  1. I've been away a long time, mostly because the past few times I tried to come back I didn't realise my display name was different from my username and just didn't know what to do. I've a lot of catching up to do.

Life has been hard since the Summer, after what seemed a new start and a beautiful reunion. Maybe it can be rescued, maybe it can't

I just need something to help keep me alive right now, and to help my old dad not have to deal with my ending

  2. I got this message that said I could not reply to it

"Your group promotion given during your last donation has expired. You have now be demoted to a different user group. Thank you for supporting this forum."

    What does it mean?

Also, I am seeing adverts of the top of the screen and a message telling me to register to not see them, and of course I am registered. I use wifi in pubs and cafes and adverts screw with the bandwidth so I chose not to let them display, but they are displaying

    Confused

  3. LOL, I have no idea! In fact I doubt they are aware it exists as a TV show (after all, I wasn't before). They are probably vaguely of the actual pony toys, but probably forgotten the exact name. They have seen my desktop but probably didn't think about where it came from, or what those 'ponies' were (not necessarily easy to know its a pony if you don't watch the show).

  4. Are older bronies more inclined to like Applejack? She was my favourite pony, and though I see great moments with all the others, she remains the one I enjoy watching the most. I love purple so Seafoam, or whatever her name, captured my beauty-roaming eye, hence my little pic. But in this thread so far I count 3 Applejack fans, something that seems statistically unusual from all those "AJ never gets the love" posts.

  5. lol, when I read you were looking for older bronies I thought like me (over 40). To me, you're still a younger brony, just not a young brony. I was vaguely aware of the show for a year without even considering that it was something I might want to watch (I hardly ever watch cartoons and Avatar The Last Airbender had been the last one I'd bothered with). It was only when I saw John de Lancie tweeting about the show that I thought "Huh, that's Q, he's fantastic" and downloaded from Youtube the first couple of episodes. I was amazed at the quality, the quirkiness, the characterisation and just the fun feelgood factor, and was hooked. It was also a very bad time mentally, and it probably saved my life.

  6. Applejack, she's pretty, lively, clever, hard working and fun.

How about Moondancer? What do we reallly know about her? A party girl pony? Or a pony having a party? She's got a nice name and IN to Canterlot society without being too freakily powerful

  7. I'd really like to see the CMC grow up - they start as adolescents and unless MLP is going to change into The SImpsons they can't stay that way forever. It would be cool to see Scootaloo, SB and Applebloom move on, but nurture a new generation of CMCs as mentors.

In this, I really liked the episodes that focused on Applebloom and Scootaloo and would like to see them grow and develop

I'd like to see a PROPER return for Braeburn where he gets dialogue and a plot involvement

And I can't help but think Luna has it in for Twilight which would be a nice way to address jealousy issues, if done well

    Oh, and MOONDANCER!

  8. The episode whizzed by making me wonder if I was a bit drunk, then ended with a completely unexpected and as far as I could see unnecessary transformation of my dear Twilight into...wtf?

I watched it again to see if it made more sense, and it didn't, and I really didn't like the whole 'musical' feel to it, and still don't like either the episode, or the transformation.

Its depressed me severely (since MLP as a show is supposed to lift me out of my usual depression) but I have accepted that maybe the writers of season 4 might be able to rescue things...maybe

  9. OK, lol I am in my 40s, my parents are in the 70s and its not really their business if I like one TV show or another. Specifically speaking, I've not even tried to have an MLP conversation because its so far out of their experience they could probably only compare it to Scooby Doo or something as to what a cartoon is. I don't hide the MLP aspect of my life, though, with a pony desktop everyone sees, they just mostly don't know what all these pretty ponies ARE!

  10. They are excellent and the Derpy one is flaming gorgeous!

Do you only draw MLP stuff? I'm looking for an artist for a future book cover, not MLP related. I posted earlier in a thread about one I'm doing at the moment, but got an artist through another board, but the next one is still very much open

    Best Regards

  11. Well, just plopped down $900 on a junker my little sister's boyfriend was selling. It's only a junker in the sense that the doors are creaky, there's no dome light (or upholstery on the ceiling for that matter), some cracks in the dashboard, the electric side-view mirror adjustor doesn't work, the A/C needs to be recharged, and the paint job is totally chipped off. But functionally, the motor's fine, has been regularly serviced and the mileage is pretty low for a '95, so I'm not worried it'll break down. And if it does, then hey - better I'd be out $900 on a car sold to me by a family-friend than be out $2,000 or more on a car from some shifty-eyed craigslist douche, right?

Damn, problem with being a historian I read this as pronounced 'yunker' as in the Prussian aristocracy and for ages couldn't work out what on Earth it was you'd bought (an old man?)

  12. The last thing I bought was 2 HDMI leads for my DVD player and Raspberry Pi (Mini computer) on amazon for about £7.50, I also bought a hmdi switch for my TV smile.png

Cool, is the Raspberry Pi worth all the hype? What can you actually do with it? Or is it just a gimmick for fun?

Was it a whim or do you intend to do something serious with it?

  13. I'm not intolerant of people who think that an alicorn Twilight is a good idea. I'm intolerant of people who are intolerant of the idea that I DON'T think it is a good idea. I could be proven wrong if the Season 4 writers really get their act together. But as things stand in the inter-series vacuum it left me seriously depressed and I don't like people saying that somehow this is due to my narrow mindedness.
