  1. Hmm.. I think that.. You sound qualified as a professional coat rack. :D

And as a moose, I'm a solitary creature, but also attend closely to the needs of my offspring and companions. Loyalty: ponies aren't the only ones who have it! The moose is a noble steed, indeed, strong and with a piercing gaze!

  2. There's actually a vaguely similar, very ancient thread about coffee that I posted in. Had that one not been floating around out there, I probably would have made a coffee thread. x)

Wow, after going through all these posts, I can only come to one conclusion. I love coffee way more than anyone on here. I have coffee all day. Literally, all day. I make it when I get up and keep it coming. When I go shopping, it costs me roughly $150 a month on coffee alone.

I too drink it all day long. ;)

  3. I rely heavily on visual cues when talking with people, so text devoid of emoticons and playful verbiage can seem a bit mechanical to me. Cold, perhaps. But this is actually how I spoke for a long time, because I've seen so many people use emoticons ironically and sarcastically that I interpreted them as veiled hostility in any context. Coming here is actually what changed that perception because I saw so many people using them to convey sincere lightheartedness and to make conversations more pleasant.

Now I put more effort into reading between the lines instead and have become very adept at it, so I appreciate the abundant use of emoticons now. I use them as often as I can to lighten things up. :D

If it is a serious discussion topic though and I have something kind of deep to convey, I will take on a more serious tone.

I love using emoticons! :) I often use the smiley face, or the :P face when I'm joking. I actually feel like I'm more expressive online than in real life.

So do I. Not that I'm completely emotionless irl, but I am a very mellow and subdued person most of the time. That's just how I roll. Perpetually chill. Funny that I can seem more lively through text on a screen. x)

  4. @Jeric, @CadetGrey, , thanks for thinking of me. It's kind of hilarious too, I must admit.

Alright, so yeah, I sure do love me some coffee, as so many people are aware. xD

For those who knew this but didn't know exactly what I spring for, I love my coffee dark, strong, and a bit of bitterness isn't unwelcome. These days, most of my coffee is made in a Keurig for convenience's sake. Sometimes I'll make it with my own grounds, but most of the time I just use a K-cup. Such a huge variety out there and most of them are really good. Don't be deceived though. There are some really lousy ones out there, like Grove Square, which happens to be instant coffee. Forgive me, but I honestly don't see the point of instant coffee in the form of a K-cup.

So basically I'm into French and Italian roasts, typically the strongest and boldest of the bunch. My coffee is traditionally consumed black with no sugar or sweetener of any kind. Just plain, black coffee. The only notable exception to this being when I make them Irish, which involves some kind of alcoholic Irish cream (Bailey's, St. Brendan's, etc) and possibly some creme de menthe and brown sugar. Nothing more comforting on a cold, rainy, or snowy day. ^_^

  5. I chose "other." I'm all about ponies and can safely say that I'm into them more than I am any other interest I have or have ever had. Got merchandise all over my apartment, gigs and gigs of art stored up, and I spend a significant portion of my free time on pony forums. I also go to meetups and conventions. You could say I'm pretty hardcore, but despite the substantial investment of time and money, I still have a solid grip on reality and don't let the necessities of life go neglected. Real-world obligations come first.

Can't really call me a hipster, a moderate, or an artist in my opinion. Shipping? Meh. That leaves "other." I am my own kind of brony. The alarmingly obsessive, societal pariah, yet still responsible and socially capable adult brony.

  6. I haven't written a backstory or anything of the sort for him. He's supposed to be somewhere between an OC and a ponysona, so all I have in my head is that he's a massive introvert who can have bursts of gregariousness when necessary, loves earth tones (as evidenced by his color scheme), has an eye for interior design, and loves coffee.

He's a unicorn with a candlestick for a cutie mark. His special talent as far as his magical abilities are concerned is illusion, specifically where it comes to altering lighting in any way. His illusory abilities are for entertainment and practical purposes, mostly. He's not a cliched pony god of war or a ponified Aizen Sousuke, so combat usage of his magic wasn't on my mind. I think there are more than enough (read: too many) OCs out there like that already. Silhouette is just a guy. :P

So far I don't have much art of him. I have a couple of pieces that (Ashley) drew, something from @Casy, and something from Kelisah. Behold:

    post-6104-0-29315800-1408564410_thumb.png

This is the first piece sketched after I gave Ashley a description. The coffee bean was used as a cutie mark placeholder as I had not yet decided upon one. Thanks Ashley! <3

She later made me this adorable piece of him ordering coffee. I wonder where that idea came from?

This is the first piece that was actually commissioned. I gave the original piece by Ashley and a description to Key Gear, who passed them on to Kelisah. Thanks to him too! <3

And this is a little something I had @Casy make. Notice a common element forming? He's sipping a cup of coffee. :P

I'm not a roleplayer, although I could still come up with origins and stuff for him. We'll see.

  7. Generally speaking, I don't like to play games that are in the phase of recruiting guinea pigs to iron out problems. While they may change, improve, and add more content as time wears on, most of my interest will be expended and the core elements of the game explored prior to it receiving the finishing touches, and my appreciation of subsequent updates diminishes. Just how I am with most games. I prefer waiting for the finished product.

However, I did break from that for Legends of Equestria. Tried getting in on the action during one of their open server events prior to this last one, and after many, many failed attempts was finally able to get into a game so unstable on servers so overburdened that I couldn't play for more than a couple of minutes at a time. Tried hopping on this latest one too, and I couldn't even download the client. They're clearly over their hosting capacity every time they do one of these things. I think it's great they're using community feedback to shape ongoing development in this manner, but right now it's not worth the effort to me.

  8. I wouldn't defend anti-bronies, but I wouldn't go on a counter-crusade either. As pointed out in the OP, it's possible to hate the show without being a prick to everyone who loves it. And most people who aren't bronies fit into that category, so be careful not to denounce everyone who isn't a fan as an "anti-brony."

Don't try throwing haters a bone for any reason. It's pointless and you're liable to get bitten anyway. On the other hand, I've been supremely annoyed by the "fuck the haters" mantra some have been spouting since day 1 of the fandom. Not only does it tarnish the morals of the show itself and much of what the brony fandom at large tries to represent, but fighting hate with hate will only get you more of it.

Most of these people don't even believe what they're saying, and those who do only believe it because that's what they want to believe, not for any reason that resembles rationality. Whether you defend them or attack them, you're doing yourself a great disservice as well as the rest of us. Just give them the brush off and go back to enjoying MLP. Nobody but you can hinder that.

  9. Creative writing is uncharted territory for me, though something I would like to explore. Most of what I've written has either been to inform or admonish, and in those I excel, but my vocabulary and approach are dependent upon my audience. One should try to write at the level of those intended to read the piece, regardless of their purpose.

A few fanfic ideas have been swirling about in my mind for a while now. Should I ever devote the time to setting them down on paper, I'll probably need some critiquing from a few experienced friends.

  10. The best way to cook bacon is in a cast-iron skillet, especially one that has been used for the task several times before. Cast-iron cookware seems under-utilized and unappreciated these days by so many people. If not available, it can be cooked in a regular pan or even in the microwave, but if done in the microwave, put a paper towel or two under the bacon to soak up some of the grease.

Bacon is best when slightly chewy, imo. I don't mind crispy bacon though. As for brand, I don't have a preference, but it's gotta be "thick-sliced." ^_^

  11. I'm an INFJ. According to the quiz thing on the first page:

"Astute observers who take interest in the needs and desires of others. Private, good-natured, worldly, and quick to make connections between complex concepts. Value self-control and the pursuit of the greater good, but often have difficulty attending to their own problems."

    I think it's accurate.

  12. Besides people assuming that I'm lecherous and being surrounded by guys who are, and who think something is wrong with me if I don't think about sex 24/7 or have swimsuit model posters and calendars everywhere, not much. Seems you have to work harder to get closer to people and make friends too. And to be quite honest, I don't like the way my boxers ride up on my groin after a long day of walking around in the heat.

people always assume i'm a guy online, so i guess girls aren't 'supposed' to be like me

People assume you're a guy online because the majority of people on the internet are guys, and it's natural for one to assume that people they've never seen or met before are more or less like themselves.
