  1. Well the Pegasi are in charge of the weather so maybe they schedule winter for a few days/weeks intermittently throughout the year and we only get to see it in a couple of episodes without continuity.  :confused:

    I guess they have our seasons but their duration and time of appearance differs from our own.

  2. That line was somehow out of character by the writer's mistake, someone as fluttershy is unlikely to say something that like that, mostly because she knows how does it feel to be afraid on public, probably better than anypony else. She struggles, but on a much higher degree.

    I don't agree. It shows Fluttershy's growth. She has been trying to learn how to be assertive without being aggressive in several episodes ("Putting Your Hoof Down", "Keep Calm and Flutter On", "It Ain't Easy Being Breezies"), keeping her kind nature intact while also making a meaningful contribution. I mean she still cried after seeing RD cry, showing that she's still the normally sympathetic and sensitive Fluttershy.

    When a friend is going through some tough times, will you encourage them to keep their feelings bottled inside or tell them that they have to face the issue head-on and that you're willing to abet them in whichever way possible?

  3. 1. It's been demonstrated time and time again that the alicorns are willing to sacrifice themselves or something they love for the good, or what they perceive as good, for the ponies of Equestria. They may do something drastic or might seem morally wrong out of context--Celestia banning her sister--but in the end, they do what they think or know is righteous because they see it as their burden and responsibility. We've never heard of dark magic in the show technically if I remember correctly (it may be mentioned in the comics, but I don't know) and even though the color of Twilight's magic in that scene poses semblance to King Sombra's magic, it may just be a way to represent powerful magic that normal unicorns can't possess.

    I don't see how Zecora was controlling Twilight. She just created a potion she probably learned of through her experience with alchemy and potion-making in her youth or from her books and she knew it called for powerful alicorn magic to give the potion its full effect. Zecora did not use Twilight's magic herself and the magic Zecora has demonstrated thus far doesn't seem to even be unicorn magic. It is something entirely different. We also don't know how other zebras are like either.

    2. The symbols may just represent the alicorns who are tied to the Elements of Harmony of which Cadence isn't. Cadence is only tied to the Crystal Heart which is displayed on her cutie mark. Perhaps, Celestia and Luna give harmony to a more celestial (no pun intended) plane with keeping an orderly movement of the heavenly bodies while Twilight gives harmony to a more worldly plane by literally establishing harmony as the Princess of Friendship.

    3. No it doesn't. It's already been demonstrated that Cadence is an alicorn and she has no relation to the Tree of Harmony. But I don't think it's likely that Sunset will return to Equestria or be present in the TV show.

    4. The usage of the Elements depends on the user being linked with them in spirit as demonstrated in the first episode and the season 2 premiere (with how Celestia says that she and Luna are no longer connected to them and so cannot use them) and the references to Celestia and Luna's use of them in the past. The Tree of Harmony likely has some sort of defense mechanism to prevent them from being taken from those who aren't worthy, otherwise it would be strange that Discord would not attempt to do so during his rule. You could say ignorance, but he knew the position of the Tree of Harmony since he planted seeds of those vines to sprout from that location and weaken it. If the Tree of Harmony started weakening and after the Elements were separated from it for some time, then it must be difficult for it to release them.

    5. The potion isn't a reservoir for the alicorn magic to reside in. Twilight used it to change the potion from one form to another to give it its effect. Discord likely couldn't "extract" any magic from it and even if he could, its even less likely he can use alicorn magic for himself. He has his own type of chaotic magic that does not resemble any pony magic (comically demonstrated in the season 4 finale with Tirek wringing out a stream of plaid-colored magic from Discord).

  4. Another thing is that pony society isn't as technologically advanced as our own. Their isn't as much time for leisure and remaining sedentary all the time like there is here. Though they still have considerably more time for it than expected

    Food doesn't seem to be very abundant either as it isn't mass-produced, with the food in the bazaar Fluttershy went to "Putting Your Hoof Down" being in low quantity and prices in-flux dependent on supply, which cannot be maintained at a level consistent with demand in a less industrialized world. I mean with the Apple family, we know that they barely make ends meet according to Applejack and can't afford some important things like a hip replacement for Granny Smith even though they pretty much have a monopoly over a major food source in Ponyville (and likely they export to other places in Equestria). This is also with Sweet Apple Acres' famous Zap Apple Jam and cider that ponies line up for.

    So a combination of food not being as plentiful as in our world and with their more active lifestyles, there will be less widespread obesity in Equestrian societies.

    Image and reputation have been shown to be of more priority in larger cities (Canterlot in "Sweet and Elite" and Manehatten in "Rarity Takes Manehatten") which aren't a focus on the show as compared to the more quaint, humble life in Ponyville.

    Finally, we haven't seen fashion companies that have great advertising power to influence a great deal of ponies' decisions on clothing and how to look, likely because this world isn't as industrialized and clothing isn't a social norm.

  5. Last time they went with goals in mind that drained the fun out of spending time with each other like they did at Donut Joe's afterwards. Hopefully, this year they plan to turn it around by having fun with one another, considering each other's interests instead of focusing on their own individual pursuits. Their friendship is also a lot stronger this time around.

  6. Pretty sure that's cyanide.

    CN- is cyanide. CN4 is cyanazide but it has a different structure.

    Bayonetta's list is right. Green can be any halogen.

    1. 3,3,5,5-tetraX-1,2,4-trioxolane X could be fluoro, chloro or whatever

    2. 1,3-bistriXmethyl-trioxidane

    3. Dichlorine monoxide or maybe Oxygen difluoride?

    4. Methane

    5. Not sure

    This is hard. Can you tell us what the halogen is? Or if you guys are using a different model? Maybe someone who knows chem better can help.

  7. I think it might fit she works at some sort of shop of her own selling medicine or maybe beverages so the girls would actually meet her, or live by herself like in the show. If she were to work at the school, I'd see her as some sort of faculty member that administrates some of the activities at the school (maybe takes care of all the chemicals for the chemistry lab?) but doesn't actively speak with any of the students but if you approach her, she's filled with sagacity and wisdom. She'd be one of those type of people who are really experienced and intelligent and you wouldn't expect them to be in the job that they're in.

    She probably just didn't have any "role" in the movies.

  8. It was fun to think of at least  :muffins: :

    1. NM destroys physical Elements (but their magic go back to Tree of Harmony). Having a part of Luna still in her, she decides to forgive the Mane 6 and they leave. NM kills Celestia out of envy and vengeance. She makes everlasting darkness and decides to go to Canterlot to rule.

    2. Cadence learns of these events from Shining Armor as the Equestrian military struggle against NM and her moon pony army and she learns of Celestia's plans to revive the Elements of Harmony through Twilight and her new friends, so she goes to Ponyville and tells the Mane 6 to come with her. Applejack and Rarity bring their families naturally.

    3. Cadence's plan is to revive the Crystal Empire and using it as a stronghold while she teaches Twilight special magic she learned under Celestia's tutelage and giving a place for the ReMane-ing 5 to train as well. They go on a quest to find certain spells and such and eventually are successful in their attempt.

    4. They revive the Crystal Heart to protect the Empire from NM. They inadvertently also prevent Sombra from attacking the Empire, however, they did not realize his return. In the Crystal Empire, there's a feeling of safety so the Mane 6's friendship grows and their bond becomes stronger. Applebloom and Sweetie Belle form the CMC but because Scoots never came, she's not part of it.  :(

    5. NM has won and she is the sole ruler of Equestria. She imprisons Shining Armor and other members of the Royal Guard and the military who do not acquiesce to her rule. Disharmony and fear rage on throughout Equestria, so Discord escapes from the encasement of his stone prison. He defeats NM and rules over Equestria. NM knows that Discord will rule as he did a thousand years ago and that she needs the help of the Elements of Harmony who she still believes are alive. She releases Shining Armor and explains her change of heart. Shining reluctantly leads her to the Crystal Empire where NM tells them of the Tree of Harmony.

    6. The Mane 6, Cadence, and NM go to the Tree of Harmony and the Mane 6's presence forms a new physical manifestation of the Elements in the shape of their respective cutie marks. They use its magic to revert Discord into a statue. NM asks for forgiveness and realizes that her current style of reigning will only lead to ponies fearing and hating her, leading to greater disharmony in Equestria. They use the Elements against her willingly and she becomes Luna once more.

    7. Luna now rules over Equestria as a benevolent ruler as does Cadence the Crystal Empire. There is a ceremony to commemorate Celestia. Luna says she can train Twilight as Celestia did before in Canterlot, but Twilight says she wants to stay with her friends. More slice-of-life moments to establish the relationship between the Mane 6 as they go back to Ponyville. Luna does not see Twilight having the same potential as Celestia did so she does not give her Starswirl's incomplete spell which would result into her ascendance into an alicorn state. At some point Cerberus leaves his guard at Tartarus.

    8. Tirek appears. As Celestia is the only one shown to have premonitions, Equestria is woefully unprepared to deal with him but Luna manages to give her powers to Cadence. Tirek dominates all who oppose him, so the Mane 6 and Cadence go into hiding in the Crystal Empire, the revival of which is unbeknownst to Tirek.

    9. Discord breaks out of his shell once more due to the great fear and disharmony surrounding Equestria and, upon his arrival, realizes that he cannot defeat Tirek. He strikes a deal with the Mane 6 and Cadence to defeat Tirek and, all the while, a bond grows between Discord and Fluttershy, leading him to become reformed at least to some extent. Discord goes to Tirek and states that he knows the location of Princess Cadence, the possessor of the alicorn magic that he so yearns, and that Celestia has been killed beforehand. He leads Tirek to the Everfree Forest where magical black vines emerge from the ground to hold Tirek in place. His struggles make no difference and the Mane 6 and Cadence ambush him, using the power of the Elements and Cadence's enhanced alicorn magic to defeat him. All the ponies get their magic back and Tirek is back in Tartarus. To stop the vines from destroying Equestria, the Mane 6 place the Elements back into the Tree. A chest appears.

    10. The Mane 6 go back to Ponyville. Luna sees Twilight as worthy of becoming an alicorn so she gives her the incomplete Starswirl spell. Twilight completes it and becomes an alicorn much to the chagrin of some bronies.  :lol: More friendship moments and eventually they get their keys to the chest. Meanwhile, in this peace, Cadence and Shining are getting married. Chrysalis, learning from the mistakes of Tirek, comes up with a much more elaborate and well-thought plan to infiltrate Equestria. She succeeds. The Mane 6 don't have the Elements to defeat her and the whole "love prevails" thing doesn't go over so well. Twilight gets her key and they use the "rainbow power/Magic of Friendship" from the chest to turn Chrysalis and all the Changelings back into insects. Twilight gets a castle and becomes the Princess of Friendship. Season 5 events occur as normal.

    Haha. Yeah this is dumb...  :blush:  :lol:

  9. I used to hate cold showers but when I was in the Middle East, I often had to take cold showers and grew to like them a lot. They make you feel very refreshed and ready to start your day but it's hard if you're not accustomed to them.

    I think if I went back to hot showers like before, I'd hate cold showers again.  :muffins:

  10. It was a good decent episode that didn't have too many problems or high-points in my opinion. I see why some are calling it filler since the most obvious lesson was one we've already seen in "Bridle Gossip" and a simplistic one we all know--"don't judge a book by it's cover" or I guess, a Clydesdale by his cutie mark? :P Plus there's not too much we learn from the major characters or too much development from them or their relationships. Troubleshoes was a nice, sympathetic character and I liked him a lot: his design, comportment, background.

    So I have nothing going on in my life. I don't contribute anything to society, I cannot find employment, and I'm chronically addicted to the Internet to make up for things I don't have in real life. Am I supposed to accept that? By this episode's logic, I probably should.

    The major thing I got from the episode isn't that one should just accept the situation you are in regardless of its effect on you, but that one's attitude and reaction to the situation at-hand is also very important--especially in the case of life events that you can't change. Since cutie marks fit this description as far as we know, Troubleshoes cannot change his klutzy nature at all (unfortunately--living your daily life like that must prove exceptionally difficult) but he can change how he reacts to it and how he uses his abilities, shifting it from a destructive to a constructive use at the end of the episode.

    We have a lot more leeway in our lives to determine our interests (though I suppose the cutie mark represents the inner nature of the bearer regardless if they like it or not) so in many situations, we can change our reaction to it and how to rectify it but in others, we just have to deal with the cards we're dealt and make for the best of it. I think that's what the episode was really getting at.

    I'm not too into superstitions so before this episode I didn't know that horseshoes had anything to do with luck at all, but when I looked it up, it seems some think upside-down horseshoes are bad luck because the good luck in it will "fall out" while others believe that since the good luck will "fall out", it will spread to the people around it. I don't know if the writers were getting at that, but it's interesting to see how the perspective on what the upside-down horseshoe actually means mirrors Troubleshoes' self-adjustment and viewpoint on his role in society.

    Thinking about it, it reminds me of "Luna Eclipsed" with how Luna took her previous image that she couldn't change as easily and altered it into something that others could appreciate and enjoy with her.

  11. What he did was completely wrong. He deceived people about the nature of his work and then sold it under that deception. This dishonesty and plagiarism is a serious ethical issue and could have legal implications.

    But I think the best way to deal with him is with your wallet and your clicks. Don't go to his FB and DA pages and don't buy his stuff (unless you believe he has sincerely changed for the better and don't take this issue as seriously). No need to make this a bigger drama than it already is.

  12. I have to concur. I am unsure as to what the OP is alluding to here; no offense to him.

    I think he is referring to the end of "Castle Sweet Castle" where the rest of the Mane 6 tell Twilight that they put something special of theirs in a specific room in the castle. Fluttershy says she put stuffed animals in Twilight's bedroom. I think that was more because Fluttershy has been shown to be obsessed with yarn, having a "freaky knowledge of stitching", and really good with it in general, so she could have made those stuffed animals. Also it's a good alternative to her earlier plan of just giving Twilight some of her animals to make her feel more comfortable.

    I don't see how that fits with his theory though and it's a connection that doesn't make sense to me.  :huh:

  13. Well since magic seems to come from within the ponies themselves, I feel like either it has to be taken from them or given up willingly. How about an area of Equestria during this period of time or an Equestrian future where pegasi and unicorns don't use flying and magic (or just unicorns if you want) because they use more mechanical/industrial contraptions.

    Or you could also do an alternative universe sort of thing if you want?

    Or perhaps the unicorns must use their magic everyday for some major task at the start of the day and because of that they can't use magic during the rest of the day. Like unicorns used to rise the sun before Celestia took up the task, so you can probably think of something for them to do dealing with nature or perhaps preserving Equestria from some sort of threat made.

  14. I think that though the Tree of Harmony has ties with the multiple variations of a "tree of life" throughout history, the Tree of Harmony does not provide magic or energy to Equestria but instead protects it and maintains "harmony" as by its namesake. When the Elements were separated from it for too long, the Tree was unable to protect the Everfree forest and then Equestria from Discord's plants in the Season 4 opener.

    And we don't know if the "rainbow power" is actually directly derived from the Tree of Harmony at all. It could just be an unlocking of the potential of the Mane 6's friendship. The Tree just provided the "spark" for it to happen like Twilight provided the "spark" to give life to the Elements of Harmony again. If this is the case, their usage of the "rainbow power" would not weaken the Tree of Harmony. The fact that it is an alternative to using the Elements of Harmony backs this up since the Tree has provided a way for some great power to be used without harming the Tree itself.

    I think if it were to be killed, Equestria would be in severe danger because now there wouldn't be any "back-up" in case someone with terrible powers attacked Equestria in that way. Perhaps the "rainbow power" would not be unlockable anymore but magic would still be around and the Mane 6 might find some other way to unlock their respective or combined potentials.

  15. Huh. This will be fun.

    Luke=Twilight

    Leia=Rarity

    Han Solo=Rainbow Dash

    Chewbacca=Scootaloo

    R2-D2=Pinkie

    C-3PO=Fluttershy

    Lando Calrissian=Applejack

    Obi-wan=Celestia

    Anakin/Darth Vader=Luna/Nightmare Moon

    Yoda=Starswirl the Bearded (both of them are exceptionally gifted and have this goofy charm). I could also see Zecora.

    Palpatine/The Emperor=Tirek (both go from conniving and manipulative to downright mad with power)

    Jabba=Diamond Dogs

    Boba Fett=Trixie

    Padme=Cadence

    Jar Jar Binks=Snips and Snails combined in one

    Admiral Ackbar=Derpy  :derp: (It's a trap! I just don't know what went wrong!)

    General Grievous=Starlight Glimmer

    And of course,

    Q=Discord (haha)  ;)

  16. Maybe it just shows the Equestrian economy has little to no regulation, so prices are constantly influx and determined by the buyer and seller like in more traditional economies. We had the haggling between Fluttershy and the merchant in "Putting Your Hoof Down", which reminds me of some bazaars in the Middle East.

  17. @@Nightmare Muffin, very interesting idea. I really need to get that Journal of the Two Sisters whenever I can.

    I don't doubt that Starswirl is one of the most intelligent unicorns out there and that his prowess in magic is likely unrivaled past and present (though Twilight will likely become a greater force because of her tremendous potential that I believe is still vastly unlocked--she was able to handle the magic of three other alicorns after all). He likely would now the signs foretelling the arrival of six ponies who would take up the Elements of Harmony through his studies, much like how Twilight knew of Nightmare Moon's coming before (albeit shortly before) her arrival.

    What I doubt, however, is that he would use his time-travelling spells so recklessly. The comic you reference shows that Starswirl is calculating and wise, especially in regards to things that could affect reality and the lives of many ponies. He didn't want Celestia to continue her alternative-universe jumping out of fear of ruining the realities of both worlds. Affecting the timeline of the universe you are in hasn't been established to form alternative universes or to just replace the events that would've occurred, but regardless, it can have a similar drastic and detrimental result. Starswirl seemed to only want to use this ability for the purpose of learning rather than to impose anything or make sure things go as he plans.

    The comic also shows that Starswirl is not omniscient. Though he recognizes Luna's becoming "darker", he believes that Celestia and him can turn her around soon. Why he wouldn't also know of Tirek's rise to power during his lifetime until Scorpan's befriending of him and Tirek's future conquest is also problematic. Note that Princess Celestia and Luna did not know the Tree of Harmony would act in the way it did in the Season 4 opener due to its separation from the Elements for so long, meaning that Starswirl either did not know as well or did not tell them. In the Season 3 closer, his spell wasn't completed and the reason Celestia gave was that he didn't know about the true meaning of friendship. I could see Starswirl possibly foretelling that a unicorn in the future would create new magic and complete his spell, but to purposely not complete his spell while also knowing the solution to it from the future also creates a major conundrum.

    I figure Starswirl has prophesied certain things about the future, but hasn't directly shaped it. Indirectly pushing the Mane 6 to their destiny? I could see that, but likely through notifying Celestia of what he has foreseen.

    Note that Celestia also has portending dreams as well as seen in the Season 4 closer. This would mean that Starswirl did not tell her everything and during his time jumps does not communicate with Celestia. I would find it very unwise to turn to somepony he doesn't know like Zecora as opposed to Celestia with whom he has a strong relationship.

    Why do you assume Celestia is leading Twilight to learn certain lessons? I don't doubt she knew Twilight making friends was important for the sake of Equestria but let's say Twilight failed at her task. It could have been possible for Celestia to retake the Elements to vanquish Nightmare Moon once more, right? I think Twilight's early friendship lessons came about just out of the interactions they had. Meaning, it wasn't really destined, but just things she learned because she is observant and because she was really eager to be around her friends. I don't think Celestia played an active role in making sure Twilight learned a certain lesson. It's more likely that she just wanted to make Twilight's bond stronger with her friends by giving her quality time with her friends in Ponyville for Twilight's sake (since I think Celestia cares fondly for Twilight) and for the sake of Equestria with the Elements, and perhaps because she knew from the prophesies of Starswirl or from her own prophetic abilities/intuition that Twilight had the prowess to ascend and become an alicorn.

    Also, Rainbow Dash's sonic rainboom is a sign of their friendship being destined. I doubt that anyone could have led RD to perform that trick leading them to get their cutie marks and thus leading them to the rest of their lives. The only one Starswirl could have influenced might have been Twilight, moreso indirectly than directly through his mentoring role with Celestia in the past, after she had received her cutie mark.

    It's much more likely that things are going the way they because that's how they are. A combination of destiny and free-will. Nopony pulling the strings, but perhaps using their political clout or magical prowess to push things in a way that has already been foreboded in the signs of old. Starswirl is likely more of a soothsayer who has notified only the one he trusts about the future, i.e. Celestia, and Celestia through her prominent role has ensured that the one in whom she saw great potential to wield the Element of Magic was trained. I think it's also very likely that Celestia originally believed Sunset Shimmer to be the one to uphold the role of the Element of Magic before her ultimate betrayal.

  18. To me it's OK. It looks good on her (especially because of the combination of her mane's colors and the style giving off a similar vibe) but I personally don't think it fits her personality. I liked her mane-style while at the Grand Galloping Gala and in that "Friendship Through the Ages" short though.

    But doesn't Twilight's hairstyle change all the time? With the way the pink and purple streaks in her mane switch places all the time?  ^_^
