to everyone here. I'm still stuck on offline Lv 4!

  13. I've given the Gunlance a chance, and I'm happy that I did! That weapon and the Lance have great reach and blocking ability. My only problem with the Gunlance is its evasive ability and vulnerability after attacking. This gives the impression that the Gunlance is heavier than the Lance; probably because of its shelling ability.

I've nearly finished obtaining parts of the Barroth set, after getting a Gypceros head. After I find monster bone L, I'll have that awesome Guard +1 set! I also can't wait to get the Lava armor set; Guard +1 and Taunt seems like the combination that might allow tanking. Tanking is pretty much my favorite role in any RPG.

  14. Alrighty then guys. I'd like to see a show of hands for who'd like to participate in this Mh4u PM. There's a few of you who've already nodded confirmation, and well, I don't see it happening unless I make it a proper thing in motion. Here, we'll basically discuss times we're online and arrange gathering hall meetings. I'll also put my 3DS friend code there, and I expect you guys to do so too.

I just see it as a great opportunity for us on the forum to come together to hunt instead of just talking about it! As some others so kindly pointed out before, it does save interrupting the flow of conversation and a whole heap of unnecessary posting.

Yeah, so just give a shout if you want in!

Awesome idea! I'll drop in my friend code as well. I recently repelled low rank Gore Magala, but I'm more than willing to help and hunt with those close to my progress range.

  15. According to what I've seen in G-rank, this would be the weapon popularity:

    Most popular:

    1. Insect Glaive (every guy and his dog has these babies)

    2. Charge Blade (similar story)

    3. Great Sword (only seem to be more common in G-rank)

    4. Long Sword (just decently common)

The amount of times I end up in a room with 3 insect Glaive users just isn't funny.. Same goes for charge blades.

    Least Popular:

    1. LBG (only seen 1 other than myself)

    2. Lance (around 2)

    3. HBG (maybe 5 or 6)

    4. Hunting Horn/ SnS (10 or so)

I've no idea where all the lancers have gone since MH Tri days. They were absolutely everywhere and i remember being steamrolled by novices constantly by those annoying charge attacks...My guess is that many have transferred to one of those newer weapons.

My fellow lancers.....are becoming EXTINCT? Or even abandoning such a sacred weapon, for a heavier simpleton's lance, with an artillery ability?  :(

*Curls into fetal position while holding tower shield, and lance*

Whoa, people actually prefer the SNS and Hunting Horn than Lance?!?  They're not bad weapons, but I thought most people would avoid going a support role. Speaking of roles, there should be an armor skill that allows a hunter to claim more aggro from a monster, in comparison to their allies. It'd be cool to actually defend allies, than simply perform a "stab-stab-counter stab" cycle; only defending myself!

  16. @Panne:

That story sounds miles more epic than my, "Smacked around multiple time, carting twice, annoyingly followed by two pathetic Shakalakas that left me open to multiple hits, as they didn't cast dance buffs, but annoyingly twerked instead, as I finally won after a long battle with my barely upgraded Ceadeus SNS."  story. Nice one!

  17. @FourtyTwo42:

Did I post the right friend code? My 3DS gave a message that you didn't add me yet. Also, it'd be awesome if you're planning on maining the Hunting Horn; we need to see a lot more of those kind of hunters!

Are Lancers rare online? It's my weapon of choice, with Charge Blade being very close, behind. Guard points are awesome, but being a walking fortress is more awesome to me.

I tried Gunlance, but I'd need Evade Extender to be close in skill, to a beginner Gunlancer! >_> Do any of y'all mind telling me the order of weapon popularity, according to what you've seen during online hunt?

I'm gathering most of you will probably relate to this at some point or another. Farming plates, gems, mantles and other rare items can be a freaking pain, no matter how many times you decide to hunt, luck is never on your side...!

Isn't this guy generous? He gave me a lot of gems to upgrade my SNS and Lance! Oh, wait....

That was Rathalos, who only gave me one ruby.

  18. Haven't got the chance to play MH4U, in a while. My recent achievement, was making a gathering god set, with my leather armor. I lent my Wii U to my twin brother, in case he want to give 3U a try.  He might be a gunner; we'd still make a badass duo, either way.

  19.

That sucks man. To be honest I've gotten into the habit of punching myself and other objects pretty hard on a regular basis out of frustration and anger, but I do it in my room where no one can see me because of issues like that.

It's no problem at all now, but I still appreciate it. I stopped hitting myself (excluding that day I was hallucinating) , and stayed faithful to that.  I wanted to irrationally vent, while suffering from being treated irrationally. They all haven't betrayed me, but I'm expecting some crocodile tears, during my funeral (dying on the line of duty as a police officer) from those certain two; who claim to love me more than I love them, just to storm out, every time their feelings are hurt. UGH...

  20. Think about the scope of humanity, how many times we will correct our own wrong.

Do the chances REALLY call for this to be the final prediction... or will there ever be?

For all I know, regardless of me being devoutly religious, we could all end up with similar qualities as the three pony tribes, in the future. That sounds fricken' awesome, by the way. Dunno If it'll happen.

Oh, I could go on for hours.

Longevity, Self-preservation, the list goes ON and ON

Don't forget about asexuality, due to religious reasons!

I jest; it might just be my case, though.

  21. My biggest fear is losing the people I love the most in some way, whether they die, contract a horrible disease that destroys their personality, sustain a serious brain injury, or something less extreme like them abandoning me.

Wow. That's pretty much, my biggest fear in a relationship.

To make matters worse, multiple things (and new (what a surprise) medication being added to my schedule), screwed me up so much, that I did so many stupid things; hit walls with fists, applied knee's to metal poles, headbutted a wall full force, etc; all without the intention of harming nobody, but simply venting. My first "temper tantrum", since childhood, could be perceived by law enforcement officers as "Being a danger to others, and being belligerent, or possibly intoxicated." All baseless claims supported by men and women, not  wearing their badges as a tribute to their duty to protect others, but as a safety badge, to protect themselves..

I'm not gonna bring that up here, though. I just wanted to say how all five (only two, of the same gender now, sadly) gave me a piece of Hell, as I perceived" their betrayal towards me.
