  1. I'm sorry. It's really not your fault. I just got picked on at school because I have friends who like this stuff. This topic just made me remember that

It always makes me sad to hear that people get picked on for this kind of thing,  I wish you luck in avoiding the kinds of people who do that, and in dealing with them if they can not be avoided.

  2. I don't understand why people keep splintering off into different factions because they don't want to be perceived to be associated with the other groups. Furry or Brony in the end of the day every hater outside of those categories is going to look down on them.

A simple fear of being hated and the natural desire to get along with others ide imagine. Thankfully both groups are becoming more accepted as the days go on.

  3. I feel slightly insulted by this. I have no relation to being a furry, and I have never thought of myself as one.

A question of the similarity was my intent, not offence. By why would you be offended. Furry is not a derogatory term. I can understand why you would refute being seen as a a furry( as that is apparently not your thing) , but not why you would be offended by the comparison.

  4. How about we mix the too? Which sounds better: Froney or Brofurr?

Naming the offspring of the two fandoms is a bit difficult, neither have the ring of brony or furry. Though i wonder if a name for the crossover of the two would be useful.

  5. Wrong. Bronies and furries aren't close to one of the same. To be a furry is to be a fan of the anthropomorphic style in general, but not all bronies are into this. To be a brony is to be a fan of FIM. A lot of bronies are there for the story, characterization, art style, morals, whatever. Not every brony is into the anthro concept. To say all furries are bronies is to claim that all bronies are "/b/tards" (or "/b/ros"). Not every brony goes to 4chan, and I have no interest in being a part of that hellhole.

You're pulling a strawman; never use them. A lot of bronies aren't furries because that's not what they're interested in. (Any brony who is a furry separatist, though, is like what I say to brony separatists: "You perpetuate the stereotypes more accurately than the people you try and fail to disassociate with by saying, 'I'm better than them.'")

Well said, i my self wish the 2 would have less conflict, because both are very good. I believe it is the worry that either fandom will be hurt by association with the other that causes hate based separatism.

  6. A somewhat related video that does a good job at explaining things.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhDHx6Cisdg

I've seen that, very good but lingers a bit on the fetish part.

The similarities end in mannerisms; Furries are generally leaning towards furry content, Bronies lean towards pony content and things to do with MLP in particular. The creativity and works for which both fandoms are known are different too.

You could say they are kind of similar, hence why some people make the confusion, but it's not exactly the same.

True,As a member of both i have need a lot of cross over, witch is why i was curious about the similarities in the first place.

  7. Still disagree you can't say drawing my little pony art anthro or feral makes it furry when its for the my little pony fandom you're fanatic for that unless you say other wise music considering its all based around the show that has nothing to do with furry at all written production still about my little pony unless personally its not.

I meant in the fact that they both do, not that the substance of the music is the same. Just the the two fandoms seem to me to be cut from the same cloth as it were.

  8. How one means a man who watches my little pony or some one who watches it out of the intended age group and an other means a fan of anthropomorphic animals to say bronys are a fan of anthropomorphic animals and furrys are fans of my little pony is inaccurate.

i did not mean they are one in the same more so the community's are similar in traits such as art, music and written production. Though you do have a point.

  9. Another point I would like to bring up is so what if you like the art work anthro and feral it makes it more relatable to the show for the shows sake.

Good point, i believe it is intentional.

people should let people define what they are and not impose things on others like that, especially for something like fandoms.

True as it gets, though form a category based perspective they are similar.

  10. A question I have is why is it so important that any fandom that touch's anthro needs to accept they are furrys not every one identifies as one and who do you think you are forcing them to, I don't try and force ever man who watches my little pony to say they are a brony which is harder to deny then saying you're a furry because its just a fandom.

I was making no attempt to force any label on any one, i just wanted to see what my fellow bronies thought of this. I apologize if this caused any unpleasant feelings. That was in no way my intent.

  11. Lets say that is true dosn't mean you were fanatic about it or any of the anthropomorphic features in mlp you could just like the story.

very true, i wasn't intending to say "It is anthro there fore furry" I was more trying to say it is indeed anthro "

  12. Furries like anthropomorphic animals. MLP features none of these, so no.

The ponies of mlp fit the dictionary definition of anthropomorphic(Granted so dose the tea cup from beauty and the beast) I was asking in a more fan base similarity kind of way. Also, nice avatar, i  love the look on his face :D

  13. Well..maybe the cute icons would be familiar.

But i would have no idea what to talk about there

Being a Brony, is being a Fan of a Show. Being a Furry would be...well, like...i dont know, most furry sites have giant roleplay sections and that stuff and im not interested in that. And other than that, i guess the Forum will have subtopics where i could talk about my favourite series, but then i prefer sites like this, who my favourite series is not just a little subtopic. I have registered myself on a Furry site, like years ago. But i never posted anything. And i lost interest.

Makes sense, the mlp community is a little easier to talk in do to the fact we all have a common talking point in the show.

  14. Well, i dont have anything to do with Furrys, i dont have a Fursona nor do i talk to furrys or have interest in register myself on some furry forums.

But i automatically end up on furry sites when i search for Mlp stuff and upload my art there, so...i dont know. If someone wants to call me Furry, im ok with that.

I mean, i like cartoon animals. So, i guess i am a kind of Furry then.

Well that all depends on how you identify, if you did join a furry forum i am sure you would find it very similar to a brony forum though. .

The way I always saw it was "if you are a fan of anthropomorphic animals, you are a furry. A furry is a fan of anthropomorphic animals".

I don't like My Little Pony because they are anthropomorphic ponies. They could be anything else and I'd like it just the same.

For example, I enjoyed Equestria Girls and Rainbow Rocks.

Them being human changed nothing for me and I don't like MLP because they're ponies. I have no interest in anthropomorphic animals.

    tumblr_lby6fmxe2C1qbvk7po1_400.gif

A valid point if i ever saw one.

  15. Like I said its a fandom first the only reason the word brony and furry have definitions is so it has substance but in order to be part of ether you need to identify you're self as one and fit some of its definition.

True, though i will never under stand those who push so hard for them to be made separate either.(Not in a category sense but in the sense of shunning one group or another to avoid association)

  16. The way I see it is they are a fandom first and the first part of being in a fandom is identifying you're self as part of the fandom second its really unfair how broad people define furry so just because I like something with anthropomophic any thing i'm all of a sudden a furry. Yes I like my little pony and the anthropomorphic side of it but so what I don't like it as a whole or for the sake of it the only reason I give 2 squats about it is its part of my little pony. Furry isn't even a real term  but if you are part of some thing they deem sub furry as a tag you are now a furry so it just went from a tag to you being part of a fandom which is complete bs.

I suppose the want to sub classify bronies as furries comes from a want to better understand, as some do not under stand why bronies like mlp but may under stand what furries are. Thus lumping the two together.

  17. It's okay! :) I figured, and what I said wasn't particularly pointed towards you, it's just that this has been brought up before quite often. My apologies. ^^

    No problem friend :)

Anthropomorphism is not 100% about physical forum. Anyway, the ponies are physically anthroized to a point. They can use their hooves as hands and walk and stand on two legs for extended periods of time.

My point exactly, tho it being Anthrow dose not make it furry. I wonder where the line for that lies?
