The way I see it, we're stuck with the choice, be pro Princess Celestia or Queen Chrysalis, if Canterlot Royals left Equestria unprotected, Queen Chrysalis almost certainly would have won, I think this is why Chrysalis ruled the alternate future in Cutie Remark episode, there was nopony left to defend the kingdom save the resistance led by Zecora. If you and I were our OCs in our fan fiction AU's, we'd be left with the inevitable decision of choosing sides, and given Chrysalis cruelty and outright disregard for the well being of even her subjects, I would pick somepony who at least tried to help others and did show compassion in various instances as well as a passion for restorative justice for reforming villains like Discord. I'd love Equestria too much to just betray Celestia if we were there with them, even if I found some decisions by Celestia questionable.
