A pretty damn solid character if i have to say so myself. Interesting idea with him being a human, and a very descriptive backstory. His cutiemark is unique and well described. There is not really much i can help with there you have created an amazing character

 

So i think you know my rating. I give him a Blazing seal of aprooval (insert awesome seal here)

 

Alright Serenity. First off you need to remember to describe what her cutiemark is. I didn't excactly understand what she could really do other then fight and be caring. You should also work more on her backstory. Don't focus on what she can accomplish, but focus more on WHAT happened to the character. Remember these factors, and you should have a decent character. The only other error i encountered was your grammar. It didn't impact your OC but the error is there if you want to fix it

 

Because your character isn't a mary sue or a ridicilously OP character. She gets a potential seal of potentiality!!

 

Isaac. To be honest i had a hard time understanding your character. The only thing i got, was that he had lost every family member at a young age, and that he wanted to be a wizzard. So let's break things down!

Cutiemark. While your cutiemark looked cool, it lagged a description of what his talent actually was.

Personality was also very vague, and it didn't really give him a... Character. I mean you didn't add depth to his personality.

Backstory was pretty off, he could really use a more detailed backstory, and he has the potential to become an interesting character.

 

You get a meh seal of disaprooval. But keep in mind that i'm trying to help you. If you want a more detailed review of your character then i can provide it if you want. But that'll be when I have the time hope that this review helped you out

no its perfectly fine now to take this critique and actually use it to help my new writing hobby now about the more detailed review i would like that as it would help even more to know the nitty gritty of what i need to improve on on that note realize if this takes to much time don't stress it

Bright Idea thought about taking the change of clothing from the colt, before deciding against it. She didn't really need it - there were no formal state functions today, so she didn't have much of a need for clothes - and she thought that if he had a spare change of clothing, he'd probably need it more than she did.

 

"First, I accept your apology. It was just an accident." Bright Idea said, before giving the spare clothes back to the colt. "Also, thanks for the spare clothing, but I don't need it. I don't have to meet any foreign dignitaries or meet with the legislature today, so I don't have any need for clothes. Besides, if you came with a spare set, there will probably come a time where you need it more than I do."

 

With that, Bright Idea got up from the table, picked up her saddlebag, and prepared to leave.

 

"Again, thanks for your apology and offer to help, Mr. SwiftHeart. May the rest of your time here be filled with good blessings."

"oh...about that i don't really need it.... I kind of over prepare all the time..." he chuckled a bit "well i've got to go....well...bye" he then proceeded to awkwardly walk out " well that was awkward........ i've gotta leave i've already got the frames i needed" he proceeded to walk home with a smile on his face

Bright Idea waved to the (Arabian?) stallion as he left. The unicorn mare probably left sooner. Indeed, the restaurant was now missing roughly a third of the customers it had earlier - likely because the rain had all but ended, allowing them to go back about their business.

 

Well, maybe I should head back to the Mayor's Office and -

 

Just as Bright Idea was about to get up from the table, she felt a cold, damp sensation emanating from her right front hoof.

 

- meet...with...my...Civil Defense...minister.

 

On one hoof, her mood was a lot better than it was when she entered the restaurant, not to mention this was likely an accident. On the other hoof, when was the last time Bright Idea was talking with visitors and residents one minute, then pushed into a police car for overblown reasons, then have to deal with an accidental liquid spill? She was so lost in her thoughts that she almost didn't notice the colt returning with...towels?

 

Oh, so he accidentally spilled this on me.

 

When she turned to face the colt, Bright Idea noticed that he was profusely apologizing for the spill. The spill itself was nothing major, plus, it's not like she had any formal clothes on.

 

"It's fine," she said. "Considering how my day's gone, this is the least of my problems."

"sorry.....i'm new here but i'm guessing from the looks i'm getting, your the mayor" isaac blushed "my name is Isaac. Isaac ShiftHeart.......I hope that this isn't causing any problems for you..... um... oh yes!.." Isaac forgot he had packed a spare pair of clothing in case it rained on him.... "here take these theres a changing room in the clothing store next door i'm sorry"

2:29 PM local time, UPI campus

 

'...the dog was found safe and sound by a local police officer. Now, before we go, here's a final look at the weather. The tropical storm that struck Grand Hoofnea to our south has brought Port Impala some effects, including more rain and heightened wind gusts. The rain and wind have been letting up within the last hour, and should be completely over within the next half hour or so. Looking at our downtown sky camera, we can actually see the sun beginning to peek out, and some ponies are returning to the streets. Expect dry conditions over the next three days, with highs in the upper 80s. At least humidity will be lower.

Compass Meridian turned off the TV in his dorm room. The rain's let up, so maybe it's time to explore the city. Hmmm...the bus ride here was a bit uncomfortable in the heat and humidity, I don't have a car of course, so maybe it's time to take the subway!

 

Grabbing his saddlebag and a map of the city, the brown unicorn left his room, intent on seeing as much as the city as he could. With his geolocation abilities, it didn't take long for Compass to reach the University subway station.

2:31 PM local time, Seaside Bazaar Indoor Shopping Center

 

It couldn't have been a coincidence; the waiter already had Bright Idea's meal ready for her not even a minute after returning to her table. The conversation she had with the stallion and the mare was good, as it helped her take her mind off things. The mare was curious, so maybe she'll visit the Municipal Archives at some point.

 

Heh, maybe the brown unicorn from this morning will also run into her. There's a thought.

 

Her mood was also helped by the fact that the food was very good.

 

I might have to frequent this place more often, she thought.

 

As she finished eating, Bright Idea thought about what to do next. Of course, she'd have to check to see if the police cruiser was towed away; since her mood was better, maybe she should also visit those officers and apologize for her actions from earlier. It wasn't their fault one of her government ministers was making a mountain out of a mole hill.

 

Of course, the day was still young; it was only 2:30 after all. What to do? Explore some of the shops? The Bazaar only opened four years ago, and most of the good stuff was sold outside, so she never had any real reason to visit the two-year-old indoor shops that often...well, aside from the opening, when the center's owner insisted on having the newly elected mayor visit.

 

With the rain ending, some of the customers inside the restaurant got up to leave. Bright Idea couldn't help but listen to some of the conversations. A few ponies mentioned visiting an art shop across the street, some were adamant on going back to the beach, and a few were ordinary residents who took a reaaaaallllyyyy long lunch break.

Isaac had just finished his slice of carrot cake when he decided to take his coffee and leave just as he was about to he tripped and the cold coffee which should of had it plastic lid on spilled on the mayor.... "oh sorry I apologize.... I" he rushed to quickly go get some towels by the time he got back he realized that it was the mayor "oh my! I really do apologize...."

Isaac took a deep breath as he walked around the corner to his new apartment.... he was quite scared as he didn't know what to expect..... turning the corner he stop to take a look at the sights..... his apartment was on a slight hill that lead to the city....

"whoa.... at least for a city this is beautiful .... I'm surprised my apartment was a cheap as it was..... this is amazing!" he smiled as he walked into the apartment block and took elevator with his bag...as he got to the top he saw a arrow that said check in here..of course he followed it and got his key "thank you"

he said as he walked outside the check in and check his key number.... "number 10 mid range apartment second floor.... got it" he took the elevator down to the second floor and walked down to the middle door "11....10! here we go" he took a breath as he walked in..... and to his surprise it was everything the website made it out to be "nice! now all it needs is a little homely touch...now I'm sure I put that photo album in there somewhere...ah yes..." he then proceeded to start looking for the right photos " ah yes these are the ones.... oh I was so photo shy back then I really don't have a enough photos of myself from the past sigh I guess these three are the best" he pulled out one from when he was with his mother and father and two from when he was a little bit older with his step-mother....

"now to go out and buy some photo frames....hmm I really should unpack first but this place is so pretty... I really need to take a little walk around town and it will allow to find those photo frames I need as well" he then proceeded to pack a saddle pack with some item

"now to check I have everything in here. Spare Glasses Check!, Photos Check!, Bug Repellent Band Check! And Water Check!.... I'm ready to go" he proceeded to take the stairs down to the bottom of the apartment block and walked down the stairs and down the hill to the city and walked around looking for some nice photo-frames but stopping in some other shops along the way he proceeded to walk into the bazaar and notice a place to eat.

 "hmm I am quite hungry I guess I could stop for a bite to eat....." he didn't really notice it before but there was a decent amount of zebras here... it didn't really bother him but he was quite surprised,he then took notice to the waiter and said "a table for one please" she proceeded to show him a table very close to the mayor he whisper to him self "is that the mayor.... he does seem to be very important... oh it doesn't matter"

What is this roleplay about?

This is strictly a slice of life roleplay, so there are no long-term plots or storylines.

 

Rules

1) All forum rules apply, no exceptions.

2) Swearing is allowed. What's city life without a bit of swearing?

3) No godmodding. If you wish to control another user's character, get their permission!

4) All posts must be in English. Characters who speak another language should include an English translation in the same post. In addition, posts must be readable; I'm not expecting perfect grammar, but users' eyes shouldn't bleed from reading your posts.

5) DO NOT enter the roleplay unless you are approved to do so by the DM!

6) Any inquiries, comments, or concerns about the roleplay should be kept in this thread. If you wish, you could send a private message to the DM if you feel that your inquiry should be kept private.

 

Other tips, notes, and restrictions

To politically-minded players: While this isn't a political roleplay, I feel that I should mention a few things. First, a coup d'etat counts as a city-wide natural disaster, which can only be initiated by the DM. All judges and magistrates above the circuit level, the semi-ceremonial Mayor, and members of the electoral commission can only be controlled by the DM. Elections, if they are held, will be announced in this thread, not the roleplay thread.

 

Natural disasters: City-wide natural disasters (hurricanes, earthquakes, and so on) can only be initiated by the DM or with the approval of the DM. Localized disasters (water main breaks, local communications outages, robberies, and so on) can be initiated by any player.

 

Technology level: There are no limitations on civilian technology, but technology that can create city-wide disasters (such as nuclear weapons or their magical equivalents) must be approved by the DM.

 

Races: Port Impala follows a non-discrimination policy. All races are allowed (yes, even alicorns and changelings). However, I should stress that godmodding is not allowed.

 

Control of NPCs and canon characters: NPCs - including police officers, shop owners and employees, teachers, professors, and so on - can be controlled by any player. Should they ever make an appearance, canon characters - those that appear in the show - can only be controlled by the DM in normal circumstances. Users who wish to control a canon character must get approval from the DM first!

Port Impala Factbank

Similar to the detailed OOC posts I've made on Equestria in the Equestria Forward roleplay, the Port Impala Factbank is a series of blog posts (trying to keep clutter down) that lays out Port Impala in detail. Almost every nook and cranny of the city-state is described in detail there! Highly recommended read for all players, both active and prospective.

this is quite minor as not much big random stuff gets on my nerves but when anyone adds to  their title(on youtube dailymotion aka any form of video website where you can upload or stream something) like BEST GAME EVER! in all caps.... i know some mean as a joke and there's much wrong with it or being passionate about something..... but for some reason it still gets on my nerves

"Isaac will you come here for a sec i want to talk to you about some things I've been worrying about lately" Isaac Walked over "Yes Grandfather"

"Oh Isaac..... I Fear the worst lately.....see in my prime i was archaeologist..... i used to be mainly looking for ancient dinosaur bones...... but one day i was task with helping this group of archaeologists uncover some ancient Egyptian pony artefacts..... we ended up uncovering a book which has now crumble to pieces when someone left its container at the Canterlot  museum

.......but that isn't what worries me see..... those pages read of a destiny that the ones known as Changelings just after receiving trust from four foolish yet pure princesses would stumble across a gem that can enchant a special potion which can grant hypnotic transformation magic which would allow the Changelings to change ones mind body and even spirit into one of them.....

once realizing this they will ask the princesses prove that they will not harm them and hope for piece by supplying a bit of hair each......this would then be used to test this spell if the hair comes out with holes after one of the Changelings uses the spell they would know it would work.....

.it also says if they do succeed they can steal the elements of harmony from the tree of harmony and with the new Changeling Applejack, Rarity, Pinkie pie , Rainbow Dash, Twilight Sparkle and Fluttershy use them on the gem which with the words "feed us feed us feed us your love feed us feed us endless love supply us food for generations..... help us survive..... feed us feed us......." the gem would produce love to their tribe for generations...... but the books also spoke of 6 heroes who would stop the Changelings......by using the 6 gems of Babylon.... sadly these gems can't be used without a connection point a foal your age with pure mind heart and spirit..... Isaac I fear this is becoming true.... why?.......

well if you read the newspaper lately..... the princesses have recently been trying to work peacefully with the Changelings and already have supplied them with hair......lucky I kept one of the pages of that book and been able to remove the magic protection sticker with a spell I learned recently....... it says that the heroes will bump into each other in the middle of town at the Baltimare Park just behind the parks gates where they will be told about what they need to do first by a Egyptian God......... Some Guards will be keeping a look out for any Thieves.... and will notice this event just at that point by a stroke of luck they were talking to Celestia via A magic hologram at the time of the event and the princesses will ask the guards to send them to her immediately...... the rest is unknown as the most of the pages were missing when we found the book...............I fear about this and want to know if this is true.... so after school go wait just behind the park gate.........and don't tell anyone at my old age they will think I'm insane" Isaac thought for a minute "alright..."
