    Welcome back, fillies and gentlecolts, to another RHYTHM RED’S RADTASTICAL REVIEWS!!!  (...it’s about time!)
    Today, we’re talking about Surf and/or Turf! Even though it’s been out for a little while. I’m lazy.  
    I believe this is the first leaked episode (correct me if I’m wrong), though I haven’t watched the leaked episodes myself. Why would I want to spoil the surprise?  
    With all of that out of the way, here we go!  
     
    First off, we get something pretty unique: the CMC’s are being called by the map! This is good, I’m all for the CMC’s solving a friendship problem instead of a cutie mark one for once. You can only have so many “CMC’s help ponies find their cutie marks” episodes before it gets a little repetitive, so this is a great idea, in my opinion!  Plus they get to go to Mount Aris!  
    One train ride and a few funny comments later, and we get to Mount Aris, home of the hippogriffs! Oh, and I think we all know Twilight just wants a vacation. (“Research”. You silly pony. )
    Next, we meet Terramar, a young hippogriff who can’t decide if he wants to live on Mount Aris or in Seaquestria. Both have their positives and negatives, and hippogriffs on both sides are trying to make him choose. This is a FANTASTIC episode idea. I’ll get to why that is in just a moment. 
    A short while later, Terramar and the CMC’s go to Harmonizing Heights. Sweetie Belle falls in love with the place, of course, and wants Terramar to stay on Mount Aris. Then, they go to Seaquestria, and Scootaloo tries to persuade Terramar to stay there instead. (I also liked watching her ‘fly’ underwater!) Apple Bloom doesn’t pick a side.
    Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo get into an argument over where Terramar should stay, and he runs off, angry that the ponies who were supposed to help him only made things worse. 
    The CMC’s then surprise him with a big beach party- one that both those living on land and those living in the water can enjoy! Terramar’s parents apologize for pressuring him, and he decides to enjoy both worlds, rather than limit himself to one. 
    YOU GET THE BEEEEEST OF BOTH WOOOORLDS!!!
    ...excuse me.  
    Back to why this episode idea is such a good one: It resembles divorce. Obviously Terramar’s parents aren’t divorced, but them choosing to live in different places (and having strong opinions about it) are like a disagreement, and Terramar going back and forth between houses is like a kid going to visit both of his parents. Just like in a real divorce, this takes a toll on Terramar. The fact that this is shown in the episode is pretty neat, in my opinion. It references divorce in a very subtle way, but it’s still there. 
    Okay, so a pretty good episode overall. But what about the downsides?
    First off, the solution was kinda obvious. I knew how it would end from the very moment the conflict was introduced.
    Secondly, depending on how you look at things, the theme could either be divorce or making difficult decisions. If it’s divorce, the ending was perfect, because a child should get to spend time with both his parents. If the main theme is decision-making, however, there’s one teeny-tiny issue: You don’t always get to choose both options. Sometimes you only get to pick one.
    Anyway, I enjoyed it! I think I’m gonna give the episode a 7/10! It was a pretty solid episode overall, but I still think Grannies Gone Wild is the best episode of season 8 so far. Will that change soon? Maybe.

    Hello, fillies and gentlecolts, and welcome back to another RHYTHM RED’S RADTASTICAL REVIEWS!!! 
    Today, we’re gonna be talking about Grannies Gone Wild, the latest episode of MLP! 
    Let’s go!
     
    So, I was definitely looking forward to this one. Granny Smith always cracks me up, and having her go on a trip with Rainbow Dash? Great idea! Their different personalities are sure to create some funny moments.  
    We begin in the Wonderbolts locker room, where Soarin and a couple other Wonderbolts are telling Dash about the most AWESOME roller coaster ever. Dash, of course, really wants to go on it, but it’s all the way in Las Pegasus and it closes in a week! *gasp* What will she do?! Go to Applejack, of course, who amazingly promises to cover her classes! Under one condition... Rainbow Dash has to take care of Granny Smith and her friends. Clever, Applejack.  
    As I already mentioned, the speedy Rainbow Dash and the slow older ponies don’t get off to a good start, though they manage to make it to Las Pegasus before the coaster closes. 
    Throughout most of the episode, Dash remembers what Applejack told her, and gets reminders from the Spirit Of Applejack Past (I gotta name it something, I guess! ). Despite the fact that Granny Smith and her friends are having fun, Rainbow does as she is told and basically ruins everything, over and over. But hey, she’s just doing what Applejack said. Also, we see a male pony that looks VERY similar to Trixie. I suspect they’re related somehow. Oh, and Rainbow Dash eats some nachos. Mmm... nachos... 
    By the way, what’s with all the flirting? It’s gross! Totally agree with Rainbow. 
    Anyway, after all of that, we get a nice apology from Dash, even though it really wasn’t her fault. Since Granny and her friends are all part of their special club, they get to skip the line and ride the coaster, which was great to see! Now, it’s lesson time...
    Rainbow Dash learned not to judge people just because they’re old. This is a great lesson to teach kids, because many children think older folks are ‘uncool’, when in fact, it’s quite the opposite!
    In the grannies’ case, they turned out to be really cool! Plus, they even let Rainbow into their club! Now she can visit Las Pegasus every year with them! Yay!  
    I love this episode! ARE there negatives?
    Hmm. I can only think of one, and it’s just a question. Why are they closing the coaster? If it’s as exciting and popular as the episode shows, wouldn’t they want to keep it? That confused me, but it’s a relatively minor problem that doesn’t affect my view of the episode.
    So, where would I place it on my MLP scale?
    Hmm... 8/10! It was a great episode, with both humorous and emotional moments, it had a fantastic lesson, and a creative storyline. However, I personally wouldn’t place it up with episodes like Twilight’s Kingdom or The Perfect Pear. A great episode overall, but it’s just not enough to be placed any higher, in my opinion. I reserve the 9 and 10 spots for only the BEST episodes.
    It’s without a doubt my favorite Season 8 episode so far, though!

    Hello, fillies and gentlecolts, and welcome back to RHYTHM RED’S RADTASTICAL REVIEWS!!!  
    Today, we’re gonna be talking about the latest episode, Fake It Till You Make It! 
    Let’s go!  
     
    We get a nice smooth intro: Fluttershy having a tea party with her animals. Nice and relaxing... until Rarity shows up.  
    We are immediately told what the episode will be about: Fluttershy taking over at Rarity For You. Quite an interesting idea for an episode! The fact that Fluttershy is literally the LAST pony Rarity would ask is a pretty funny way to introduce the episode’s conflict.
    Fast forward to Manehattan, and we see Fluttershy struggling to understand all of Rarity’s crazy fashion stuff (I’m with you, Fluttershy, it confuses me too!). After Rarity shows Fluttershy how to make a sale, she leaves, and Fluttershy gets her first customer. Of course, she isn’t confident in herself, so, with some help from the raccoons, she decides it’s time to play dress up!
    Fluttershy’s first costume is a snobby fashion salespony. It’s nothing too crazy yet, and it actually gets the job done well, giving Fluttershy a massive confidence boost. She then starts making sales left and right!
    ...Until teenager pony comes along. Fluttershy’s snob costume doesn’t work on teenagers, so she decides to change into a “teenager” herself. Next, we get the funniest part of the whole episode.
    ”highkey, savage, lit, squad...” 
    I love that part sooooo much.
    Aaaaaanyway, next we get a goth costume, which is just as funny. Fluttershy, you should be an actor.  
    But of course, she gets carried away with all this acting, and starts to become rude! *gasp* Rarity would not approve! 
    After being called “rodents” (not cool, Fluttershy!) the raccoons find the rest of the mane six and spike, and ask for their help. I’m curious, how did three raccoons make it from Manehattan to Ponyville in such a short time? And I thought the mane six were all gonna be busy that day...?
    They all go to manehattan and see that Fluttershy is out of control. They fail to help her, and Fluttershy’s actions begin to turn customers away! 
    Of course, the answer is to head to Canterlot (once again, how are they traveling so fast?) and get Rarity. Rarity goes back to the shop and makes Fluttershy snap out of it (by firing her characters, which was kinda funny), and somehow, she just goes back to normal immediately. Seems a little rushed to me, but whatever.  
    Fluttershy apologizes, the mane six talk about Fluttershy’s acting skills (10/10 by the way, amazing performance), and Rarity gets inspiration for a new dress, which Fluttershy models. The episode ends with Fluttershy sticking up for Rarity when a fashion pony makes a negative comment.
     
    So, that’s my thoughts on the episode! But let’s have a look at the negatives...
    1. TELEPORTING RACCOONS. WHAT THE HECK?:
    In other words, the travel times were awful short. That’s pretty unrealistic, if you ask me.  
    2. Fluttershy got way too caught up in acting:
    This also seems unrealistic. Is it possible to get so caught up in a certain character that you forget you’re acting? Doesn’t make sense to me.
    3. The ending felt rushed:
    ”I’m gonna fire your characters, that will fix everything!” Doesn’t make a lot of sense, either. This kinda ties in with number two.
     
    However, despite some of the episode being a little unrealistic, overall there were plenty of laughs. (And I love to laugh!)
    So overall, I’d give it a 7/10! Like I said, some things were unrealistic, exaggerated, or rushed, but that’s likely because the episode needed to be wrapped up within about 22 minutes. And other than those things, I think the episode was quite funny.

    Hello, fillies and gentlecolts and welcome back to RHYTHM RED’S RADTASTICAL REVIEWS! 
    Today, we’re gonna have a quick look at the newest episode of pony, ‘The Maud Couple’! 
    LET’S GO!  
     
    So first off, I must say that I was particularly excited for this episode. Maud Pie is one of my favorite secondary characters, and she never fails to make me laugh. (Though that crowd at the beginning didn’t find her too funny )
    Aaaaaanyway, I like Maud. And her getting a BOYFRIEND?! That’s gotta be good, right? I mean, who in Equestria would be the perfect match for such a unique pony? HILARITY should ensue, right? 
    The first part of the episode was basically a big game of unintentional hide and seek, which is CLASSIC Pinkie. But instead of finding Maud, she found a strange stick-loving pony that she immediately took a disliking to! I think she may have been a little too quick to judge him, personally. And she acted a little out of character, too. Shoving him out the door? That isn’t classic Pinkie. But beside that, I think the encounter did a good job of introducing our new character.
    That entire re-introduction conversation was hilarious! (Stick abuse?! Come on, that’s funny!) 
    Toward the end of the episode, Pinkie goes to the rock farm, and gets some solid padvice from Limestone Pie. That geode metaphor was perfect! And it’s always good to see more of the other Pie sisters as well, even though they were only in the episode for a couple of minutes. 
    And Limestone. Holy cow. We saw a side of Limestone that we haven’t really seen before and I sincerely hope we get to see more of it. Wow.
    After getting that advice, Pinkie goes back to Ponyville and helps Mud Briar plan a special party for Maud that he knows she would enjoy. Maud enjoyed the party (and by enjoyed, I mean watched from far away ), and Pinkie and Mud Briar began to accept each other. I think that’s a pretty good ending, personally.
     
    But, of course, there are negatives!
    - Though the episode had some moments that were definitely really funny, overall, it wasn’t as entertaining as I was hoping. I don’t know exactly why. I guess I was just expecting more.
    - Mud Briar really isn’t that interesting of a character.
    “But Rhythm, he’s supposed to be the same as Maud, what are you talking about?”
    Well, you see, Mud Briar is missing two crucial things that makes Maud such a likable character. A unique sense of humor, and a caring personality. I think there’s a LOT of potential for Mud Briar. He had a couple funny lines in there. I just feel like they could’ve done more with him.
     
    Anyway, good episode overall! I give this one a 7.5/10!
    l thought it was pretty good, but it just didn’t pack the amount of comedy that I expected from an episode with Maud and Pinkie in it.

    Hello, everypony- err... everycreature (shudders)- err... everyONE! And welcome, to RHYTHM RED'S RADTASTICAL REVIEWS!!! On this blog, I'll be talking about what I like and dislike about the newest episodes of MLP. And now that I'm finally all caught up, I'm going to give my late (but hopefully great ) review of episodes 1 and 2 of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, Season 8!
    Let's get right into it!
     
    So first things first, I love the way the episode starts. Move references EVERYWHERE. That's awesome to see. I'm glad they're treating the movie as show canon. Next, we dive right into the friendship school idea, which, as many of you know, is something I wasn't all too thrilled about. However, I've decided to keep an open mind about it, so I could give the new season a fair shot. And boy, was I pleasantly surprised!
    First off, the song was great! Funny lyrics, the story was told quite well, and the alternating vocals were fun to listen to. Not anything incredible, but I still liked it!
    Now, on to perhaps the biggest positive for me: I LOVE the new characters! They're all immediately likable, and their interactions were both hilarious and realistic! I TOTALLY get them when they were talking about how bored they were. As of right now, my personal favorites are Sandbar, Ocellus, and Yona. If you take my personality, and copy it onto a pony, you get Sandbar. He's literally me in pony form. Well, technically, that's my OC, but you get the point.  I like Ocellus for being a cute lil changeling version of Fluttershy (which was an awesome idea!), and Yona is insanely funny. 
    I could rant about the characters all day, but we have other things to get to, right? Which brings us to the episode's main villain, Chancellor Neighsay. I think the way he was used in this episode was PERFECT. MLP just talked about racism. Racism is definitely a huge topic in our current day and age, and I think it's a great idea that our little show is finally mentioning it. I definitely want to see more of Neighsay in future episodes, as he has a lot of potential as a villain. He kinda reminds me of pre-reformation Starlight. He's just a simple unicorn, but he has a messed up mindset. Everyday villains like him could make a bigger impact than big baddies like Tirek or the Pony of Shadows!
    Let's move on to the part I was most nervous about: the idea of a school in MLP. This is one of the reasons why I dislike EQG. To me, school is an overused, boring, and terrible setting for a cartoon. But MLP did it again. They made the impossible possible. This school idea has me very, very excited. It's not some boring ol' high school. It's a FRIENDSHIP SCHOOL! And they're not teaching boring school subjects. They're teaching relevant lessons revolving around their elements! That's awesome! I'm also really looking forward to seeing Starlight in the counselor role. That's got a lot of potential to be great.  
    Part two opens with a crying Twilight Sparkle (and when ponies cry, I cry ). She's sad because she believed she failed as princess of friendship. I can relate to that feeling of failure.
    After Starlight helped motivate her again, she sent the rest of the mane six to find the students, who are all missing! But wait- there's more! They're missing TOGETHER! They don't want to stop being friends, despite all their differences!
    After the mane six, Starlight, and Spike rescue them from those little hedgehog things, they immediately go back to the school to open it back up. After convincing all the guardians (except that stubborn old gryphon) to let them stay at the school, the seal is broken, and the school reopened, though Neighsay didn't like that. He left via portal, and class was officially put back in session. After another great song, the episode ends on a happy note with a picture of the teachers and students together.
     
    That's a lot of positive stuff! But what about the negatives?
    While I love that the show is finally talking about racism, I think it's a very tricky subject. The people making the episodes will have to be very careful not to say anything that could be taken the wrong way. Heck, even mentioning it in this blog makes me uncomfortable! However, if this subject is properly addressed, then it could be huge. I'm sure it will be handled well.  
    I HATE the term 'everycreature'. It sounds terrible. I much prefer 'everypony', though I completely understand why they aren't using it, given the show isn't all about ponies anymore. Still though, why couldn't they just say 'everyONE'? It means the same thing, and sounds sooooo much better. Though it's still not as fun to say as 'everypony'.  I know that's just my opinion, but the word 'everycreature' is going to take a lot of getting used to.
     
    Overall, this episode was pretty good, though! I'd give it a 7/10! Good songs, GREAT new characters, and an interesting new storyline, but overall, it's nothing all that special, in my opinion. There have been much better episodes in MLP.
