To recap, here is a list of the Equestria Girls movies and specials: 2013-2016 Movies: Equestria Girls 1 Rainbow Rocks Friendship Games Legend of Everfree 2017 Half-Hour Episodes: Dance Magic Movie Magic Mirror Magic 2018-2019 TV Movies: Forgotten Friendship Rollercoaster of Friendship Spring Breakdown Sunset’s Backstage Pass Holidays Unwrapped Note that since Hasbro no longer cares about youtube uploads for G4 MLP, all the Equestria Girls movies/specials can all be watched here! Feel free to express your own opinions and rank all these yourself! Below is my personal ranking and opinions on all of these. 12: Equestria Girls 1 - Sunset is an awful villain, the plot is completely incoherent and stupid (Sunset's plan was total nonsense, there was no reason for Twilight and Sunset to not just steal the crown, battle at end made little sense), plot was very uninteresting and by the books, setting was totally boring, the songs were mostly crap (with 1 obvious exception), very little of consequence happens throughout most of the movie. It is redeemed by Twilight's charming dynamic with Spike and the other characters, but it’s still a very weak movie that has nothing else going for it. 11: Rollercoaster of Friendship - It had the same basic plot as Mirror Magic, but both twice as long and much less interesting/well written in every way. The villain was just kind of nasty and annoying this time around rather than very hammy or funny,. The pacing was the worst it was out of any EQG stuff, a huge chunk of it was just the characters vibing around the amusement park. Which was charming, but its content would have been much better suited for the EQG shorts. And the redemptions are getting absurd, and it's really stupid how this is now the 4th EQG special in a row that redeemed its villain. And this is by far the worst and most forced example of it yet. She had no redeeming values shown beforehand at all, and it was explicitly made clear that she had no issue killing a bunch of people just to replace them to make her show better. 10: Spring Breakdown - Basically, the first half of it is terrible but the 2nd half is actually pretty good (but not great), averaging out to being just okay overall. The vast majority of the first half should have been cut. It was a bunch of annoying scenes of Rainbow Dash being an insensitive jerk annoying everybody (we only needed a couple minutes of this to establish the conflict, not half a freaking tv movie), combined with minor subplots that were pointless. It’s uninteresting and annoying, and leaves only the next 22 minutes for the meat of the special. The 2nd half is pretty good, there’s fun action with the ship going down, and same with Sunset, Rainbow and Twilight going through the island and then to Equestria. However, it feels like there could have been a lot more fun and stuff explored with the island/Equestria part of the special, which the special could have had much more time for if the first half did not waste so much time. They should have gotten to the island 7 minutes into this thing, not 22 minutes in. Because of the limited time, all that happens with their adventure is that they fight one monster in the island, then go to Equestria and talk to Twilight. That is it. It’s good, but so much more should have happened here. It is astounding how poorly this special was focused and was at using its time, and it literally feels like a first draft. 9: Holidays Unwrapped - This is a collection of six 7-minute shorts that really should not be considered a “tv movie”. The shorts here are certainly charming with seeing the characters just vibe with each other in low stakes conflicts. But at the same time, I did not find any of the shorts very interesting, and I don’t see having much of a desire to watch this again in the future. 8: Dance Magic - I pretty much feel the same way about this as I do about the Holiday Unwrapped shorts. Charming, but not very interesting or entertaining to me. But it's far from bad, and I can very easily see others liking this and Holidays Unwrapped if slice of life is their thing. 7: Movie Magic - It’s an enjoyable mystery with all the characters on a cool film set. There’s nothing else to say. It’s nothing special, but it’s plain fun and uses the characters well. 6: Legend of Everfree - It was a breath of fresh air to have a movie set outside of the school. I really liked the bonding between Twilight and Sunset, and Gloriosa was actually a really good villain. However, the pacing was pretty bad, and I think it could have easily done more interesting things with being in the woods than it actually did. It’s a solid enough movie, it just feels a little lacking in places. 5: Mirror Magic - This was really fun. Sunset had another interesting personal conflict here, she had great interactions with Starlight, and the humor and action here was great. Juniper was a great villain, just being a total brat who is very hammy. I wasn't crazy about her redemption (she should have had a better reason to give in). But since she didn't do anything too bad, I don't think it was anywhere near as bad as some of the show's other redemptions. 4: Forgotten Friendship - A very intense and emotional conflict with Sunset that kept me very invested. Her bonding with pony Twilight and finally apologizing to Celestia was really cool to see, and I also loved all her bonding with Trixie. It was emotional, intense, funny, and heartfelt. That being said, Wallflower's "redemption" felt pretty darn forced, which does hold this down a bit. 3: Friendship Games - I really like how they introduced human Twilight. Her motivations were very clearly defined, she was very likable, and they actually made her distinct in personality from pony Twilight in a way that made sense. Her story was very enjoyable, and I was rooting hard throughout it for her to become friends with the rest of them. Sunset continued to also be very likable, and had clearly developed further after Rainbow Rocks. The plot was pretty solid, and it had a really fun climax with the games and Twilight becoming a demon. It was really awesome to see Sunlight having developed to the point where she was able to calm down Twilight the way she did. However, this movie still suffered from being a bit overly similar to the first two (it's yet another film taking place at the high school with some sort of competition), and for being slow at places. Still, it’s a great movie. 2: Sunset’s Backstage Pass - Since Holidays Unwrapped was just a collection of shorts, this is in my mind the true finale we had of Equestria Girls. And it’s thankfully really great. The conflict with Sunset and Pinkie Pie was really well done, as it was made clear that when Pinkie Pie made her crucial mistakes, that she actively tried not to beforehand, and afterwards clearly felt terribly about it. So Sunset was justified in being annoyed with her and even angry when Pinkie ruined her night, but at the same time Pinkie herself was still well intentioned and likable. It was very satisfying seeing Sunset adjust to the time loop, lighten up more and more to Pinkie again, and really bonding with her at the end once she realized that she needed to stop obsessing over routine constantly. The story and bonding between the two was wonderful. Sunset’s emotions and change here felt so real and compelling. The moral about perfection is also one that really spoke to me. On top of that, this was really funny, the time loop plot was really fun, the Dazzlings had a cool return (they actually made for a great red herring), and it was consistently exciting throughout. 1: Rainbow Rocks - This movie single-handedly turned Equestria Girls from a forced cash-in with no potential at all, to a franchise that actually had an artistic reason to exist and that can be great. It is a fantastic animated film in general, and it’s easy up there among the best episodes of Friendship is Magic. It's a shame this movie wasn't the first one, as I'm sure many people would have enjoyed this and the later EQG stuff but were turned off by the first movie. Even if Equestria Girls does not interest you in general or the first movie turned you off, please give this one movie a chance. It turned Sunset from a crap villain to an amazing character in just one movie, by showing how she had fully accepted what she had done wrong and was committed to change. Even though everybody else rightfully hated her and she had much to do to become liked again, she was finding joy and fulfillment in her newfound friends, and that was keeping her by. But at the same time, she did not feel that she had the right to fully contribute to the group or be on the same level as the rest of them. Her struggles here felt real, and she was extremely likable and well written here. This single-handedly turned Sunset from the worst villain of the whole show, to being as likable as the mane six. It was very satisfying to see her get the courage at the end to actually sing herself and fight against the Sirens, and even more so when it was clear that the rest of the group had fully accepted her as one of them. It felt completely earned on her part. THIS is how a proper redemption is done. On top of Sunset being amazing and it being super heartfelt, this movie is just plain fun with a super campy concept (a high school band battle with a bunch of magic) that is used to its full potential. The Sirens were both hilarious and threatening. The music is among the best in MLP (Welcome to the Show might be my favorite song in the entire franchise). It is really funny too. So this movie saved a previously worthless franchise, saved a terrible character, handled a redemption in by far the best way MLP has ever done, introduced awesome and memorable villains, is super campy and fun, and has awesome music. What else is there to say?

Quality Guide for MLP:FiM
Lone Traveler replied to Lone Traveler's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
I don't entirely blame Haber purely for the decline, he was one of many people working on Seasons 6-9. I referred to it as the "Haber Era" because he was the showrunner and essentially the face of it. In the interest of fairness, I'll list some Haber written episodes that I actually really enjoyed: Stranger Than Fanfiction: Hilarious, great moral, really fun and meta in a good way. To Where and Back Again: Starlight, Trixie, Thorax, and Discord had a very fun dynamic, and there was an interesting story and the changelings were really cool. Starlight gets to grow and truly redeem herself here, I'd argue its the best use of her in the entire show. Shadow Play: Very fun episode with some cool lore. Molt Down: Solid episode for Spike. Sparkle's Seven: Perfect use of every character, hillarious, fun, and heartwarming. Common Ground: Really compelling and mature conflict. The Last Problem: In spite of all my misgivings about season 9, this was a pretty solid finale overall that was genuinely emotional. -

@Spook Conundrum I am actually a Starlight fan in spite of my dislike for her initial redemption. One of my main issues with Season 6 and 7 was that the show did not feature her more and develop her better. To Where and Back Again is one of favorite episodes of the entire show because it portrayed and used her so well, and she had such a great dynamic with Discord and Trixie. -

Quality Guide for MLP:FiM

Trust me, there are people in the fandom far harsher on MLP than I am. I find Seasons 1-4 great, 5 good, 6, 8, and 9 mediocre, and 7 okay. There's not a single season I consider outright bad, while many others consider the entirety of S6-9 bad, or even everything after 2 or 3 for some Faust purists. I'm looking forward to your response, and I'll explain how I think the Friendship School could have worked properly: 1: Make it an actual school. Don't have the Mane Six (who have busy lives and aren't teachers) teach it. Have actual teachers teaching actual educational classes. They can still have like 1 friendship class ig, but it's still a SCHOOL above all else. Having the already busy mane six be the ONLY teaches and not showing them learn any educational stuff makes no sense. It can still be a "friendship school" by just having the focus of the school be on having the different species all together and promoting Equestrian values. Having friendship being some academic thing that requires a several classes to be taught is really weird to me, since friendship is developed mainly through experience. Celestia didn't teach Twilight friendship, she had her practically learn it through experience. That is why I found the concept forced. 2: The student six and the school should have had much more focus in Season 8 and especially 9. Seasons 8 and 9 suffered from taking too few risks, not for taking too many. Although they were willing to introduce the School of Friendship, it seemed like the show was scared of deviating too much from the norm, so the student six only had a few episodes in Season 8 and were a complete non presence in Season 9. Since I found the established characters flat and uninteresting by this point and I did not like most of the episodes featuring them, I think these seasons would have been far better if the Student 6 and Friendship school was developed far more. Even if it was done poorly, it would have at least given these seasons a new style and dynamic over the previous ones to give a sense of uniqueness and purpose. As it is these seasons were halfway stuck between trying to be unique and trying to be more of the same, and they fail in both of these departments imo. -
Here is a chart explaining my personal views of how I would divide up the eras of MLP by quality and how consistent they are with the original intentions behind the show. Note that my personal season ranking is 4>2>3>1>5>7>6>9>8. I actually prefer the McCarthy Era over the Faust Era overall, but I recognize how the show changed. I completely understand why some strongly prefer the Faust Era, though I believe MLP didn't decline until after McCarthy and the veteran writers left. I really hope this opens up some good discussion about the show, I would love to hear where you all agree and disagree. If any of you see any grammar errors, factual errors, have ideas on how to better phrase things, or have any good points or analysis that you think could be added to the chart, please tell me! I can always edit it and re-post! Also, here is a link to the Google Slides of this. If you want to make your own version of this chart, feel free to copy it and edit!

In my view the decline in quality of MLP is clearly measurable. It's simple. The great Seasons 1-4 were written by the OG writers (MA Larson, Meghan McCarthy, Amy Keating Rogers, etc) and the mediocre Seasons 6-9 were written by the new writers (Josh Haber, Michael P. Fox, Micheal Vogel, etc), with Season 5 being the good-but-not-great transition between the two. Seasons 6-9 objectively lack the spirit of the original show, because it lacks the writers. The decline of the online popularity of the show reflects this perfectly. According to this google trends graph, MLP was at its peak of popularity in Season 4 and the first half of Season 5, with the popularity declining after the first half of S5 aired and taking a nosedive into 2016, never recovering. This completely matches with how I felt the show declined in quality as Season 5 went (but still remained good with mainly og writers, though the season got worse as it went and the new writers and flaws crept up more and more) and took a nosedive in quality in Season 6 and never recovered. I find it cool how this graph showed the popularity declining exactly the way the show's quality declined imo, it makes me proud of how many people abandoned MLP at what I saw as the proper time to abandon it. By season 6 the show lost its initial charm in the eyes of most fans and was worse. Despite the flaws and story features creeping in that would doom the later seasons, Season 5 felt like a last hurrah for the fandom, with episodes such as Slice of Life and Amending Fences getting fans truly excited. Once the Starlight redemption happened and Season 6 turned out to be mediocre and charmless for many people, a lot of people lost interest. I personally stopped watching about this time (Though I finished the show years later). This is why I wish the show had ended with an altered version of Season 5 where more loose ends were wrapped up and Cutie Re-mark was replaced with a series finale, then the show would of had all good seasons and an entirely strong legacy instead of being a show that declined and lost most of its fan-base halfway through. In my mind Seasons 1-4 is essential canon, Season 5 is a flawed but overall good addition to the show (except for the finale, that was the clear start of Haber Era), and Seasons 6-9 are mediocre and felt like a different show due to the almost entirely different staff. I understand some people strongly prefer Seasons 1-2 over 3-4 and feel that Faust leaving or Twilicorn ruined the show instead of Haber, but the the evidence clearly supports that those things did not correlate with the fandom's decline, rather Season 6 and the staff turnover did. Note: Google Trends Graph can be viewed in detail here: https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=2011-08-01 2017-07-01&q=%2Fm%2F0czdsgs,my little pony, mlp

NOTE: I no longer agree with this below post. I still really like Season 3, but I now consider it worse than Seasons 4 and 2, and my season ranking is 4>2>3>1>5>7>6>9>8 The entire time I have watched MLP, I have considered Season 4 to be the best season. However, I have also always thought that Season 1 and 2 also had clear advantages. They were more charming, more funny, and came off as more unique compared to other cartoons. They were what built the show and made so many people fell in love with it. However, I find Season 4 to have more creative ideas, more great songs, better animation, better writing, a fantastic conclusion to Twilight's arc, and a great season long arc developing the characters. These qualities for me were enough to make it my favorite season in spite of it sacrificing some of MLP's magic. From my experience in the fandom, everyone's favorite Season seems to be 1, 2, 4, 5, and sometimes 7. I have rarely ever seen it argued that seasons 3, 6, 8, or 9 are the best. In the case of 6, 8, and 9, this is because each of these seasons came after the show's peak in quality for most people and have clear issues. Even those who prefer the newer seasons usually agree that Season 7 is superior to those three. However, Season 3 is a different story, since it came right in the middle of MLP's golden era, the show's peak in popularity. However, Season 3 had one glaring issue that for most people made it the worse than the others: It only has 13 episodes. Many people like Season 1 the best for it being the show at it's most simple, earnest and charming, as well as introducing us to the world and characters which we love. Many like Season 2 the best for doubling down on the humor and charm of Season 1 with improved writing and animation. Many (including me up until very recently) like Season 4 for its fantastic conclusion to Twilight's arc, it's creative concepts, its constant songs, and its great character development. Season 3 on the other hand, lacks the clear indentity that these other seasons all have due to its short length and rushed nature. Season 3 certainly had many things to enjoy for people of course. It continued the great qualities of Season 2 while also being more ambitious. However, those who preferred the more simple and charming side of MLP generally preferred the full length season 1 or 2, while those like me who preferred the more creative and ambitious side of MLP generally preferred the full length Season 4. For all the great quality Season 3 had, there was no reason for anyone to consider it their favorite when longer seasons did the things that it did as well. I have always found Season 3 to be underrated due to its short length. I personally have always considered it to be the 2nd best season of the show (behind Season 4). My previous reasoning for this was simple: I consider 7 of the 13 episodes to be among my favorites of the entire show. About 54% of the Season is top tier MLP content for me. On top of that there are 3 more episodes that I really like, and 2 I find okay, and only 1 I actually dislike. No other season of the show provides quality this consistent for me, even Season 4. Season 3 has episode quality better and more consistent than Seasons 1 and 2, as well as more creative and substantive plots and the same charm as those seasons. So I have always considered Season 3 the best of the first 3 seasons .While Season 4 has about the same proportion of episodes I really like as S3, I would only rank 11 of its episodes among my favorites, which is only about 42%. And I find the best episodes in Season 3 (Sleepless in Ponyville, Too Many Pinkie Pies, Crystal Empire, etc)) to basically be equivalent in quality to the best episodes in Season 4 (Twilight's Kingdom, Pinkie Pride, Rarity Takes Manehatten, etc). However, in spite of Season 3 having the best episode quality of the whole show, it also has clear disadvantages compared to Season 4. Season 4 has much more content, has a great season long arc, a superior premiere and finale, and a satisfying payoff to Twilight's arc that is not rushed like it is in Season 3. Season 4's clear structural advantages and more content has always been enough to outweigh Season 3's advantage in episode quality, as Season 4 is still close enough in that department. In the past I made a topic describing how I would split up the show into 5 different eras, based on its quality and focus. (https://mlpforums.com/topic/196366-rank-the-5-eras-of-friendship-is-magic/). I recently came across a similar topic by @Them's Seeing Poniessplitting the show up into 3 eras (https://mlpforums.com/topic/182379-which-era-of-the-show-do-you-consider-the-best/) in a similar fashion. I split up the first 5 seasons into the Faust Era (Season 1, first 24 eps of Season 2), The McCarthy Era (Canterlot Wedding, Seasons 3-4) and I put Season 5 into its own category. TSP on the other hand, called Seasons 1-3 the Faust Era and Seasons 4 and 5 the McCarthy Era. I thought about it, and I actually find this way of splitting it to be just as valid. I considered Canterlot Wedding (which was written by McCarthy and directly preceded Faust leaving) the start of the McCarthy era because the introduction of Candace and Shining Armor represented a big addition to the lore of the show and a shift in focus into more worldbuilding, action, and more substantive and serious stories. Canterlot Wedding and Crystal Empire together show Twilight's character shifting away from mainly just being a student learning about friendship. Season 3 had only a couple of friendship lessons at the end compared to Seasons 1 and 2 having them in nearly every episode. At this point Twilight had a good understanding of friendship and it was clear that Celestia had greater plans for her. The focus at this point was more on her developing her magic, abilities, and character. Season 3 also generally had episodes with more ambitious concepts than before (Too Many Pinkie Pies, Magic Duel, Sleepless in Ponyville, Keep Calm and Flutter On). That being said, splitting it after Season 3 also makes sense because while the tone of the show barely shifted between 2 and 3, there was a very noticeable shift between Seasons 3 and 4. And of course Twilight became an Alicorn. While the storytelling and focus shifted in Season 3, the show felt just as cartoony and whimsical as in Season 2. I said in my post on the eras of the show that Season 3 and 4 are less charming and cartoony than Seasons 1 and 2. I now realize that I was only partially correct; this difference only actually applies to Season 4. Season 3 is in a weird middle ground of having the superior narrative focus, storytelling, and creativity of Season 4, but the superior tone, charm, and humor of Seasons 1 and 2. Season 3 is supreme in both of these categories in my view, while Seasons 1-2 and 4 are each only supreme in one of these categories. Season 3's advantage here is something that I have previously never really thought about. I previously thought of it as a mixture between S1-2 and 4, when it is actually the best of both worlds now that I analyze this. And I think that having these qualities is the reason Season 3's episodes were so consistently great for me compared to every other season. Once I started analyzing this, I started seriously questioning myself. Is Season 4 really the best season? Season 3 has it solidly beat in episode quality. Just like Season 4, it is very creative and fun with its concepts with more substantive stories. Unlike Season 4, Season 3 fully maintains the charm and uniqueness that Season 1 and 2 had. It has the best qualities of both the Faust and McCarthy eras. Most of Season 3's episodes would have felt completely in place during Season 2, just on the more ambitious side of that season. For all of the great qualities Season 4 has for me, the fact still remains that it sacrificed a level of charm and earnestness that initially hooked me into the show, and is less memorable than Seasons 1-2 despite me finding it better. Season 3 did not have to sacrifice this magic. Yes, Season 3 is flawed. While I adore Keep Calm and Flutter On and Magical Mystery Cure, they were still very crucial episodes of the show that were sadly rushed. It was really dumb to have 2 Spike episodes and no Rarity episode. Season 4 has a superior premiere and finale, and Season 3 lacks its story arc. But for all of Season 3's structural weaknesses, I frankly find the charm and episode quality to make up for it. MLP is at its heart a comedy and feel good show. Most people enjoy it for that rather than specifically for its writing quality or structure. So I will prefer the more charming , but rushed and uneven Season 3 over a more structurally sound but less charming Season 4. I now consider Season 3 to be the best season of MLP, which is extremely impressive considering it has half the episode count of every other season. It is crazy how a simple realization and change in perspective managed to change an opinion of mine that I have firmly held for years. Is there anyone else out there who considers Season 3 the best season? I would really like to know, since I don't know if I have seen an argument before for it being the best. By the way, my season ranking is now: 3>4>2>1>5>7>9>6>8

This is by far the worst song that MLP G4 ever did, this thing is so cringe that its genuinely painful to watch. My favorite MLP song is either Smile or This Day Aria, its hard to say which I prefer since they are two completely different types of songs. Also, here's a good video from someone who did rank all the songs:

Guilty Pleasure Episodes?
Lone Traveler replied to Lone Traveler's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Guys, I said that for purposes of this topic, a guilty pleasure episode is one you enjoy despite finding significant flaws in, not just an episode you like lol. I'll add Three's A Crowd to my list, because the episode had garbage pacing and had no excuse to barley develop Cadence's character considering she was in the episode so much. Still, its an hilarious Discord episode despite these flaws to the point that I didn't even notice these problems until after multiple viewings. -
I am defining a guilty pleasure episode as an episode you think has significant writing issues and could have been improved greatly, but you still really like it due to other qualities. Here are some examples for me: Feeling Pinkie Keen: The story, moral, and Twilight's characterization is awful. That being said, this episode is hilarious and Pinkie Pie is super likeable so I love it anyways. Spike at Your Service: The writing, particularly involving Spike's characterization is really bad here. That being said, I find the interactions between the characters here to be really funny so I kind of like this episode and I can get past the frustrating and annoying elements. Keep Calm and Flutter On: Yes, this episode is very rushed, Fluttershy comes off as manipulative, and we do not get to see any believable friendship developing between Discord and Fluttershy. That being said, this episode is absolutely hilarious and fun to watch, so I do not care. Discord's antics and trolling combined with the fast pace and the reactions from the other characters make this a joy to watch. Equestria Girls (1st Movie): Sunset is an awful villain, the plot is completely incoherent and stupid (Sunset's plan was total nonsense, there was no reason for Twilight and Sunset to not just steal the crown, battle at end made little sense), plot was very uninteresting and by the books, setting was totally boring, the music is mostly crap, very little of consequence happens throughout most of the movie. In spite of all of this, I still really like this movie, mainly because I really enjoy Twilight's dynamic with Spike and the other characters. Just having all of this enjoyable character interaction from the perspective of my favorite character managed to save a movie for me that had nothing else going for it. Really shows how strong the characters and the charm of MLP can be. Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep: The episode was very rushed (should have been a two parter) so it lacks creativity, with really cool concepts that deserved so much more time to develop and have fun with. It is a shame the dream world was not explored further on this show, there is so much fun that could be had with it. Also, Luna's characterization was handled very poorly, with the issue of chronic and self destructive self harm being bizarrely addressed and "solved" within like 2 minutes. Luna clearly had serious issues here that short speech from Twilight is not going to solve. And Celestia, the person she hurt the most, wasn't even in the episode. In spite of all the missed potential and the failed self harm plot point, I still love this episode because I love the cool dream stuff so much that I can still enjoy it in spite of its flaws. But if there was one episode of MLP I wish was rewritten, this would be it. Fake It Til You Make It: Fluttershy has no motivations for her actions here, so her being so mean is completely illogical and out of character for her. She basically became a robot for 15 minutes just doing whatever the plot wanted her to do. In spite of the writing here being totally broken, seeing Fluttershy be so assertive and taking on so many roles was really funny, so I still like the episode. School Raze: The plot here is a total mess, mostly because of the stupidity of the concept of the school and the season's utter failure to properly develop the young six outside of like 3 previous episodes. Neighsay is also written very poorly, with no motivations for his actions or beliefs whatsoever. That being said, I still find this episode fun to watch, as I enjoy the young six's dynamic, the villains featured here, and getting to see Tierk again. Spring Breakdown (Equestria Girls) The plot of this took far too long to get going with weird subplots during the first part that had no revolution. Once the plot finally kicked in halfway, the episode splits its time between two half baked plots (the ship sinking and the visit to Equestria), both of which had much wasted potential. The episode ended with everyone having to travel to Ponyville, which was insulting because that would have made a great concept for an episode! But instead of only got teased. The pacing and focus here is so bad that it feels like it was a first draft. In spite of the frustration of the lack of focus and missed potential here, its still a fun episode to watch due to all the action going on. Ending of the End: The Grogar twist was a complete disaster and there was once again quite a bit of missed potential. I find Beginning of the End to be a far more solid and enjoyable version of this episode. That being said, it's still an enjoyable and action packed finale taken on its own, if one of the weaker two parters.
