One thing that has been particularly apparent in my time as a member of the Brony community is the ease in gaining popularity through relatively mediocre attempts at music.

As to not offend anyone, I will not be posting any specific examples of musical works I find relevant to this topic.

Nonetheless, it boggles my mind how much Bronies tend to enjoy gobbling up anything that has even the slightest reference to the show. I have listened to countless songs, both lacking in production value, and enjoyment. However, they still continue to be posted on sites such as Equestria Daily. And for some odd reason, Bronies enjoy giving these "artists" critical acclaim, no matter how mediocre their sound is. For example, I know countless "Brony music artists" who have much much more popularity, yet their sound and music is lacking in many ways. Their compositions can be lazy. Their sound design can simply be nothing but clashing presets. And yet they accumulate Youtube subscribers to the point where they have more than the talents of the Brony community such as Sam Synthis, uThunder, and Replacer.

Perhaps this isn't so much that there is no quality control, as much as the fact that people just don't know any better. This thought can be considered viable according to anyone.

However, it's quite inaccurate and a false explanation.

Bronies listen to all sorts of music, from talented and brilliant bands/musicians such as Pink Floyd, Aphex Twin, Noisia, Dream Theater, etc. These musicians' music are all up to par in terms of sound design, production value, and songwriting merit expected in their respective musical genres. We absolutely adore them, and yet we praise any simple and unimpressive song from a Brony musician? Why is this possible?

Is it perhaps our belief that if we say otherwise, we will hurt them? Are we just too afraid of offending people? Are we hesitant to be honest?

I believe so. I think that we give too much leniency to any "thing" that people call "music". I believe that we do so because we don't want to help them improve, we're too afraid to be critics.

As mentioned in my old blog post about how "Positive Feedback Does Nothing", I believe that we must simply stop hesitating. Criticism is just as strong of a musical appreciation as positive feedback. We appreciate any song when we accept it could use improvements and we see potential in the artist themselves.

Therefore, I ask of all of you to stop being shy with your criticisms, and have the strength to criticize what you believe does not sound good. This is the only way these Brony musicians can improve drastically. They must learn to accept flaws and build upon them in order to improve.

With this debut album as their Genesis, the duo has taken the world by storm. With the most distorted synths and hypnotizing basslines, this is one massive album that combines nostalgic sounds with the most sophisticated sound design. A veteran of the Electronic Dance scene, the genius behind Cirez D and Pryda releases a compilation of brand new Dance material, as well as classics that define the Pryda alias. No stranger to the club life, Prydz proves this with Pryda. This album comes jam-packed with songs that prove the top-notch quality of Prydz's production.

After a massive hiatus, Richard David James, better known as Aphex Twin, returns to the Electronic music scene with Syro. This new album is the perfect way for new fans of Aphex Twin to get a taste of what he's all about.

After listening to this album, it is clear that Anton Zaslavski, better known as Zedd, is a force to be reckoned with. Adopting a more Pop-friendly style and infusing it with his old Electro House production, Zedd creates a powerhouse album that anyone can enjoy. From Pop hits such as Clarity, to heavy Electronic beats with Stache, Zedd reminds us why he is an outstanding name in the future generation of Electronic music.

With such high expectations brought upon him with hit singles such as Icarus, and his remix of Raise Your Weapon, Madeon succeeds on bringing us on an Adventure with this album. Madeon continues to release incredible music, his new album showing a more refined style. Madeon's debut does not disappoint.

Daft Punk's first album of the 2000's fails to disappoint! Often considered two of the leading pioneers of House music, they defend this title with one of the most influential Electronic albums in history. Breeding hits such as One More Time, Daft Punk first reached the mainstream with this album. Danceable and full of emotion, this album is a great Discovery for any music fan!

Hello, guys. It has come to my attention that I've been struck with a feeling of dissatisfaction with the forums. Firstly, I hope you can all understand that this is a personal decision that has been lingering in my thoughts for a long time now. The truth is, I'm tired of the forums. The people who I knew have all but left and I've been incredibly lonely since they've left. The moderators are a bunch of butts who like to give me warning for no real reasons, and I'm constantly harassed by the terrible opinions of the users of this site. I'm sorry but you all disappoint me and I feel that it is time for my departure.

Thanks to all the cool people like Feld0, Arty, SCS, Chigens, and all the other cool people in my friends list and who I've shown respect to in the past.

This is my goodbye, it's been a good run.

I hope that you guys will be able to bring the forums back to its former glory one day.
    April Fools.

Hello, fellow citizens. It is I, Otty, back from the grave. I'm sure all of you are aware of a growing conflict...

Today, Koukatsu violated the agreements found within the Treaty of The Feldian Order and created HIS OWN Chigens Appreciation Day, which goes against our original planned Chigens Appreciation Day. This is an act of war.

Fellow members such as Artemis, Chigens, Makusu, Lightwing, Proton, Windhover, Star Gazer, and many more allied members have joined together to recreate the United MLPF Members of the Feldian Order.

Join our cause! It's the right thing to do~!

Hello, everyone! If you're all a part of my social circle, you should probably know that I had planned to do something special for Chigens. In the past, I've done a lot of things for Chigens, like make her an EP. But that doesn't repay her for all the kindness she has shown me these past two years.

I wanted to make it personal and have this blog as a thank you to Chigens, and to show her I appreciate everything she has done for me.

    Dear, Chigens

I know that in the beginning, you probably thought that I was a huge wimp. I was very shy, wasn't very popular on the forums or online, really. I had a small group of friends and that was it. I was very paranoid about identifying as a member of the fandom because of silly reasons, and you probably noticed that. I wanted to say thank you for being someone who was there for me. When I was still acting like an immature prick, you still stuck by my side, even when everyone else gave up on fixing my behaviour. You really stuck with me through everything, and I appreciate that. I learned a lot of things thanks to you. You taught me to be a better version of myself, and to have more confidence in my actions and myself as a person.

Thanks, Chigens. You're my favourite chicken serpony.

    Love, Otty.~

PS. So yeah, I hope all your friendships are awesome and your future is kickass. Cheers!

Anyways, I hope you all appreciate the fact that Chigens was the one who created KFC. Y'know, Kentucky Fried Chigens?

    Chigens is love.
    Chigens is life.
    Praise our snakey overlord horse.

    "Hi, guys! How's it going?"
"It's going good, Poutine(Proton), how's it going with you, Lightwing?"
"It's going amazing. How is everypony?"
    "I-I'm a seal."
    "Oh."

Lesson : Not everyone is a horse.

*No seals were harmed in the making of this PSA.*

Porter Robinson's debut album, "Worlds", is dropping August 12. This album is a landmark in Porter Robinson's career because it is a big shift in his style of music. Instead of his signature Electro House style, he has departed Electronic Dance Music in general to create something he believes is his true style.

    To quote;
"'I found that the scene had got kind of homogenized,” he ssaid. “So I just wanted to cast off the whole EDM thing and make stuff that was super sincere and try to basically write my favorite music…that is meant to be the most ‘me’ thing possible.'"

Now, what does this album have to do with me? Worlds has changed my view and belief of what "success" truly is. When I first started producing, I was given the impression that success was being the highest earning music producer (at the date this blog has been written, Calvin Harris is the Highest Grossing Music Producer), or to be the most famous music producer. With that, I knew that I'd have a big chance at becoming the richest or the most well-known because my genre of choice is Progressive House (to some, my main genre is called Commercial House). With this, I worked hard to try to replicate the quality and methods of the most popular Electronic artists, including Alesso, Swedish House Mafia, Calvin Harris, etc.

However, things weren't really picking up for me, even when I made songs that sounded very similar in style to the "Commercial House" artists. I was rejected from Equestria Daily more than once (possibly even 50+ times), leaving me upset and ashamed of my music. I got angry and just decided to give up on EqD entirely, aiming to get a record deal instead. For the past two years, I've been making very "commercial" music, and a lot of people were honest and tried to convince me that it all sounded the same.

Overtime, I met more people (including Muffoxx and Tuner Symphon, Nikki Layne, etc.), and these people really helped me improve my music. As my music impnroved, so did my view on music in general. I started to truly see music as a beautiful creation of passion and a vessel to share creativity. I stopped caring about being the richest, or most well-known, and just wanted to share my music with everyone. I started to experiment and try new genres (even found another genre I enjoy producing, Drum N' Bass). This led people to really start supporting me and my music.

When I first heard of Porter Robinson's departure from EDM, I was shocked. I thought, "Wow, this is going to be interesting.". When I first listened to "Sea of Voices", the first single from Worlds, I was amazed. It was beautiful in its ambiance and was filled with emotion. As Porter released more singles from Worlds, it helped teach me the most important lesson I've learned yet, "success" in music isn't being rich, or being super popular, it's being able to make the music you love to make for life.

This concept helped me add new elements to my music, that are truly starting to give my own twist to it. To some, Porter Robinson's Worlds is just another album, but to me it's a masterpiece that changed the way I viewed music and art in general. It truly taught me that it's not about the money or glory of fame, after all.

You can listen to Porter Robinson's Worlds in full, here :

    (US Version): http://www.npr.org/2014/08/04/336105504/first-listen-porter-robinson-worlds
    (International Version): http://www.npr.org/player/v2/mediaPlayer.html?action=1&t=1&islist=false&id=336105504&m=337788892&live=1

I recommend this album for everyone to listen to. It's not your typical Electronic album, but truly an album of beautiful emotion. Worlds is definitely worthy of its name, as it opens up a door to a new world of Electronica that's ready to be explored.

Tracklist (For Those Listening to Worlds):
    Divinity
    Sad Machine
    Years of War
    Flicker
    Fresh Static Snow
    Polygun Dust
    Hear the Bells
    Natural Light
    Lionhearted
    Sea of Voices
    Fellow Feeling
    Goodbye to a World

PS. My favourite song is Fresh Static Snow. 【=◈v◈=】

My lesser known Pony OC, Autumn Rhapsody (same name as my fursona).

Overtime, I've met many people from the Brony community. Along with this, I've also seen many unique and meh pony original characters (OCs). Good and bad aside, I've come to the realization that perhaps they aren't just a way to share pride in belonging to this fandom.. I've come to the realization that it's not just fandom expression, but it also becomes a sort of identity for some people.

Many of my friends aren't Bronies anymore. However, they still continue to use pony OCs on many social media and forum sites they participate in. I ask them why, and they often say it's "because it's my ponysona". After some time thinking about it, I concluded that perhaps it doesn't just stay with the fandom, but it evolves into a part of someone's internet identity. Many people seem to still use their OCs-even if they aren't a fan of the show-in order to help people identify them or recognize them. Pony OCs are distinguishable and help others to recognize their friends or people they're fans of. This is perhaps why artists like Glaze and TheLivingTombstone continue to use their pony OCs, though they don't really seem as interested in the show as they used to.

Looking deeper into this, I've also realized that this is perhaps the reason why I've kept my fursona, Autumn Rhapsody, even though people sometimes consider her as scandalous. It's not just some fun character I decided to make one day. It's a representation of myself online. It's a way for people to recognize me. People usually know me because I like seals, and I have a Mermaid Seal fursona, and that's why I have never made serious changes to her (aside from the recolour back in 2013).

In conclusion, I'd say that people don't just keep their OCs for nostalgia sake, but for the pure reason that their OCs are often used as a way to distinguish yourself from others on the internet. As a result, pony OCs have not just become fandom fun, but have evolved into a way to express your identity online.

Hello, MLPForumers! It is I, Autumn Rhapsody, the World's First Mermaid Seal Reviewer™. Today I'll be reviewing the MLPForums banner based off of the My Little Pony : Friendship is Magic episode, Simple Ways. (By MatrixChicken)

If you are not aware of what it looks like, the link is below.

First off, we will start analyzing it with the premier category, Spiritual Value.

    Spiritual Value
Does it teach moral values? Does it explain principles, follow the guidelines of modern society? Can it be used as a lesson for teachings? These are all questions included in Spritual Value.

First off, this banner clearly shows signs of drug abuse. Rarity is acting unbelievably off character, just for her creepy obsession to Hendertroof. She probably got sads and started abusing drugs and alcohol as a result. She clearly looks like she just smoked cocaine. This is an exact replica of the Britney Spears Scandal, where Britney went bald, started cooking meth, and talking with someone named Jesse, all the while smashing SUV windows and more. I also think this banner supports sexual acts before marriage, as it wants you to "Hoot at your nanny." for a good time. As well, it mocks the lifestyle of farmers, who we very much need for our bacon.

All in all, 2/10 this banner displays messages of racism, discrimination, sexual acts before marriage, and drug use.

Next up, we'll move onto the second half of this review, visual appeal.

    Visuals
Does it have pretty colours? Is it appealing? Does it feature seals? These are a few of the questions that will be featured on the second half of this review.

First off, I'd like to point out the very dull and dirty-looking colours. It makes me sick. The brown clearly represents "getting dirty", which is a metaphor for snorting weed. The pink on top also makes it clear that it wants you to die so it can absorb your soul and blood. That's pretty creepy, dude. The coloured overalls on Rarity are a mockery of Canada, since they're making fun of Justin Bieber meeting Prime Minister Stephen Harper. The hat represents how poor they think Canada is. Clearly, these guys don't know how expensive the new Jeep Moose 2014™ model is. It also shows how much of an effect drugs have on your life. Rarity is getting dirty, and as I said, that means she has been drinking marijuana, snorting weed, and smoking cocaine.

0/10, MatrixChicken is unbelievably racist and mean against Canada.

    Closing
Anyways.. I hope you all enjoyed my thorough review of MatrixChicken's banner, please feel free to add your own comments and input in the description, this has been Autumn Rhapsody : The World's First Mermaid Seal Reviewer™!

    Love, Otty~ <3

    Dearest Feld0,

It has come to my attention that your MLPForums lack taste in art. There are literally no seals anywhere here. All there is are silly ponies. Silly four-legged beasts. :c

Feld0 plz, I'm begging you, add more seals. I guarantee that the Pinniped fandom is a lot bigger than the Brony fandom, and it will give you an increase in members of your glorious community.

In fact, seals are absolutely magnificent, loving, and smart creatures! I really think that you should add more seals to MLPForums.

Also, I think I should be a mod because I like seals and I could be your seal representitive.

    Thx senpai.

  15. Satsuki Kiryuin
Okay, there has been one thing on my mind for a duration of my time being active on MLPForums again. Overanalyzing of the TV Show.

For goodness sake, people! What kind of idiots would think these things of a CHILDREN'S TV SHOW?

No. Just, no. What kind of sick imaginations do you people have? Why the hell would you call it an observation, or even make a topic about it if you have no backing evidence or proof. Honestly, these are the same types of people that call out every music artist's videos for supporting Illuminati. Just because they use simple 2D shapes does not mean they're working with Satan. It's the same people that are quick to judge everything and thinks it's all related to Satan.

This pisses me off. It honestly does. All of these unnecessary and dumb topics on MLPForums that do not need to exist. It annoys me how you're trying to start a discussion or a debate without any backing evidence to support your theory. It's like going to a science laboratory and calling Science "fake" just because you don't believe in it. It's like buying a lamborghini without paying for it at the dealership's because you say you're a millionaire.

It makes no sense, and you wouldn't do it without proof.

Sorry for this crappy blog post, I just wanted to state my opinion on almost 50% of the topics being posted on MLPForums that aren't RP, art, or something related to the media.

With each passing day, I continue to write music or build upon concepts I once dreamed of. The impossible eventually grow
into the possible, and the dreams become reality. Small progress overtime has brought upon gigantic leaps of success in my 4 years of songwriting.

Starting out from humble beginnings, I only truly have now realized the impact of many tiny improvements overtime. From the desperation, the longing, to emulate popular music conventions and be popular as well. I've grown to desire something much more important than simply materialistic impressions from populations that will forget me in time. I've come to desire something much more emotional and intimate than before : I want to make music from the heart.

It all started with the "Felicity"-era music I had created in 2014. It was when I had first pursued an emotional product that conveys something so much more than just "catchy". I desired to create miraculous pieces of music art, where the product evokes emotion within the audience. This was reached with minimal success.

Although my ideas were good, my production was sloppy and definitely not as good as before.

And yet, I cannot help but feel something special with my "Felicity" music.

Being my first attempt at concept-yet-danceable music, it was but a rough draft of my music to come. I improved production-wise as well as theory-wise and the result can be heard within my new music. My new songs (such as the Fall Apart remix, and The Mirror remix- both released) have been met with critical acclaim, people love it!

But then again, why does it feel like they don't amass to the same quality as the stuff I made in 2014?

Why has my music gotten even more professional yet lose what "Felicity" and "Falling Snow" had had?

That is the question I ask myself every single day. I cannot say it is because of sentimentality, because the acquaintances around me have also shared the same thoughts. I try so hard to keep balance between my emotional desire that started with Felicity, and the professional sound brought upon by my own successes. But that raises a question...

Is it possible that the more professional one gets, the farther they are from true emotion music?

True, I have tried my best to evoke emotion and "feels" as much as Felicity, and my new music still sounds much less artificial and forced compared to my music pre-2014, but Felicity continues to be the wave of music I listen to time and time again. Definitely not for nostalgia's sake, as I hold no nostalgia for my older music, I fail to see a reasonable argument for that.

But maybe it's because my old, amateur, messier-sounding music had the great ideas that were not limited by proper chord progressions, proper melodies, and "proper" music.

Alas, that is also proven wrong, as I have created something professional, yet unconventional, but also emotional, and personal.

Demolished were my beliefs that professionalism cannot still have feeling, as I have witnessed myself the hints of personality that are ever-so outpouring within my newer music.

Rather, the experience of a year has actually evolved my belief of "professional" music. For why do people believe that professionalism cannot exist within the same realm of personal desire and emotion? Why do we feel the need to conceal personality in order to feel like a professional? Can there not be a compromise between the two sides that brings us to a better and much more improved personal self, as well as product? Coming-of-age and success stories all beg the question of whether professionalism and personalization are two different realms.

What I like to believe today, is that one can achieve the "professional" improvements of experience and understanding, yet still be able to conserve the creative, yet unconventional, dreams found within the youth. One can always be a youth, be it to a new field of work, or a new art medium.

In conclusion, I'd have to say that one must always hold onto the ideas of youth, but find their own comfortable way to blend it with the mastering of their respective art: something we know as the "professional" side.

    ...

I had forgotten it is halloween.

    Oops.

    Sorry for pretentious rambling.

    This was a mistake.
