So I am a competitive player in Pokemon. Though while my methods are different from Smogon's, they still are capable of working. But with that I was thinking about placing my thoughts somewhere so I'll be posting a few competitive analysis for the Pokemon of G7. Starting with the three Starter Pokemon.

Decidueye. While its got decent bulk minus it's defense, good typing (imo) and a nice moveset it can be quite predictable. The most common set being physical With its usually Spirit Shackle, leaf blade, brave bird/swords dance, and Sucker punch. Although my preferred move set would be Spirit Shackle and Leaf blade for Stab, Swords dance, and Baton pass. It's not too different but baton pass is still a good move to keep momentum with. A bulkier set and one that is rather gimmicky is Feather dance, roost, Leaf blade/Spirit Shackle, and Toxic/ other stab move you didn't pick. I couldn't decide if leaf blade or Spirit shackle would be better since one is ghost but it also has that lock in effed that can help stall out a Pokemon and force it into death if it is a Pokemon Decidueye could handle. The last mention I'll make about the final evolution is its Hidden ability despite it not being out yet.. it's an Ok ability for it to have but it still could have been better. It won't trigger Rocky helmet, static, and other moves but it's not really a bad or good ability it's just decent.

Next up is Incineroar. I was originally hyped for this starter line but the wrestler motif ruined it for me. But for competitive wise it's honestly not as good as one could have hoped. Low speed high attack, and mediocre defenses and suffers from 4 move syndrome. It does get Fake out but that leaves it's two stab options plus one more move you can run either Throat chop, or Darkest Lariat for dark stab and shutting down hyper voice users or Pokemon that buff defenses, flare blitz, Earthquake, cross chop, leech life, uturn, or acrobatics. Whenever it's Hidden ability comes out which is Intimidate which of course lowered the opponent's attack stat by one Bulk up can be a useable strategy with Leech life and two other moves that would probably be its stab moves it could get some better usage in because of that low speed unless you use a jolly Scarf set with one of its many coverage moves + 2 stab that has at least neutral coverage on most types minus water/fairy and Rock/fairy.

And lastly is Primarina the Pokemon I ended up choosing in my moon playthrough. Primarina has an amazing Sp attack, nice Sp bulk but not good attack, defense, or speed. Despite this I honestly feel Primarina has the best viability out of the three starters. It can run Assault Vest sets, Specs, or leftovers very well and determining which set it has is more difficult. For Assault vest, it needs both of its stabs scald preferably since you're not running its z crystal, Energy ball, and either Psychic, Shadow ball, or Aqua jet (priority has important use despite Low Attack stats). Same set can apply to specs, for leftovers it can get hold of Amnesia (which is underrated imo), and charm to let it survive a while. Though it didn't get good accessibility to a recovery move outside of Aqua ring, and rest. Its HA is probably the better of the Three. It's essentially the glaciate but with sound moves lol. It'll give Scald (or should) a run for its money if it boosts hyper voice base power.

And that's all three starters. Don't know when I'll do more but if there are Pokemon I want to do that aren't new then I'll be doing them as well. But only if they have something new to give. I'm also going to be skipping around because the next few aren't as good..

As you all know Pokemon is a game that has a competitive scene like mostly every other game around.. the problem is that it's a game that revolves too heavily on luck. Granted luck is a factor in every game but that doesn't matter as much as skill can easily overcome luck. In Pokemon you may come out with a win this way but give it time and luck will overcome skill.. therefore Luck needs to be nerfed in this game and some strategies need to be fixed. These are my opinions on what is wrong with Pokemon so you may or may not agree with these things but please note I've been in the competitive scene for a little while (since the end of G5).. I'm also a defensive player and have lost matches because of luck intervening to heavily in matches

The first thing is the neutral rate of Critical hits.. this is only a problem with no direct influence from an ability, move, or item.. I'm fine with how they work as they go through defense increases and provide a reliable way of taking them out.. however because of their they can't properly be prepared to counter as that extra damage can go through buffs and dual screens. It may not seem like they should be a problem with how low the chance is but they have happened nearly every situation where they are needed to give the opposing player the win.. because of that "small" chance of a crit happening. It should be like the flinch, and other status effects, only when there's a reason for it to be a crit.. I know there's Lucky chant and battle/shell armor but unless they make Lucky chant last until the end of the battle, or more widespread diversity of these two Abilities then they aren't a viable means of stopping the crit from ruling the meta.. either way they fix the crit is fine with me.. I just want to win the battles I probably [italic]Should[/italic] have won.. it's better to have lost because you were out played then to have lost because of the opposing player got a 1/16 lucky hit that decided the match..

Another thing is probably the most used move on smeargle in doubles.. I'm taking about Darkrai's signature move Dark Void. This move puts all the opposing Pokemon to sleep with 85% accuracy.. The problem is the sleep status itself and the fact that it puts both of your Pokemon to sleep. Spore, sleep powder, and the other sleep moves only puts one Pokemon to sleep per one move. The accuracy of Dark Void doesn't even matter.. I mean ever since finding my AS again a while back I've seen Hypnosis (that has either 55 or 60 accuracy) probably over 15+ times.. and it hasn't missed one of those many times it's been used on my Pokemon.. I feel like this move needs to have the Surf treatment in order for it to be fixed.. (aka make it hit the allied Pokemon as well as foes..) this should make Dark void's usage go down..

There shall be more to come but these two things were two I can thing of right now..

But before I stop for now I just wanted to say that this VGC format makes little sense to me.. they allow Mega Rayquaza and the two primals to be used but Mythical Pokemon are a big NO?

I messed this up by accidently refreshing and went back thinking I could get the text back but failed before this uploaded so I'm going to make it not as long..

I'm Arrow of Light (AoL for short) I'm a History major in MD and decided to finally make a few blogs as this is my first one on any site..

I've thought about writing a bit of fanfics for Mlp but due to college and laziness of finding the time to type them and haven't had the time.. my current idea involves a partnership between two of the villains we've seen so far. The two being the entity that turned Princess Luna into Nightmare Moon, and Queen Chrysalis. But I don't know when/if I will start it up..
