  1. Spike's characterization and overall role in the first season is something I don't miss. His personality was always a little inconsistent, going from his personality that we know today to a more rough, dimwitted typical "boy character". His personality was a lot more refined by Season 2, though his solo episodes in Season 3 felt like a bit of backpedal. His characterization in Season 4 and onwards is much better and consistent. His role in the first few seasons was also a little annoying. He was treated pretty badly by Twilight and her friends and rarely got time to shine. Even in his solo episodes, he was usually portrayed in the wrong. Outside of "A Dog in a Pony Show" and maybe "Pinkie Keen", he didn't really seem to get those cool, heroic moments until "Gauntlet of Fire", unless I'm missing something. I didn't mind the CMC in the first few seasons much, but their episodes got repetitive after awhile. Especially because the show teased us with their actual talents all the time, which made it even more tedious. Other then that? Eh, not much. I really like unicorn Twilight and I might like her more then alicorn Twilight, but I like alicorn Twilight a lot too so I don't really miss it.
  2. I love birds! I have a cute Parakeet and have been trying to order a Cockatiel for a few months now. Your bird is beautiful! On topic. My avatar is Snails from a humanized Friendship is Magic webcomic I've been reading. I love the color scheme and Snails has been one of my favorite background/minor characters for awhile now. It's also the same avatar I use on Wikia and Steam so I figured I might as well use it on these forums too.
  3. Somehow, somehow I came across some random Dilbert comic strip that I commented on in 2010 when I was only 12 or 13 and it was the cringiest thing. Calling a guy a "no life loser" for never playing a Mario game of all things. Just my general thought process as a kid was really cringy and haunts me from time to time. I was so scared that my friend was gonna kill herself after we had a single argument and was shocked to see she didn't really care about the fight the next day. Oh and needless to say my Sonic role-plays and OCs I had back in the day where pretty bad. I remember one RP/Sonic LARP I had with my friend that was about Sonic's twin brother who Eggman killed and was reincarnated as Shadow, and also his best friend, Maxwell the Hedgehog who was actually Amy's long-lost older brother. Childhood was weird in retrospect.
  4. Steam: http://steamcommunity.com/id/Darkanine/ I change my name and avatar a lot so beware. PSN: JordanDeHart (no spaces). I have another PSN account for my Vita but I totally forgot it by now. I no longer own a 3DS but I'm fairly active on Pokemon Showdown for what that's worth, my username there is BB~NeptunianDark
  5. Probably SomeCallMeJohnny. Been following him since 2010 since I found out "The Great Clement" did a lets play with BrainScratchComms (Sonic 06). This was the first video I ever watched of him, I remember it because it has a particularly memorable moment when SIlver the Hedgehog throws Sonic beyond the boundaries of the game. I don't really follow Chugga much anymore, I think the last thing I watched of his was his "crossover LP" with BrainScratchComms, but man I have a lot of memories with him regardless. I even got my username "Darkanine" from his Pokemon Fire Red LP which...man I don't even wanna think about how long ago that was. Outside of the gaming circle of YouTube, my favorite Linguist YouTuber is easily Xidnaf (yes, linguists YouTubers is a pretty big thing surprisingly enough). Their videos are brief but detailed as they go over various linguistics subjects and what they relate too. The channel reignited my love for linguistics and most of all, conlanging. My favorite comicbook YouTubers are ImaginaryAxis and ComicDrake. Aside from some duds, ImaginaryAxis produces really good content about the lore and powers of comicbook characters. As a math nerd myself, I loooove when he gets into the mathematical values for things character do. I also really like Linkara/Atop The Fourth Wall's comic reviews. My favorite "brain bleach" YouTuber is Top15s. His content isn't good, in fact sometimes it's insultingly bad, but I can watch it for hours. Sometimes though, even he strikes gold.
  6. I usually avoid these kinda memes but this one was to good.
  7. I think it was the best, at least in the thematic sense. A few other songs were great, but they felt kind of forced in the narrative which took me out of the experience, while Open Your Eyes expanded on the story and gave Tempest a backstory.
  8. What kind of games do you like? I don't play on my PS4 a whole lot but my favorite game for it is probably Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth, a massive RPG spanning well over 100 hours with an original story building off the Saga X storyline and mythos (but no knowledge is required to enjoy it). It's getting a pseudo-sequel soon in the form of Hackers Memory, too. I also enjoyed the Marvel Ultimate Alliance series, even though they're deeply flawed games. They're basically pretty sub-par beat'em'ups with huge character rosters and fairly deep character customization. Injustice II is a lot of fun, too. Sonic Mania was a blast and Okage the Shadow King was an interesting game. I also enjoyed Steven Universe: Save the Light, but it's not a very good game as a whole. Very buggy, lackluster story, and incredibly poorly designed, but fun if you like the source material.
  9. 2013. It was built to be the previous owners "dream house" before he sadly passed away. It's built in the aesthetic of an old-timey homestead though.
  10. Whoo boy... So I'm an admin on this "Battle Board Site", for those of you who don't know what those are, it's a forum where users argue who would win in a fight or other competition. It's a fun hobby but some people take it waaaaaay to seriously. So I already have to deal with some really laughable trolls pretty much everyday, but there's a few that really stand out among the rest. But one in particular just stands out the most. So lets call this guy Steve. Steve on his original account was quite the character to begin with. He would type in improper grammar, always using "u" instead of "you" and had a tendency to 'explode' when stuff went an unexpected direction or didn't go his way. I was probably one of the few staff members who didn't dislike Steve from the get-go, sure he would go on long tangents and cuss like a sailor, but he didn't seem like a bad guy at first. I forget what exactly happened, but he got into a fight with another admin which ended up him getting banned for a few weeks for insulting everyone on the forum and calling us all idiots. You know, the usual. A few days later, another "user" joined who typed in a similar fashion to him. We get a lot of sockpuppets as is so a lot of people were suspicious, me included. But, the "new user" seemed like a different person with similar interest. He was actually quite pleasant and subdued and he treated users with respect and was overall quite polite and nice. Steve actually went uncaught on this account for a solid half a year until he was eventually banned after he went on a really long and vulgar rant about how anyone who likes DBZ are 'filth' or something like that. I was actually quite disappointed, I really wanted him to not turn out to be a sock. About a week later, he made another account. Everyone caught on fairly quickly this was another one of Steve's socks. He was rude as can be, extremely confrontational, aggressive and persistent. He was banned within a few hours. Only minutes later, he started stalking me and the head admin, spamming me messages on a freaking DuckTales wiki site of all things, but here's where it got annoying. He made an off-hand remark about all of his previous accounts, one of which was a brand-spankin' new account. The new account had a stock, generic avatar and only had one post, which is a very basic comment done in bad English. I just assumed this was another sock and banned him. Turns out I was wrong. Lord knows I was embarrassed after that. Steve, of course, started gloating like a freaking supervillain about how wrong and stupid I was and how smart he was on another site. Typical. A few days later, which was just a week ago at the current day, he made nearly 20 new accounts in just a few hours to spam us. Nearly every single dang account was blocked before they could perform their "master plan", but still. t w e n t y a c c o u n t s. Worst part is, he's still at it. He just made a new account a few days ago and immediately started causing arguments and fights about peoples taste in anime. And if you're wondering, yes, we IP banned him and everything, but he got past that. Not to surprising since passing IP bans isn't to uncommon, but still.
  11. Me and my buddy were talking about Sith Lords and Darth Tenebrous was brought up so...
  12. By far my favorite class to play is Medic. Theirs a lot more to it then just healing people, which is what makes the class so damn fun. Constantly running, dodging, using your enemies placements to your advantage (I particularly enjoy using enemy sticky bombs to "sticky jump" out of harms way at the cost of some health). I always love playing it a bit more rough, daring getaways require some drastic tactics like taking big falls or even taking out enemies myself. Combat Medic 4 lyfe My secondary main is probably Pyro. I'm not good as Pyro, but I'm not awful either. I got all the basics down pat, like airblasting, shotgunning, balancing ambushing and sneaking tactics, etc. I also tend to play Engineer and Scout in CTF. In MVM, my main is Scout. There's something very rewarding about collecting money and getting 1k+ Health in the process.
  13. It's heavily implied Cadance is related to Radiant Hope in the Siege of the Crystal Empire storyline, who in turn was going to be the next princess in the Crystal Empire after Amore, hinting that the two were related in some way. Though, Amore ruled a little over 1,000 years ago and was turned to stone, then shattered and scattered all across the tundra by Sombra so it's unlikely they're mother and daughter, but very likely they're related. Crystal Heart Spells said Cadance was an orphan who was raised by kind villagers in her childhood, which if we go by the Neigh Anything storyline, wasn't to long ago, which further supports that they probably weren't mother and daughter.
  14. Well, some of my favorite shows of all time are: MLP, Star vs, PPG, The Loud House, Steven Universe, some of my favorite fictional characters are Wonder Woman, Princess Bubblegum, Luan Loud, Lucy Van Pelt and Twilight Sparkle. My favorite color is light pink. I love magical girl series and some of my favorite games of all time are Princess Maker II, Long Live the Queen, and Magical Diary: Horse Hall. I love watching ballet and reading romance stories. Oh, and I love cleaning if that counts as a feminine act (I think it's just a human thing but who knows).
  15. I love MLP, but it probably is pretty low tier in terms of my all time favorite cartoons. I like MLP more then, say, Steven Universe, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2003-2012, The Loud House and Marvel's Spider-Man, but I don't like it as much as Arthur, Adventure Time, Justice League/Unlimited, Teen Titans or Peanuts by Schulz. Anime wise, I'm not really sure. I think I like it more then Soul Eater, Slayers, Digimon and certainty above Pokemon, Hetalia and Keroro Gunso.
  16. Superman vs The Elite (2012) The film is an adapdation of the What's so Funny About Truth, Justice and the American way? storyline from 2001. A really good Superhero film. My friend wonders why Superman remains my favorite superhero of all time, and that movie is a great testament to why. It's not because Superman is strong, or fast, or "overpowered", it's because of who he is. A pure of heart hero who fights for truth and justice, almost always maintaining steadfast compassion and warmth. The animation feels kind of cheap by movie standards, but it does the job and the final fight scene is spectacular. Also, the opening reminds me of Kitty0706's work, which is awesome and somber at the same time.
  17. Digimon is probably my favorite series from the 90s. One of the first anime I ever watched, back when I could barely talk. I kept with the franchise and still watch the anime (Tamers and Frontier are my favorite series so far), although I've developed a love-hate relationship with the series in some regards. Some of the newer stuff (mostly tri.) I keep up with because I feel like I have too, even though the actual product isn't very good. Still, Digimon Universe and Cyber Sleuth were fantastic. Second favorite is Arthur. I still love Arthur, I even enjoy current seasons (albeit, not as much). Seriously. I went to rewatch it last year, that show has some serious continuity with itself and theirs even an episode-spanning story arc in Season 4 or 5 that leads to some rewarding character growth. The show also surprised me with its character development, or example, Binky Barnes grew from a bully with serious insecurities over his "feminine" hobbies like dancing, music and butterfly collecting to a pretty nice kid who isn't ashamed of his love for ballet and music. The animation, music and characters are for the most part, pretty good too (though some characters are annoying). On a side note, the Arthur fandom is probably the weirdest cartoon fandoms around and I love it for it. Other stuff includes Power Rangers, Super Sentai, Spider-Man: TAS, Superman: TAS, He-Man, Ed Edd n Eddy, Sponge-Bob and Downtown.
  18. I admit it, I'm a middle-school drop out. I dropped out of Seventh grade after me making racist remarks at a Mexican student snowballed into a very long and drawn out event. I admit it, I was a bad egg growing up, I was a bully and had a pretty bad superiority complex online. Oh god, I remember stumbling on a comment I made a little over 10 years ago (on a Dilbert comic strip, of all things) and dear lord it made me cringe. I admit it, I bite off more then I can chew far to much. I run three different wikis, help run two more, contribute to a bunch more, currently studying astronomy, physics, geometry, theology, and entropy while having to make time to help babysit my two nieces, tend to my pet bird all the while reading Pathfinder books and balancing my hobbies of reading, writing and drawing. Needless to say, I'm very behind on everything. I admit that I accepted that I'm a loser a long time ago and...I'm okay with that? I don't really hold myself to high standards as I used too, which means my quality of work on just about everything has seen a notable decrease, but at time same time, I'm happier. I admit it, I feel lonely most the time. I live in the middle of nowhere on a huge farm and usually am the only one home. Almost 3 acres of land and I'm usually the only one on it. It's not a good feeling. I admit it, I mostly watch children's shows nowadays. Gritty crime thrillers, sports dramas, teen dramas, political thrillers, they just don't do it for me. There are exceptions to that, I guess. I liked Stranger Things and I tend to love anthology series regardless.
  19. Upon reflecting on it, I'd say Reflections is probably my favorite too (pun not intended). A great, tragic love-story that spans space and time. It's one of the times Celestia feels like a character, she has flaws and strengths and has some great moments in the arc. The artwork is top notch and as someone who geeks out over the use of multiverse and alternate realities, I was pleasantly surprised by MLPs take on alternate realities. I love when "Dark is not Evil" is at play, and I just love the design of Sombra's kingdom. Dark, but in a gothic way and still inviting. I agree with you there. In fact it kind of bugs me that it was the first Fiendship story in the series. It gave me high hopes for the other stories in the series, but none of them really hit the same high notes. Tirek's story had cool aesthetics and a nice change of pace, but the story didn't really go anywhere.
  20. I usually like it, but it's a bit hit or miss with me. I like Jay's art, but only in more laid-back, slice of life stories. His work on Issue 29 (main series) was really cute, vibrant and bouncy, but when he tried to draw an action scene in the Guardians of Harmony one-shot annual, it just fell flat. It was to cute to take seriously, which is a shame because seeing Giant Spike vs Chrysalis under, say, Andy Price, would've been freaking metal. Brenda's art is great too. Very colorful and bright, matches the show very well too. She does great expressions and draws one very adorable Fluttershy. Katie's art is really nice too, versatile as well. Her art in the holiday special made that comic way better then it would've been. Very bouncy and energetic. Overall though, Andy's gotta be my favorite artist. Maybe it's nostalgia because The Return of Queen Chrysalis was one of the first comics I ever read, but his art is rocking. Great detail, lighting, expressions and just rocks at drawing detailed shots of characters being evil or badass. Agnes art is really sweet too. Has a chalk-like aesthetic to it which compliments the colorful nature of the show. It's just a shame that most the comics she tends to draw for tend to be average to below average IMHO. I loved Ben Bates work in Micro-Series #7. It had a slightly anime/manga look to it without compromising the style of MLP and had a really cool, colorful-but-rough touch to it. Only problem is he seemed to struggle with expressions, the ponies kind of looked weird in a couple shots with awkward facial expressions. Did he do anymore work outside of that issue? I haven't spotted his artwork in any other comic as of yet. Amy's art is probably the most middle of the road to me. She doesn't do anything wrong, really, but very few panels drawn by her just stand out as really cool scenes. Which is a bit of a bummer because I really like most of the comics she draws for. I don't dislike Tony's art, but it feels kind of cheap in comparison of the others. I think it's the faces, they don't always look right. His work on Ponies of Dark Water and the Guardians of Harmony one-shot had this weird thing where the lighting in some shots looked more like cheap gradient effects rather then drawings, but looked fine in other shots.
  21. Batman Forever was one of my favorite games as a kid. Only thing I'm playing currently is Realm Grinder in the background. Nothing to serious. I also sometimes play Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff on my kindle to kill time. Nothing to special but it's kind of funny. I kind of opted out of gaming as of late. Last thing I played seriously was Steven Universe: Save the Light, which was kind of a trainwreck, but an enjoyable one. Although I'm gonna get back into Injustice II now that TMNT have been confirmed to be upcoming DLC characters.
  22. Yeah, I was pretty surprised by that too. Full blown death, on-screen no less.
  23. I get the hunch you're in your early to mid 20s, but I wouldn't be surprised if you're older
  24. It didn't make me feel uncomfortable per say, but I was taken aback by the dark imagery and flat out slavery. I know those concepts aren't new to MLP, but they're usually glossed over or toned down, while in the movie it was pretty front and center in some scenes. Since I didn't follow anything about the production of the movie or watched the trailers, read any of the promotional comics or books, I was pretty surprised by the overall tone of the film. Although, the realization that the movie was kinda like the Spongebob movie lightened the tension to me halfway through.
  25. Can't say I have. Even when I type or talk about the show itself, I tend to just instinctively use common suffixes instead ("everyone" instead of "everypony"). Doesn't help that the comics are pretty inconsistent with using them as well. Although I sometimes instinctively use Japanese honorifics despite not really watching much anime as a whole, which is odd.
