I thought of something before like "Legends of Equestria" and it gives you insight of like ancient stories of the creatures from Equestria, and stories and plots involving them, not just the ponies, like, say King Guto, and King Grover, or even Queen Novo pre storm king, Starswirl and the other previous elements, maybe even date back show us some old Luna and Celestia... i think this stuff would be cool to see, how Equestria was shaped and what all went into making it what it became. Show us the full story with Tirek and Scorpan to as explained by Celestia, but only remastered in a cooler version where we see the whole thing play out... I could see this being really cool and giving us all background that we have probably headcanoned before, show us Celestia vs Discord, show us how Chrysalis came to be in Equestria, like her parents and what not, think it would be interesting...

Try to imagine this new OC forming in your mind. What does he look like? How does he act? What is (was?) his dynamic with EJ when they spent time together? What does he like to do?

Feel free to let your imagination go wild and make up as much as you want! This is your OC after all, not mine.

Have a look at this site called Coolors (click here), it’s pretty straightforward to use and you can use it to help you decide on colours that will go well together.  

For your kirin OC, personally, I'm not sure a yellow mane would go well with a pale green body, your original choice of blue sounds better to me. But, at the end of the day, your OC is about you, so you should take some time to decide what looks best to you. Try to go with more pastel colours, nothing too bright. Kirin typically use earthy tones in their design, but you don’t have to do that (I didn't), just giving you an idea if you’re stuck. ^^ Your characters' personality and backstory can also affect their design, if you've thought of those yet. Spots can look cute, too.
