  1. Back in "ye olden days" games could only be a couple of kilobytes big, but people wouldn't want to buy something that only lasted a few hours,

What about The Adventure of Link. I've never made it too far in that one, but I've read in certain places that Hyrule was enormous in that game, considering the number of towns and different environments. Again, this is only what I've heard from friends who have played it and read in various places--not that I've actually gone too in-depth with it.

  2. As long as the game-play feels good then I can just ramp up the difficultly if I feel I need a challenge.

Much agreed with that point. I've played Skyrim on Master. I started on Apprentice but as I learned how to play with a keyboard and mouse (it was the first time I tried PC gaming), I turned the difficulty up and I have to agree it get brutal sometimes. Really, I think all games should give you the option of how hard you want the game to be before you even get started. Whether or not you can change it in-game is up to the devs.

  3.  It's simple enough, make a new game, tweak it a bit, boom! Automatic profit for Activision or Treyarch / Infinity Ward.

Couldn't agree more. I don't know why my brother spends $60 for a new Call of Duty when they didn't change it much. It's essentially the same game! Does anybody even play the campaign anymore? I've heard that the one for MW3 was actually pretty good.

At least there were zombies in the new Black Ops. Either way, I don't buy those. I leave it up to my brother to waste his money on those games lol I stuck with a Wii and I'll be in my living room swinging my Wiimote around with Skyward Sword :D

  4. Well, this is what I mean, I play Wii games, and they're not too difficult to get past on the regular difficulty. The same goes for games on the PS2 and 3 and the GameCube. Now I had went into nostalgia mode and decided to dig out my old Sega Genesis from a box deep in the bowels of my closet to find it all in working order! In a moment of nostalgic ecstasy, I hooked my old Genesis up to my TV, stuck Sonic the Hedgehog 2 in the system, and, after cleaning the contact pins, the game booted up.

Now I got past the Emerald Forest Zone just fine. I got to Chemical Plant Zone and the first act was a little tough but I made it through without losing any lives...Everything changed when the Fire Nation--I mean when I got to act 2.

That level is the bane of my existence.

After my seventh game over, now out of my nostalgic ecstasy and more in a fit of bitter rage, I turned off my Genesis, yelled, (CUSS) THIS GAME!!!!" and I haven't even looked at it since. I don't even want to touch it. That game is possessed. But I still wanted that sense of nostalgia so I found another system of mine: my Super Nintendo. God, I loved that thing when I was a kid!

Mortal Kombat II. Those were some classic times. I remember that game taught me how to swear at my father who spammed Rayden's dive attack. When I was, like, 6, I finally beat him for the first time ever and I looked up at him and said, "I kicked your ass!" My mom wasn't all that happy with it but she let it slide. After all, achievement unlocked: kick Dad's ass at Mortal Kombat. So I thought to myself that it'd bring back some memories. I remember playing that game and beating Shao Khan all the time. It became a sort of tradition for me.

Now I play it and it drove me to the point of insanity! I feel like I should make a Rage Quit series (but I don't think roosterteeth would like that very much) because this game is so freaking hard! I even turned the difficulty to "very easy." You know, the one that's only slightly harder than the enemy not moving at all...Still could NOT get past the first level. At that point, after raging and talking to myself (lots of F-bombs were dropped...I told you the game drove me to the point of insanity!) for about 2 or 3 hours about how much I hate these games...I began to think...did video games get EASY?!

I think yes. I think in game tutorials and the developers pretty much holding our hands have really lowered the standard as to what a challenging video game is. I think that a hard game today would have qualified as something in the sort of easy end back then. I mean, when I was 7, I could beat Sonic 2 and Mortal Kombat with my eyes closed. I loved playing the Donkey Kong Country games on my SNES! Now, at 20, after not playing them in nearly a decade, I couldn't beat them with cheats. I probably couldn't get to the third stage in Sonic!

So what do you guys think? Have video games just become easier with time?

  5. My brother was interested in the show after I told him about it at one point so I sat him down and we watched a few episodes. After that he got up and essentially told me it's not his cup of tea and he wouldn't hold it against me or anything. And I told him, "The seeds have been sowed..." haha But if that's what you mean, then yeah, I've come across what you call "Good haters." But those people aren't even haters. Not being a supporter doesn't make you a hater lol

  6. Well I thought Hasbro was pretty cool at first. As an accounting major, I understand that it's the goal of a corporation to maximize the wealth of its shareholders but I thought Hasbro was alright since they weren't being super uptight with some of their stuff. But now with the whole Mane6 thing, I feel like they sorta launched a direct attack on their own fan base. Now sure, I understand that we're fans of MLP (and maybe a couple other shows) but Hasbro owns MLP and as such, that's where the buck stops. Anyway, after that, I don't really trust Hasbro at all (not that I really did to begin with). But the writers? I feel like we can trust those guys. I mean, when the Mane6 team got their C&D letter, Lauren Faust herself offered to make some original characters for the game (https://twitter.com/Fyre_flye/status/300098640150687744). She even offered her sympathies to the team and such. I think the writers and creators of the show are to be trusted. I'm talking about Faust, Larson, Thiessan, Wootton, and so forth. But Hasbro? No. Never trust a corporation. In business school, they beat it into your mind: the ultimate goal of the corporation is to maximize stock price through the maximization of shareholder wealth. They'll probably lose a few fans over this, but they likely won't be losing any sleep over it.

  7. MLP being uber mainstream? No. I mean, I think when everyone likes the same thing, it just gets overdone. I can't listen to the radio anymore because they just overplay the same thing with the same message. If MLP ended up EVERYWHERE, I don't think I'd want to be involved anymore. Maybe that's me being a hipster, but I can't stand something that's super common lol

  8. I'm in even more conservative Alabama

Oh wow! Yeah, I know they're pretty bad down there! Do you watch Top Gear on BBC? Basically they went through a gas station with things like "Country & Western is rubbish" "NASCAR sucks" and "Man love is okay" painted on the side of their cars. The episode goes on to show how they were all attacked and pelted with rocks as a result. While there are people who say it was all good film editing, I tend to believe it was legit. Not that all folks in Alabama are that way.

This is what I find pretty sad about society. I know gender roles are well-established, unfortunately, but it's harmless.

Well I wouldn't say it's gender roles. More or less, when people think My Little Pony, they tend to think it's the stuff that was around before Gen 4. Even I thought that when I was thinking about watching an episode. Really, I only did it to see what all the hubbub was about! But I do agree that the gender role thing is unfortunate. Like men can't clean and women can't fix a car. That's the biggest load of bull I've ever heard lol but I'm sure that as time goes on, people will change. Hopefully for the better :) I hope that one day, none of us will have to fear being bronies for the sake of acceptance by our non-brony friends :)

  9. I'm not going to say this was the best but that it is my favorite: Wind Waker.

    What I liked:

Artistic graphics, despite how there are other fans who hated it.

Great music that is just incredible on a home theater system

The same amazing control that came from Ocarina, only the camera was user controllable.

The first Zelda title to use progressive scan. As far as graphical performance goes, its shortcoming was the lack of widescreen support.

The genius in the idea of using the time traveling between islands as time to load the islands in the area to make you think it was actually loading. Personally, I hate loading screens but I'm just impatient.

    What I didn't like:

The overworld feels kind of lazy

Parts of the quest were unadventurous.

    Summary:

I love this game. I had it when I was 12 but my family was going through some hard times and we sold our GameCube. I've played through it four times since I got it myself and I'm working on a fifth time because I just love this game so much. Many people gripe about the graphics but I feel that they were beautifully done. It's a step away from the more realistic style used in previous games and into the more imaginative, artistic style. Also, Link's face was much more emotive than it has ever been. That serious look on his face when you sidle against a wall is priceless!

Sailing, I admit, was tedious. The overworld lacked many features that were present in Ocarina but they really made up for it by using the time spent sailing to load the other islands. Then there was the music. The theme song is amazing and even more so on a more high powered sound system that will really get the bass going. It's an epic feeling.

The game used the same control layout that they used in Ocarina, only it took advantage of a second analog stick and. They essentially took something that was pretty amazing to start with and made it better. Kudos.

Really, my biggest qualm with this game was that the quest felt like it lacked the element of adventure sometimes. Most notably, gathering the shards. But that isn't even the worst. Tingle is a pretty greedy idividual. By charging you 398 rupees to discover where a shard is, he ends up making 3,184 rupees off of you. Has he never heard of a child discount? While you gather the charts, it does foreshadow that you're going to need a lot of money to continue the quest as there are jars loaded with red and purple rupees, but if you don't catch it and save your money, you end up spending a lot of time mowing a lot of lawns. There is no adventure in that!

Anyway, there is my thought on my favorite Zelda title. :)

  10. LSD;GOERIHGFOERINVWOEURVPIWEURORU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111 *drooling*

It's such a shame I live where I do! I have a couple of MLP shirts myself but I don't really wear them outside of my apartment. Only about 5 of my very closest friends ever know about me being a brony. My best (and meanest) friend started laughing at me. Then she told me she doesn't love me any less (which also makes her the nicest friend I have lol) for MLP. Another friends was shocked and she basically just said, "YOU LIKE MY LITTLE PONY?? Never saw that coming!" but like my other friend, she was fine with it also. Two other friends told me he and a few of his buddies did try the show and they legitimately liked it but they didn't stick with it because they were kind of scared off by the cloppers how some of the other bronies they've met act. I'm really the most contained brony they've ever known. When my best friend (the first one I mentioned) saw me in one of my MLP shirts, she just laughed so hard she nearly fell off her chair and cried over Skype (I live in Oklahoma; she lives in Germany), asking me if I was seriously wearing that, to which I told her she isn't making this any easier for me lol In any case, I don't know any bronies in real life. It'd be really cool if I got to meet one but it's not widely accepted where I live so I'm a little afraid of wearing one. Oh well...

  11. I know when I was in high school, I hated homework. Of course, my school (pre-k through 12th) was composed, in its entirety, of 200 kids. I graduated with 15 in my class. There were 8 in the class before us and 13 in the class after us. 20 was considered large and anything greater than that just didn't happen unless you were in band, which was all the students from 9th-12th grades. Being so small, our teachers rarely stayed long. Most of them didn't really care to teach the class. I kid you not, in my typing class, we spent about 20 minutes doing actual work on the computer. Our teacher didn't really teach. When we were finished, we'd just go to Addicting Games and spent the other 40 minutes on that. For some reason, my class was pretty gifted for the most part. Three of my classmates scored at least a 32 on the ACT. One of my best friends scored a 34 and got a full 4 year scholarship to Oklahoma State and another friend of mine scored  a perfect 36 on the reading portion of the test with a 33 overall. Those guys studied a lot for their tests. Me? I didn't study at all and I scored a 24 on the test. Had I studied and been ready, I'm sure I could have been one of those who got a 32+.

But I hated homework in high school. Actually, my whole class did, including those guys who scored 32+ on their ACT's. Most of us slept in class anyway. There wasn't much for us to learn there anyway. Not all of us were so well to do. One of my classmates is constantly in between boyfriends. 2 others got pregnant before 20. Another got pregnant and married before she was 19. Another one had already been married, divorced, and was engaged again before we even graduated! haha!

Anyway, I'm rambling at this point, so to continue, about 5 or 6 of us went to college, myself included. When I got to college, no thanks to my lackluster teachers, I was kind of screwed. We were given homework all the time. Hard homework. Stuff I had never seen before but my college professors were teaching it like we all should have known the material already. Unfortunately, I didn't. But I actually liked that. It was scary. I'm now paying to go to school and I can't do the work. If I flunk out, I lose all the money I've invested in it. But I got the hang of it. Eventually, I started to like homework.

When I took my first accounting class, I hated it. I couldn't understand anything and I thought about dropping the class for the first few weeks I was there. With the encouragement from my mom, however, I stayed in the class. Finally, the light bulb up there came on and I was instantly good at accounting. We'd get homework and I'd have it done the second I got home. I love accounting!

So for me, homework isn't pointless. Some of the best college professors I've had will get your hands dirty in class and send you home to get some practice on your own. When you're doing something because you have to, I agree: it sucks. When you're doing it for something you love, everything changes. All of a sudden, the homework for that class is the only thing you ever want to do. You find a little bit of a Twilight Sparkle in you and you do your homework...and some extra. You pour your heart and soul into your homework because you want to do well at something you're passionate about.

So what's my view on homework? Homework is good, whether you love it or hate it. To know how to do something you need to know outside of class is pretty useful. I agree that there are classes I take that I wonder what I'm ever going to need to know some of the stuff in real life for  but when you get to your junior year in college and you have all your required classes (Biology, Chem, English Comp I & II, etc) out of the way, it starts getting fun. All you have to take  are classes relevant to your major and some electives. This semester, I'm taking five classes that are all business classes and there are four of them that I just can't get enough of.

My advice to you is to stay in school. I know, it's a drag. There are many aspects of it that aren't really fun. Like buying books, tuition fees, rent, and so forth. Then you just go to a class and get lectured for an hour. And you wonder why you're just shelling out $4,500 a semester for it when there are plenty of more fun things to do. Trust me, stay with it long enough and it can get pretty interesting--especially when you find that special talent of yours. :)

  12. Well then....You know, I consider myself to be a conservative Christian. I could take that as an insult but I'll be mature about it.

Yes, a lot of conservatives are the enemies of the bronies and especially conservative Christians are afraid of the movement. When my parents learned (because I would dare not tell them) that I was a brony they basically said it was childish of me. So is keeping my Disney VHS collection. But that's what it is to them. Then I got a good talking to. I was pretty embarrassed because I knew they wouldn't approve of me being a brony but they love me the same regardless. And yes, my parents watch Fox News.

Of course, I was raised in a small farm town in the middle of nowhere in Oklahoma. If it doesn't get much more conservative Christian than that, I'm not really sure what does. They aren't hateful toward bronies. My parents don't really like it that I'm a brony but don't reject me for it.

I would have to agree that the conservative Christians are probably the strongest opposition to the brony movement. Really what they fear is change. I can't blame them for it since it's all they've known. When my parents think My Little Pony, they think of the stuff they were exposed to in the 1980s and they just think that it's still the same thing.

Now to answer the question regarding if conservative Christians can be bronies. Well, you're reading a post written by a conservative Christian brony. I know it sounds like an oxymoron (and it probably is), but it's possible. I mean, there's nothing wrong with the messages taught by the show. If nothing else, I think many Christians should actually embrace these lessons.

Conservatives have a history of being closed minded, and I'm saying that as a conservative myself. But I guess I'm one of those who aren't afraid to approach something like this with an open mind.

  13. Well this could go two ways. I freaking love Luna!! And being in charge of bringing the moon out at night sounds pretty amazing! Plus Luna has the best mane ever so I would have the best mane ever!! My only qualm if I woke up as Luna would be that my sister would be Trollestia lol But I think I'd learn to live with her :D

  14. Personally, I'm PC all the way. There are a few reasons why

    1. I've tried using a Mac computer and I just don't like the feel of it. Sure, it's very smooth, but I can't get used to how it works.

    2. Although the hardware for Mac is good, there are quite a few games out there that are only Windows compatible. One example is Skyrim.

    3. Mac isn't good for business majors. Especially when probably 97% of businesses are using Windows based machines.

    4. Why would I spend $3,000 on a computer that isn't very well known for having user replaceable parts? I'd rather invest $1,500 in the parts I need and build it myself. That way if there's a problem, I can order the new part and have my PC fixed in a couple of days rather than having to send it in for service.

  15. @,

I would like to go digital, but I don't really have the money to afford the stuff with which to do it. I've always wondered what it's like to draw on a tablet, though...

    @,

Isn't that the core of art? :) I love to draw although I'm not really all that good with it. Most of the better people I know could do something like this in 20 minutes. This took me 4 hours!  :P  I do a pretty good job of abusing abusing my erasers when I do something like this! And I actually started out going for accuracy but after a while I said screw it and that's when I started working on her eyes. I thought I should do anime eyes since anime girls usually have the most adorable eyes! I kinda grew up on anime. Pokemon, Dragonball Z, Naruto, InuYasha, Fullmetal, Code Geass, Bleach, etc  :D  so anime eyes are just easiest for me to do!

Anyway, you guys are the best! Thanks for the encouragement! :)

  16. So...I've decided that my favorite pony is Luna! Yes, I love Fluttershy, but she's officially been moved to #2 on my list to make room for Luna!

There are a few reasons why I've really come to like Luna. Primarily because I feel that I could best be emotionally vulnerable with Luna. And I also have a tendency to talk a little too loud. I have a habit of using my football stadium voice in a room no bigger than 8 by 10 feet.

But I don't know what really changed my mind. All I know now is that I freaking LOVE Luna! And I know I can really relate to Luna in many ways. And then there are also those times where I just want to give Luna a hug!

I could go on all day about why I like Luna. But it's late now. So here's my fan art :)

I just used a pencil to freehand the original lines, solidified them with a Sharpie, and then I just colored it in with colored pencils. It's nothing special. I'm no professional. This is really just a hobby I do when inspiration hits me. And that happens only every once in a blue moon. I've never taken any lessons. I know there are problems with it. The eyes aren't the same size, my lines a little heavier in areas, and so forth. I don't mind constructive criticism, but until I get to the point where I want to take some lessons in freehanding, this is real probably as good as it gets for me. But I love it! And it's going to bring me smiles!

Because when Luna smiles, I smile! :) I hope everypony likes it!

  17. First, I wouldn't mind owning a 1962 Pontiac Grand Prix. It's big. It's old school American muscle. And it looks really good. This is one car I would go on a road trip in.

    http://www.curbsideclassic.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Pontiac-Grand_Prix-1962.jpg

Then there's the 1979 Honda Prelude. That's mostly because I own a 2000 model myself and I just want the first model they made just for the heck of it. I mean, who said that owning old school muscle cars was the only cool thing? I would actually like to take an old economy car and restore it and see if I can squeeze 40+ mpg out of one!

    http://static.cargurus.com/images/site/2008/04/05/14/03/1979_honda_prelude-pic-7517.jpeg

Finally, I want the Honda S500. It's tiny. It only goes 90 mph. It only has 56 HP. At 60 miles an hour, the motor would be running over 5,000 RPM, but that's okay since it didn't run out of room til about 10,000 anyway. It's a deathtrap. But it's uncommon and it looks fun to drive :) Not exactly a chick magnet though. That's what I have the old Pontiac for haha

  18. I love Bohemian Rhapsody, but this guy singing it, yes, makes me cringe. And laugh...it's a strange sensation to be laughing and cringing at the same time lol

Then there's Justin Bieber's "Baby" and Rebecca Black's "Friday." I won't even take the time to embed those...

And anything by Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Nikki Manaj, and just about anything pop and mainstream. I don't mean to sound like a hipster here, but mainstream stuff just gets overplayed and the radio station ends up being like that guy that tells a joke 400 times but you don't think it's funny. At that point, I'm just ready to punch any radio station in the face...

And country makes me cringe but that's probably because I live in Oklahoma. I grew up on rock. Where I come from, there was 1 rock station, 1 classical station, 2 pop stations, 2 Christian stations, and about 10 country stations on FM and any AM station was playing country too. When a country station bought out our only rock station, I was furious. I haven't listened to the radio since that happened. I even went as far as to buy a new car stereo and install it because my iPod didn't connect to the 13 year old CD player in there and I got tired of driving without music. Anyway, I'm getting off topic here.

So to recap, I don't like pop and country. I love old school rock and classical music. As a matter of fact, Fantasia happens to be one of my favorite movies, like, ever.

In closing, a little Bob Seger for the win :)

  19. Pros :

    1. You would be able to live among your favorite candy colored ponies!

    2. The odds of you being able to do nothing cool like, oh I dunno, fly or use magic, are only 33%

    3. That means there's a 33% chance that I could be a Pegasus! :D (This one and #2 only apply if i were a pony too)

    4. It seems like all of the things wrong with the world don't really exist in Equestria.

    5. The existence of certain mythological creatures! Let's just hope Gilda was the only bad Griffon.

    Cons:

1.I saw Rarity making Sweetie Belle pull that heavy cart in the latest episode...does this mean the Celestia hasn't passed any filly labor laws?

    2. There is a 33% chance that you won't end up being able to have any special talents like magic or flight. Not saying that being an earth pony would be so bad. It just seems like it'd be no better than being a human.

    3. Finally, the existence of certain mythological creatures...We have already seen a Hydra, a Manticore, a Minotaur, a Cockatrice, and some other mythological creatures that, in fantasy, are awesome, but in real life, wouldn't be very nice to deal with...And Gilda...let's hope she doesn't come back. And if she does let's hope Rainbow Dash kicks her [bUY SOME APPLES!]!

  20. I look at this page, and all I see is epicness. Epicness everywhere.

I mean, what is there to say about these? Each picture has its own personality, and I can't put into words what I think of these! Awesome stuff. Please do more! :D

    • Brohoof 1
  21. Luna gets a cameo! And a few lines! And as if the episode couldn't be anymore awesome, Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash being sisters is finally CANON?? omigod omigod omigod! I'm not even a huge Scootaloo fan (I like her; she's just not my favorite) and this episode almost brought me to tears! I'm happy for Scootaloo :)

    • Brohoof 2
  22. Some of my favorites...

    1. Guns n Roses--November Rain

    2. Modern English--I Melt With You

    3. Scatman John--Scatman

    4. Smashing Pumpkins--1979

    5. KISS--I Was Made For Lovin' You

But there are tons of others that I consider to be some of the best songs I've ever heard, but since you only asked for a top 5, that's the top 5 off the top of my head :)

I've also noticed that bronies have an awesome taste in music! :D

  23. The media already defames bronies. Most people assume we're all cloppers when really the cloppers are the ones who are the most outspoken about being "bronies." Clop if you want, I'm not going to hate on you. But you won't see me hanging out with you...

In any case, if the show ended, I wouldn't care too much as long as it didn't mess with the kind of creativity in the fanbase. I'm talking (clean) deviantart, music, etc. Oh...how I love the stuff that artists like Acoustic Brony, Mando Pony, and Sim Gretina have out there!

I agree... the whole clopping assumption needs to stop, come on the community is based on an innocent TV show... as if we would ever aim to destroy that image, we just love the show because of what it is!!

It seems like you're new to this (forgive/correct me if I'm wrong). Actually, there are quite a few bronies who clop. But yes, the bulk of us don't. As far as "...as if we would ever aim to destroy that image..." goes, you'd be amazed at some of the crap you can find on the internet.

The sad truth is that R34 has no exceptions. I agree that it's just awful that people do indeed clop, but there are tons of perverted people on the internet waiting to take something innocent and turn it into the total antithesis of what it is...even ponies T-T

  24. So I recently moved to a new town in a new apartment and I have my first roommate. Now she has a cat, and that's funny because I love, love, love, love cats!

    Why I love cats:

    1. They love you back when you love them

    2. They don't need tons of attention

    3. They basically take care of themselves

    4. They aren't really hyper all the time

    5. I haven't met many cats that are just over-the-top vocal (though some are)

    6. They're pretty easy to live with since they're so lazy anyway.

    7. I love the sound of purring and meowing

    8. They kill and eat mice

Things I don't like about cats

    1. Compared to dogs, which can be trained to go to the door, cats use a litterbox. Those are never fun to clean

(You might be able to teach your cat to go to the door. I've had one who does that but that's it.)

    2. Claws...teeth...sharp...ow...and I've heard getting them de-clawed can make them aggressive, or even more so if you have an aggressive cat.

    3. They like to scratch things...my roommate's cat has taken a liking to my new furniture, which wasn't cheap. We're working on that, though.

    4. Unless it's a short-haired cat, you're gonna be dealing with shed-zilla.

Now, just because I'm a cat person doesn't mean I don't like dogs. I love dogs! Unlike cats, dogs are just all about you. They can love you so much. But some breeds that need to get out and exercise can be hard to deal with when you're having a slow day and others can't be kept in an apartment because they need to get out. But I just love me some puppies! Okay, I just have a soft spot for anything that's cute. Doubt me? Ponies. Nuff said.

So yeah, I guess my intent in posting this thread is to ask what your favorite pet is and why it's your favorite pet! There's mine! And....go :)

  25. Oh the people on YouTube are probably the best! I mean, if you scroll down and read the comments section, half of the videos will contain a religion argument. Now I associate myself with the baptist church myself, but I'm not about to go shoving my beliefs down your throat. Anyway, that's off subject.

Basically, going on YT and looking at the comments section is the best. People say the funniest things on YT and YouTube drama is sooooo much better than Facebook drama! The best part is that it's already happened so you don't have to go get your popcorn! Just go on marvelous adventures! :D
