  1. That's entirely okay! I'm really sorry that I asked so much out of you. I really dont care if you make mine last, but I'm sure it will be awesome!

Glad to see you have enthusiasm and faith in me. I hope I don't disappoint. ^^'

    LOVE IT! Using it now!

If any changes...Twilight in her Camo helmet too upside down in the opposite right hand corner. Curious to how that would look.

That takes time though, THIS IS AWESOME!

I'm glad you like it! I'll look into making the change, but at a later time. For now I'm going to move forward to another request so long as you're satisfied with the avatar I made for you. I hope it's not TOO different.

  2.

damn i forgot sorry, similar to rainbow dash, but longer,

It's all right. I've taken note of it. However, I'm going to go ahead and do yours and Bard's requests last out of what I have currently, as I'm quite rusty at making pony vectors and I just keep finding myself restarting the images. So, as to not become backed up on requests here, I'm going to handle the requests for canonical ponies first. That doesn't mean I won't do yours eventually, but it does mean that it'll take a while. I apologize for this, but I think it's for the best to move forward with requests that I can more easily complete.

    ~Snip~

    I'll do my best!

    ~Snip~

All right. Since your request seems like it'll be the most time intensive and difficult, however, I'm going to put it at the bottom of my current queue. Don't worry, I won't bump it down after this, but for now I'd like to get some of the requests I have done and out there. Do know that this is the most anyone's ever asked of me, though, so I'm not entirely sure how good the result will be when I finally finish it.

    ~Snip~

    Right-o! Not a problem. :D

    ~Snip~

All righty then. Is your OC the parasprite pictured in your avatar, only larger? If not, I'll need to see a picture of him to know how to really make him. And since this has an OC in it at all I'll put it after the canon ponies in my current queue. You can see the first post to see where you fall into the queue.

I understand Nico! Thanks for working on it, much appreciated!

As I've said above I'll be taking on yours and other canon ponies first in this batch of requests, so you should be getting yours soon. :)

  3. here is the color scheme, i had to search the pictures because for some reason my computer has no paint.   for his mane it looks like   the top image, only darker.    the eyes, if you could possibly do, the second image, if you cant do that one, please use the thirds coloration.    the coat is the same as fourth image.   his red coat matches the final picture.   as to his mark, the sun is the same as celestias. sorry for the hassle but thank you

Sorry about getting back to you so late, but I'm going to need one more pretty important detail. What kind of hairstyle does Mirrorwing have? I can't make the hair if I don't know what 'shape' to make it. Thanks ahead of time. :)

    @Cstriker

I appreciate that both of you have chosen to request your signatures and avatars from me, and I hope that you understand that it may be a while as I have to balance my time between work, sleep, personal hobbies, hanging out with my girlfriend, cleaning, cooking, etc. I'm currently working on Bard's request, but since it's an OC pony, it's going to take notably longer than it would if I were able to dip into pre-rendered vectors the way I can for canon ponies.

Hope you can bear with me. :)

  4. Zis is perfeeeeect!

    Many thanks!!!  :yay:

No problem. I'm glad you like it. ^^

Oh I would love to commision an Avatar and Signature!

Rarity is my mane pony, as you can see and I always enjoyed her and twilight wearing their tactical helmet and camo from Dragonshy and Spikes quest.

I have no idea where to go from here, something that shows Rarity's elegance and the quote I have for my sig maybe, "Camo doesn't have to be drab."

    Go nuts!

All righty then. Camouflage Rarity signature it is, then! Do you want her in her camo for your avatar, too? Or would you prefer something different for that, like it is now?

  5. I just want the head part.

The image size limit in Steam is 500x500

Got it. Yours shouldn't be difficult, so I'll put you at the top of the list. I should have it done soon, as long as no surprises pop up and occupy my time. :)

All right! It's a bit simple, but I do think the look turned out quite nice. Let me know what you think of it. ^^

    post-366-0-19430400-1390493321_thumb.png

Here's a preview of it in 'Steam Size'.

Let me know if you'd like any changes made to it or anything. :D

  6. Hey there friend!

Can you do a avatar for me?

Isn't for the forum, but for my Steam account.

    Here's the picture:

    img-2233087-1-11ke6mt.jpg

    Just the head.

    Do anything with the background.

    Thanks.

Do you want that exact image in your avatar? Or are you wanting me to remake that in traditional MLP art form?

    Yeah, sure, why not?

Cascade Swirl is my face, basically, on the Poninet. I'd very much appreciate both an avatar and a sig of her, but just a sig would work too if you have a lot of requests. Which you totally should, this art is good.

I like allowing for artistic license, but preferably she should be doing something swimmy in both - I guess this all depends on how much of her you put in the pictures, huh? Well, water should be included in some way. I can't really think of a quote offhand for the sig, though.

All righty, got it. I can't give you an exact time as to when it'll be done since my free time is limited here lately, but I can tell you that I'll get it to you as soon as I can. :)

  7. Ah man, seeing some of those sigs and avatars brought me back to 2011.

Oh I don't have a request. Just saying hey. You rule Mr. 300.

Mr. 300, eh? I just looked back at my first ever thread here yesterday and saw you calling me that. I had figured you would have forgotten it, honestly. And, no, you rule, Doctor.

hello, can you do a signature and avatar for me? I'm looking for my oc, mirrorwing, a link to his description is included

    http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/mirrorwing-r5649

as for the signature, idk, im thinking about him brooding, with a quote but im not sure what would work, something to do with his self made isolation maybe? well thank you

I need a bit more information on Mirrorwing before I can take you up on this. If you could, would you attach a picture to a post with Mirrorwing's colors just kind of painted on there? I don't need a diagram or anything, just put like "Mane Colors" and then put a spot for each color in the order you want them to be in his mane. This way I can make sure that his colors are just as you want them to be. Just do this for all colors on his body if you will, please.

Also, you say that his mane is a dark rainbow, but what style of mane does he have? Is it flowy like Celestia's? Short and a bit spiky like Rainbow Dash? Is there another pony whose mane is similar? If not, please describe how his mane should appear so that I know how to make it. it would also help if you told me the kind of pose you wanted him to have, as right now I don't have much to go by except 'brooding', which can be depicted in a number of ways.

Other things I need to know: What is his eye color? (Add that to the sheet of colors if you make it, please.) Does he have any special markings on his coat? Is the sun on his cutie mark shield the same as Celestia's mark?

I know it's important for me to maintain artistic vision in the end for something I work on, but I'd also like to ensure that what you get is something you'll be satisfied with.

Hello there, everypony! The name's Nico! I used to run a bit of a request thread here a long time ago, back when the forums were pretty new, really. It shut down due to me becoming burnt out on it and just life stress in general, really. However, I've seen a lot of people here still using my signatures that I made for them in the way back when, and it's a bit inspiring that they've stood the test of time, honestly. So, I'm opening up shop again! If you'd like a signature from me, or an avatar even, just drop a request!

  9. Let's be honest, this guy makes us all have the feels if you know his story: thrown out of his kingdom, alone, finds out his wife died, and then his daughter is forced to kill him ;-;

It's actually possible for Siegmeyer to have a happy ending with his daughter still alive, though it is quite difficult. If you follow his quest and story through to the end and find him in Lost Izalith, follow him down into the pit to battle the 4 tentacle beasts and if he makes it out of there without losing more than what is I believe 20% of his health he and his daughter will both survive in the end. Don't do what I did and accidentally plunge attack him in a misguided attempt to save him.

    More Dark Souls Moments:

Following on the Dark Souls theme, I also find that Queelag's sister has a terribly sad story, as well as that of Great Grey Wolf Sif (especially when you get the special cinematic before fighting him if you saved him in the DLC first). It's horribly sad to kill the proud guy when all he's doing is protecting his master's treasure and honor. And, of course, there's the time you undoubtedly stumble across Knight Solaire in Lost Izalith having not killed the bugs and must fight his hollow form after all of the help he has offered you before. Having to kill him made me more sad than anything else in the game, I'd say.

As for other games, there is of course the Walking Dead Season 1, though there are several moments I found as sad as, if not sadder than, the ending.

    - When Kenny loses Katja and Duck at the same time and you have to decide whether to let him kill his son or not.

    - When Lilly loses her head and shoots Carly in a heated argument.

    - When Benjamin, after so long dragging everyone down, ultimately sacrifices himself for your survival.

I'm sure there are plenty more sad moments, but I'll list them later as I think of them.

  10. Well, I don't have an MP3 player, and I don't actually put music on my devices anymore. I just use Spotify, so I'll just shuffle my primary playlist on it. It's got 209 tracks as of this post, so I think that's sufficient for this.

1.) Cooler than Me - Mike Posner (7/10)

    2.) Lights - Ellie Goulding (8/10)

    3.) Untouched - Veronicas (7/10)

4.) Pocketful of Sunshine - Natasha Bedingfield (9/10) Yes, I love this song. Deal with it. :D

    5.) Bad Romance - Halestorm [Cover] (7.5/10)

Hey, got a good few songs that I thought were pretty good! There are certainly a few songs on this playlist that I find stale at this point.

  11. I don't think anything particular about girl gamers on the whole. However, I do enjoy the fact that my girlfriend plays video games because it opens a new facet of interest for us to share, as well as another activity we can do together. The fact that she's not as good as me doesn't bother me, and I don't attribute that to the fact that she's a girl anyway, but rather that I just play more. Either way, due to the common ground we share since she plays games, I like that she's a 'girl gamer', and nothing is more hilarious than watching her play Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and calling every little thing that hits her a 'little bitch'. :D

  12. Well, I haven't shown my ugly mug around here in, what's that, about a year now? I suppose a couple new pictures wouldn't hurt.

    post-366-0-24031600-1367951985_thumb.jpg

I'm not too awful fond of this picture, really, but it's the only one I really have that where I'm actually wearing my glasses, since I only wear them when I'm not at home staring at screens all day.

    post-366-0-79078300-1367952048.jpg

I find this one to be much better, since I'm actually smiling and such. Me and my girlfriend Andrea all cuddled up, so why wouldn't I be grinning? :3

  13. Hey there, guys! I've got my newest wallpaper posted up and available for all to see, and I figured this would be a good place to share it, of course! Introducing the 'Background Pony Select' wallpaper, harking back to classic beat-'em-up character select screens for its inspiration!

Let me know what you guys think! I look forward to hearing opinions on this. ^^

  14. Okay! Time for a few design tips for the day! What will I be providing my advice on today?

    ~*THEME!*~

The most important thing to know when designing a banner is a theme. This is for obvious reasons, really, as without a theme your banner is just, well, a mess. Sure, you can go into designing a banner without having anything planned out prior to starting, but planning a general idea in your head first will help out in the long run, even if it's just as simple as deciding the pony you want on it.

For the example I'll be showing off today, I'll make a Twilight Sparkle banner, just for kicks. Having decided that she is the pony I want in the banner, my first step should be to figure out what pose I want of her. In this case, I decided to go for a bit of a deranged, wild look.

    twilight_banner_example_pt__1_by_nicolai

Now that I've got the wild Twilight placed how I like her (and, importantly, a place where she'll be clearly visible), I need to re-tool the colors of the image to match Twilight, or if I wanted something more than simple colors I would create an advanced background scene. For this example, though, I'll just change up the colors to complement her.

Obviously, purple would be a decent choice since it matches her, but colors such as blue and pink could also work well with her. I'm clearly going to avoid colors such as green, yellow or bright reds, though, as they would heavily contrast her and it wouldn't be a cohesive piece. I decided to go for a gradient of purple, bright in the center but slowly desaturating and darkening toward the edges.

    twilight_banner_example_pt__2_by_nicolai

I hid the MLP Forums layer for now, as the color of the text made it hard to read how well the color went with Twilight, and was simply kind of an eyesore. Now, though, I need to alter the color of the text and apply it as part of the image, as well as alter the colors of the buttons to match the new banner.

I will simply focus on the color of the text for now, as positioning it now would be pointless should I decide to add a new object into the image and would therefore have to adjust the text to fit it in. I'll also adjust the colors of the buttons until everything seems to go together well.

Pro-Tip: To adjust the color of your Logo, simply select the layer using Ctrl + Left Click (Cmd + Click for Mac) on the layer's thumbnail image. This will select the text for you without the need for a selection tool. After this, go to Layer>New Fill Layer and choose Solid Color unless you feel that a gradated logo would fit in. Doing this preserves the integrity of the original logo layer (simply hide it) while also allowing you to easily switch the color of the new layer just as you would the buttons of the template.

    twilight_banner_example_pt__3_by_nicolai

As of now, though it doesn't look ugly, the banner looks boring. It's at this point in the design where, if you didn't have ideas prior to now, you would decide on things you could add to your banner to make it have more 'pizzazz' while also holding together thematically.

In order to make the banner appear more lively and interesting, I'll add in an object or two related to Twilight Sparkle in one way or another. For this example banner, I'll put in Smarty Pants and Twilight's cutie mark.

    twilight_banner_example_pt__4_by_nicolai

To unify the image overall, as well as make it appear more visually stimulating, I rotated the logo and added a banner parallel to, but underneath, the logo, sort of like a ribbon. And with that, we have a passable banner design! Obviously, don't forget that your name will appear in the very lower-left corner, so don't put any little-bitty detail there that you want to show up.

I should expect that you can come up with something more spiffy than this banner with some time and effort, so go on and give it a shot! It's not too hard if you simply take it step-by-step and have a plan from the start!

If you'd like to download the PSD of this example to get a more detailed look at the layers and pieces, you can get it here!

Nico! It's great to see you biggrin.png What a great tutorial. I've added your topic to our official forum Resource Map as a footnote, along with Speedy Transitions' past topic of similar aspects, under the 'How to make a Forum Banner' FAQ entry section. Having a second topic on the matter is great, as it allows our forum audience to get two different point of views on how to organize a banner tutorial.

It's good to be back, really. I've had my computer in my living room for quite some time since I moved out with my new roommate, so I haven't really had any privacy. I recently moved it into my room, though, so now I can actually do stuff on it! I'm glad you liked it well enough to add it to the Resource Map, and I hope more people like it as I continue to expand on it! ^^

  15. I'm pretty sure this would be of use to me. I've wanted to design a banner for ages now.

Thank you for posting this, this is great for me, and others who want to design a banner but lack the skills to do one from scratch.

No problems! It's my goal to make banner creation more accessible to everyone, and to make it easier even for those who already were into it! I hope you can get something up at the top of the site sometime!

This is cool! I think I may use this, but I use Paint.net so I may have to figure how to do it on that programe, but the template is great!

I don't know how well this template will work with Paint.NET, but I hope it serves you well in some way.

  16. Table of Contents:

    - Introduction

    Theme Tutorial

Hello there, one and all! This is Nico, reporting in to the forums after one hell of a long time away, really. Sure, I've made some blog posts here and there, and status updates hither and thither, but this is the first actual post in quite some time.

What am I here to show you today? Well, allow me to introduce to you my detailed MLP Forums Banner Template!

    img-1351896-1-banner_template_by_nicolai

If you click the link up there, it will take you to my deviantArt Sta.sh, where you can download the PSD version of this banner template, complete with fully customizable colors for the buttons, as well as Smart Layers for the logo (it's the Original PNG from the site's first banner, too!), allowing re-sizing to your heart's content. All layers are organized for ease of use and to ensure that your designing is both streamlined as well as simpler than ever before.

For those who might be a tad bit confused on how to use the PSD to its full potential, I will demonstrate the easiest ways to alter it to appear how you wish! First off, I'll show you how easy it is to change the colors of the buttons!

    img-1351896-2-color_tutorial_by_nicolai_

Changing the colors of the buttons on your design can greatly aid in ensuring that your design is exactly how you want it to be, and the glows will appear just as they do on the site (more or less, it's not a 100% perfect template, obviously). Another advantage of this is that when you go to change the colors, it will provide easy access to the Hexadecimal Color Codes, which you will need to know in order for the administrator to properly alter the button colors on-site.

Another nifty feature of having the template is the arrow on the New Content bar. Though it may not seem like much, the fluctuating from faded to full-white of the button can make quite a difference. Located in the "New Content Bar" Layer Folder there are two layers: 'Active New Content Button' and 'Inactive New Content Button'. Simply hide one and make the other visible to see the differences between the active and inactive buttons!

Obviously the most useful part of this, though, is that when all of your customizations are brought together you can see a clear representation of what will appear on the site as opposed to a rough estimate. Simply replace the "Background Color" layer with the contents of your banner, make the color changes to the buttons, place and re-color the MLP Forums logo as you wish and there you have it!

What makes this an 'advanced' banner tutorial, you ask? Well, don't ask that question, silly! I'm not done with this thread yet, not by any means! I will be updating it periodically with various design tips for creating your banner as well as to answer any questions you have for me on the subject! If you want to know anything about banner design, simply ask me!

Design on, everypony, and have fun with it!

    • Brohoof 11
  17. I could do this for ya, but I think I'll need a bit more detail, if you could possibly provide it. Just let me know any details at all you can think of on what you'd like in the image and I'll try to implement it for you, okay? :3

  18. Ah, Grim Tellings. I dredged this up from the deep, unfathomable trenches of MLP Forums' search function after being reminded about it due to one of your blogs, and I have to say that I feel it's worth ripping out of the graveyard of buried posts now that this place is so much more popular just so that more ponies can listen to it. It's a simply fantastic piece, really. I'm still utterly amazed by your talents, Feld0, even more than a year later.  :P

    • Brohoof 1
  19. Level: Blight Town in Dark Souls. Good God, this place made me want to throw my controller through the TV on my first run through it. These days it's not a problem for me at all, but argh, it was terrible!

Boss: The Four Kings, also from Dark Souls. The battle takes place in a literal pitch black abyss, where depth perception is not even a remote possibility, and it's frustrating when the kings multiply and gang up on you, especially considering how much damage some of their attacks do. I still rage at these guys, even after beating the game multiple times.

  20. I'd play some Resident Evil 6 campaigns with ponies, that's for sure! I'd have Twilight as my partner, because I'm sure she'd be nice and efficient in team-play. Meanwhile, Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash could play their own co-op campaign as different characters and we'd wait at the points where the campaigns intersected so we could all 4 play together when the characters met up with each other. Would be a riotous good time, I'm sure, though I think that having the only unicorn of the bunch on my team kinda makes my team better, along with me actually having fingers.

  21. So, I'm not exactly sure if this kind of place already exists, but I couldn't get a search to pull anything up on it. I'm making this thread as a museum of sorts for all of the banners I've made for this site to go, so that everypony can see what banners were once up at the top of the forums. Bear in mind that these banners do not have any buttons on them, so some of them may look odd, as I was lazy at some points and cut things off where the buttons would have gone.

    post-366-0-53612900-1356660562_thumb.png

I tried to order the banners in the same order that they were used on the site, but memory fails me a bit so I'm not sure if they're in perfect order. Either way, enjoy them, everypony!

If anyone else who has made banners for the site would like to add their banners to the museum, just post them up here and I'll add them to the main post! I'll also work on making the banners more spaced out later and implementing them better when I'm less lazy.
