Fluttershy made be awesome, but let's remember she is afraid of her own shadow. If she got magic it might discharge and hurt Angel or another animal.

She can easily shine radiantly enough for there being NO shadow  :idea:  (besides shadow fear is now history... she's sort of assertive now... ummm... if you don't mind me mentioning that).

Personally I would like to put things very simply - I'd hate to have all human religious concept be pushed into MLP... for Harmony's sake that is. As for the question asked: I suppose they have to answer to the highest authorities possible for a really sentient being - Common Sense and Сonscience (aka Still Small Voice).

In classic sense (common mythology) dragons are to put simply full of magic... so considering Spike is only a kid, his mailing abilities are just fine IMHO. As if it would be more magical to burp pancakes than scrolls? No? I'd say so )

It's not her making new friends literally, others become friends with The Great and Almighty... cough...    with Fluttershy eventually. And Kindness is the key. She is always ready to help and overcome her introvercy problems (are these really problems TBH?) if somepony nearby needs. Even if that somepony is not her friend ATM, even if that is not even somepony, but some-whatever-creature-could-be...

Perhaps I inflict collective curse upon myself saying the following: Can we say "Amen"?   Well, even if, I'll try to leave through that somehow... if the rumor appears to be true.

Luna for sure (the best one)... And I wouldn't mind that year taking place during all "into-the-Moon-banishment"   Why? Thus I would have a tiny chance to be safe of all the work and responsibility... for a year... finally. Seriously I can hardly see that "vacation" happen ever unless me taking place of princess Luna during that period 

What I expect/want/crave from S7:

> More Fluttershy definitely (and give her proper length solo song as it was already mentioned)

> More Luna as well. Maybe some Luna and Flutters interaction (hey everypony, it was real fun in S2, don't you agree?)

> Make Flutters a princess finally for buck's sake (for all she has already done in the show she already deserves, or give her just another challenge... so those who think she doesn't deserve, finally shut the buck up  )

Other than that... I'm fine with the show if it doesn't introduce some completely unnatural and mental twists (and... cough... junk characters)... umm... well... if that's OK with you...

Are you talking about Putting Your Hoof Down?  For the longest time, that was my least favorite episode until Princess Spike came along.  Thanks God that Hurricane Fluttershy came 3 episodes later.

Both this and Hurricane Fluttershy make me GRRRRRR   (Perhaps Hurricane even more as in PYHD we know wabbit is an ass, somepony at the market can be an ass, but in HF that "can't fly" mockery was way worse IMHO... well... if you don't mind). At least first halves of both those episodes. They mock our darling heartlessly and that old "can't fly" crap is total school-bully style. C'mon everypony, we already know it's bull. She. Can .Fly! Damn, she can beat your everypony's ass flying, still they made her fly itty-bitty 2.3 WP in Hurricane Fluttershy even after training. I mean isn't it a bit inconsistent at that point of the show already? *facepalm* And their turns in the second halves of such episodes look like some sort of excuse - "Look we have tried to mix your beloved special pony with dirt... OK, that was a bit much. Here catch your remedy". God knows how I wish sometimes her to enter Hysteria mode and kick a few arses    But of course we should share Kindness  

Second season it a total disaster regarding The Goddess. Almost made me cry... 

It seemed like script writer(s) was/were Fluttershy hater(s). Makes me want to put them in the proverbial SHED!!!

Sometimes it seems to me that they realised that they have made a character too strong and capable, that in the moments of emergency she can easily render other 5 almost futile (even w/o various magic spells) and were kinda afraid of where that could lead. So they tried to sweep her under the carpet psychologically in the Second Season. Has Celestia be my witness, that always makes me explosively mad when I watch. Fortunately fiction has one good feature: when you make some characters, they start living on their own, mostly by the vector established by a few first strong impressions of them. If the character is strong and deep, you simply can't spoil or kill them later. So I know the truth, she is simply superior:

- she has The Stare;

- she can understand, care and tame anyone (up to wildest monstrosities like adult dragons);

- she can outfly even RD if absolutely necessary (season 2 ep 2);

- she can be assertive, still she is gentle, polite and kind towards everypony deserving;

- she's got the look;

- can cook and sew (at least with the help of adequate designs  )

... I can probably list forever. Anyway...

 And she really is!

I'd happily drown in those eyes...

 

Admittedly, I haven't been a big fan of where Fluttershy's character has been going. I wish she'd go back to the way she was in some respects, for example she used to be a lot cuter than she is now.

Yup, they shouldn't go too far from the original concept... both characterwise and drawing style-wise. I mean in some episodes of 6th season she has some... brattish scent to her, I can't explain it better... just seems to me that way. Me doesn't quite like... sorry *squee*
