Recently mt time here on Earth has been more or less "meh" I attempted suicide, asked out a girl, etc. Sounds rather pessimistic I know, though it got better. You're probably asking yourself how it got better. Okay maybe not... Anyways, I stumbled across the most beautiful thing ever not too long ago. Honestly, it should be deemed as one of those motivational thingies. For those that want it, here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3qus-O2uGA
For those that saw it just now, all your troubles that are looming you are now gone.
Where to start... Alright, I went to a friends house and played TimeSplitters. The next day I was dragged to church. (I'm atheist for those that don't know) So they started saying the usual God is great B.S. Then, they started talking about how homosexuality is the bane of humanity. That is when I snapped. There are two things I can't stand. One is when people say homosexuals are evil. The other one being people that ridicule the mentally handicapped. So naturally, I called B.S on that claim outloud. I asked them what their beef is with homosexuals. They said it was against the bible to be homosexual. I asked them to tell me a verse which speaks against it. They brought up the classic Leviticus 18:22. I stated that Leviticus was in the Old Testement. Therefore, doesn't apply to Christian ideaology. They got pissed off. They went on and said not to place God before anything. But, what pissed me off was when they said the reason for all the unrest in the middle east was because the put Allah before God. Now that is some grade A bullshit. For starters, Allah and God are the same thing, just named differently. Second, there are other things going on numbnuts. Naturally, I spoke out again, got him, his family and I kicked out of the church. So my friend hates me now. Later, I grew the balls to ask out a girl I liked for quite a while. I got rejected and fell into a deep sadness. We've only spoke once since. (Which I'll get into later) Then, my best friend told me that she liked me since we've met. Me being in a shitty mood was unintetionally a dick. Now she won't talk to me. Then after that ordeal, I got into a fucking fight. Some guy started punching me just because I'm atheist. (Don't know how he found out) So we proceeded to fight. I kicked his ass. In fact, I broke his nose. (Probably because I'm 6 ft tall in 8th grade) So I got suspended. When I came back to school, EVERYONE thought and still thinks I'm a fucking brute that beats up everyone. Now no one will talk to me. All my friends except one talks to me now. Even then, I don't see her much. I only see her 2 times a day. On the bus ride going to and from school. About that conversation with the girl I used to like. We started talking about homosexuality. It turns out she hates gay people just because of biblical bullshit. We got into an argument about that. I mentioned the whole though shalt not judge stuff. She got pissed, cussed me out, and walk away whilst flipping me off. I now have no feelings for her. Now, I have only one friend of whom I see only twice a day as I previously said becaue she's in 11th grade while I'm in 8th. Fuckin' hell. Sorry about that rant. I just needed to vent.
This is my first review of any game. So it may not be of any quality. So please, bear with me. Anyways, this is my review of the original Mega Man on the timeless NES. Now, the game wasn't a runaway success like its two sequels, Mega Man 2 & 3, however, it was fairly successful, just barely enough to warrant a sequel. It was originally released in 1987 in the U.S. Anyways, enough about the history of this magnificent game. On to the review. Well, what can I say? It's a great game but not the best in the series. While there are great aspects about it, there are also flaws. There were multiple aspects of the game that either made it or didn't make it into the sequels. A few aspects that were only in the original game that didn't make into the sequels are a scare system (That does nothing), items re spawn when you leave the screen and you can pause the game by hitting select. Some of the aspects that weren't in this game made it into Mega Man 2 and onwards. Such elements are Energy Tanks , Passwords, and 8 robot masters as this game has 6. That means you have to beat the game in one go. This may not be hard for Mega Man pros such as myself, however, this game is amongst the most difficult of the series. Up there with Mega Man 9, Mega Man X6 and Mega Man and Bass. That doesn't mean it's unbeatable though. It simply means Mega Man noobs shouldn't play it. The game has decent controls, now, the series has been renounced for its tight controls. But the first two games controls aren't as good as 3 and onward. Mega Man does slide quite a bit when you stop pressing the left or right D-Pad. Nothing too bad, but enough to throw off noobs. But, it shines through most NES games at the time.
Control:3/5
I know graphics doesn't make a game any better or worse. However, looking at them now, they don't look too spectacular, however, at the time, they were pretty decent, not the best looking game, but far from the worst. Most of the backgrounds are simply plain backdrops. Usually a light blue. Mega Man on the other hand, looks amazing for the NES with a whopping 5 different colors. That is a lot for early NES and NES in general. The boss and enemy sprites look pretty good for its time too.
Graphics: 3-3.5/5
The animation for any video game is even less important than its graphics. Mega Man has 3 frames of animation. That takes it above and beyond most games at its time.
Animation: 4.5-5/5
The music in the game, though not as memorable as Mega Man 2 or 3, is still okay. Cut man's theme is probably my favorite.
Music: 3/5
Now, Mega Man isn't known for its plot (Teehee. Plot) Anyways, the plot is not mentioned in the game at all. That doesn't matter as it doesn't effect gameplay. The story is as follows. There are two scientists in this age of robots. Their names are Dr.Light and Dr.Wily. They made 8 robots. Rock, Roll, Bomb man, Cut man, Guts man, Elec man, Fire man and Ice man. Dr.Wily gets mad at his colleague Dr.Light because he gets all the attention while no one acknowledges Dr.Wily. So naturally he gets angry and reprograms the latter 6 robots I mentioned. Then Rock, having a strong sense of justice, volunteers to be turned into a super fighting robot. Then Mega Man was born.
Plot:3.5/5
Over all, a great NES game that everyone should have in their collection. While it's not the best in the series. (In fact, it's my second least favorite. Only above MM4.) But still, it's an excellent game. I highly recommend you get this game.
Well. That's my first ever game review. I hope you enjoyed reading it. Please remember, it's my opinion and you don't have to agree with me. Also, can you guys tell me where I need improvement. I won't take offense. In fact, I encourage you share your criticism with me so I can improve the quality of my reviews. Up next is my review of Mega Man 3, as I don't have Mega Man 2. I know, it's blasphemous but whatever. Until Next time, goodbye.
