What are those, if you don't mind me asking?

Prompts are pre made, extremely vague, ideas for you to develop on.

For stories it could be a word like "Space" or it could be a sentence like "Your character went to a coffee shop" and you would elaborate or make a story around it

Designs could also be a word or a palate 

Interesting, sounds a bit like the old Marvel method from back in the day when that company started producing some of its best work and characters.

Oh this was wonderful I love that so many people stopped by and wanted to know about what we do thank you so much for hosting us!!

Here's a question - how do you practice creativity? I've occasionally entertained the thought of drawing art, but while tools can be acquired and techniques can be learned, practiced and perfected, I tend to struggle with the idea of creation, rather than re-creation or reverse engineering.

most of the ideas I have come out small. Something tiny but something i really love. Then you can basically snowball it. Add things to it that you think might work well or create a back story or change the design a little. Or keep the small idea. Nothing you do will hurt it, only expand it more.

If you want a good place to start, look up story or design prompts, that helps when im in a block~

Bit of a personal question for you two, but would you say that one of the most rewarding things about the fandom and being in it was finding and befriending each other?  After all, it was a fellow fondness for drawing ponies that apparently brought you two, one being in the USA and another in Hungary, together; as far as I'm concerned that's putting the magic of friendship to practice right there.

Thats a good way to put it But yes, Im so thankful that Brigi and I are friends and we found each other this way~

@@spadesisters, do the two of you ever have notable disagreements over the direction of the comic, or your collaborative work? If so, how do you two usually resolve it?

Well we keep it seperated for the most part so I write the comic, she draws the comic. She doesnt know much of the story to be honest. The only time she knows whats going on it if shes doing that page or if I need to run an idea by her~

Another MLP related question; favorite villain or antagonist?

The Tantabus, I wish it got more time on the show

Some people say MLP:FiM should end this season since there's the risk that the quality of the show could drop. (Basically, they think it's better to end the show now while it is awesome, than seeing it become... well... not as good as it was) Do you see it the same way? Or do you wish the show to keep going for many more years? If so, how many seasons would you like the show to have in total?

 

Hope I'm not annoying you with my questions 

honestly I dont have a good opinion on this because im not really as into the show as I was (dont get me wrong I still love it)

I mean even with shows that are still going we do get good episodes every once and a while so its not a BAD thing to let it keep going

Without giving too much away (and feel free not to answer this if you don't want to) can we expect to see any canon characters from MLP show up in the Spade Sisters comic at any point?

Luna and Celestia are the only current MLP canon characters we plan to have in the comic~

I have 6 dream teams made out on my computer complete with names and stats XD

Very nice.  As far as your comic goes, of the three Spade Sisters (their names escape me at the moment since I don't think they get mentioned very much, would you be able to remind me real quick which is which?), do either of you have a favorite you particularly enjoy to work with, either because you like drawing them or really like working with and playing around with their character and personality in the story?

JailBreak (the blue one with the whip tail) and HeartBreak (the orange one with short blue hair) and the two I like working with most. Heart has such an interesting story and her sister jail compliments it really nice :3 (not going to give to much away)

The "Anything You Can Do" hearkens back to classic Broadway, the song being from Annie Get Your Gun. Now I have to ask as a theatre teacher and actor:

 

What's your favorite Broadway style musical? And if you can't pick, what's your top 3?

We have, in fact, done that already

Back to your OCs, what is the nature of Alpha and Paper Child's relationship in your mind in your own work?  Inseparable BFFs or something else?  Also, they seem to pop up a lot in the background of your bigger pieces, so are they sort of a "Where's Waldo" type of characters in your comic-related work?

I like to call it Soul friends  

As for the pop ups, its jsut something fun we do if we see the opportunity Kinda like a hidden Mickey

Was there a particular moment that was like, "Yes, I want to animate!" for y'all? Or some pivotal moment where you knew you wanted to go the creative route?

Also, if you two DID get your own animated series, what would it be about? Would there be any major themes that y'all would want to focus on?

For me it was when I realized I wanted to do more art.

Hello again!  This is a bit of a personal question for me since I write one, but what are your thoughts on what makes for a good crossover in MLP, whatever medium it's in?  I only ask since, while your work is not a crossover per se, you do do a lot with world building and playing around with the Equestrian setting, so there is some overlap in the two.

IT has to work. It cant just feel slapped together or out of place ^^;

With that in mind what music do you two like to listen to?

Well I listen to a vast playlist. My songs are mood based and I have such a broad spectrum from Indie music to Dubstep (I literally have Miranda Cosgrove as one of my top played songs along with Dragon Force)

Brigi Loves anything with a good beat so lots of dubstep/house/electronic

How well do the two of you deal with artblock, and do you have any tricks you've found to replenish motivation?

Same! New music is very helpful. Brigi and I have a mildly different playlist so I sometimes send her stuff and vise versa~

I can completely relate to that, I struggle with anxiety as well. I notice that when I am struggling to stay motivated I do the same thing. Just step back and see what happens. I tend to draw things that make me happy, that helps me to get out of the funk.

 

It is inspiring to see others (especially those more in the spotlight) overcoming something that is relatable to many people in this fandom let alone other artists and writers as well!

Do it. Contribute. You will find your way! If you don't put anything out there (but you want to) how do you expect to grow and get better?

We went on Hiatus to work on the comic. It will be coming back in August with even more things to do!!!

Going with the question on others shows, are you into things like gaming or anything else like that?

Minecraft is what we do most lmao XD 

My sister just got a nice gaming computer so you bet your buck ill be playing more games!! (Soul and Blade, Dragon Nest, Overwatch)

We also run a game called "White Doves Carnival Ball"

Once a month people sign up to place there MLP characters in the Hunger Games simulator and you can win prizes like art or money! While we do that we also play alot of Board Game online or Call me xyzzy which we give prizes for too (shameless self advertizing)

This is the first Q&A I have actually taken part in! lol. This is fun! I love reading all of the answers.

 

My quick question for you two is, what do/would you say to inspiring artists/writers, who may be either struggling to find their niche, or somewhat feeling overwhelmed? Do you have any examples of when you felt like you were struggling or didn't feel motivated to continue? 

Oh I have lots of stories about that. I personally am struggling with depression and anxiety. Its getting better but I never wanted to do anything! I have SO MUCH to do for the comic and other projects and it was just to much and other times I didnt like the art I was doing. So I what I did was just stopped. and it helped for a bit! For a day or too I just let the ideas rattle around in my head instead of putting them all down on paper and when I started again the ones I wanted to do most where right there when I needed them and it was so much smoother

But this is just my personal method ^^; Im sure there are better ways or doing it

Among pony artists, I'd say you both fall into a category that has a very distinct look for ponies, one which is clearly different from the show in a very noticeable way but at the same time still seems true to the spirit of the show's designs.  How did you develop this particular style and design for your characters?

"this question is hard! well its years of practice tbh. sometimes i take part of other artstyles and try to add them to mine, for example i noticed that i started making them have that round face shape that is in a lot of cartoons nowdays (wich was totaly an accident lmao)"

Oh, you definitely need to read at least some more of the series. Granted the quality of the comics has been up and down lately, but if you like the Chrysalis arc, there are some you would enjoy, I am sure~

 

All right, have you been to any conventions? Of course that can be both pony and non-pony, but I went to BronyCon last week. It was my first convention experience of any sort and it was a VERY memorable time. So yeah; any convention experience; both of you?

I have yet to go to any kind of convention but I have a dream of vending or running a panel at a con some day :3

Most have been pretty interesting so far. There's actually an episode about Big Mac, Spike, and Discord playing Dungeons and Dragons coming out later this season. Like DDAMD.

 

Another question, do you watch any shows other than MLP? If so, which? Do you get any inspirations for the comic from them?

Gravity Falls, Steven Universe, Miraculous LadyBug, Lots of Anime!!

All the Characters from each of these shows gives us LOTS of insperation. Bill Cipher (I love him hoh my god) Will be the insperation for a character later in the comic
