private Halo ODST Role-Play
FractalMoon replied to Your Nightly Spectre's topic in Everfree Roleplays
Patch looks around the frigate when suddenly his comlink beeps, "Wait... Emergency re-tasking? To a group that's dropping now?! Son of a..." He grabs his helmet and a battle rifle, as well as a spare magazine for his magnum, and sprints toward the drop pods. He arrives and places his helmet on his head, trying to key in his new squad's frequency as he gets settled in his drop pod. He finally finds the right frequency and tries to introduce himself, "Private First Class Jacobson reporting for duty sir! Sorry for my lateness, I wasn't aware I was even on this op until about 20 minutes ago." -

Anyone mind if I join? Or is it too late? -
End Game follows after the ground, checking to make sure his rifle is in good shape before he takes up a position waiting for the APC to open. A quick survey of his pack reveals the fact that the first firefight was a bit more hard in resources than he first believed, and he probably depleted a full quarter of his ammo while fighting the Whisperer. He shouts into the APC, "On a scale of one to ten, how big was the thing we brought down on the food chain of this place?"
-
End Game looks around, "Now I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we still have a job to do. Drop off the scout in the APC and let's get a move on unless someone thinks we can salvage anything from the ponies who died here. They won't be the last in all likelihood, we'll just have to accept that and save who we can." he looks toward the corpses, "It's better that they're dead now... The state they were in was far worse than death."
-
@@Demirari, End Game smiles and walks toward Gentle Secret, "Don't sell yourself short, if you hadn't helped me out I'd be crazy reanimated corpse chow by now. I'm glad that didn't happen by the way, not being dead is my favorite way to be." He slings the rifle on his back and looks over toward Draco. @@SpikusFyre, @@dragon4111, "Proper protection? Really? You saw what that thing did to other soldiers, you saw what it did to the APC, you saw what it did to freaking buildings! There was no proper protection. We survived because we fought like a team, and the most important part of a team is to act when one another does! It was a judgment call, and in the long run the right one."
-
End Game drops to the ground as the Whisperer flails about in its desperation, then comes back up firing again. He aims for the skull of the damned creature over and over, emptying a full magazine in order to finally bring it down. After seeing so many people die in this encounter, he is trying to just see this creature die. The academic part of his mind reminds him to mask up and help exhume the thing once it's dead, but for now he focuses on bringing it death.
-
End Game looks up at the Whisperer as it says its peace, then decides to reply in both words and gunfire, "Oh, we'll all die one day, but not today and not. To. You." he punctuates every pause with a snap of his rifle firing, each round spiralling through the air on a flat trajectory toward the target. He hopes beyond hope at least one strikes true into the strange creature's skull, because that would mean it was mortal.
-
End Game takes the distraction offered by the APC to move to another position, preparing to fire again as his rifle clicks empty. He quickly loads another magazine of armor piercing rounds and returns to pestering the Whisperer, taking careful shots at the perceived weaknesses in the shields in order to keep it off of Hazmat . In case desperate measures are called for he keeps a blackout round at the ready, not sure whether to use or save it right now.
-
End Game ejects the blackout round and slips it into his bag for later, then looks forward to the target rich environment of corpses shambling toward him, "Once we're done with the soldiers keep anything magical you have away from the magical bastard!" he shouts, hoping people can still hear him as he rests the rifle against the chunk of fallen building he's using as cover. For a sharpshooter like End Game, this is his ideal situation. He slowly slips into an almost trance during the carnage, aiming each round toward the head and letting the laws of physics do the rest. Instead of the armor piercing rounds he had used against the Whisperer's shield, he begins to fire hollow points to try and rip apart the skulls of the creatures in front of hin
-
End Game follows after the ponies who flocked to the shooting, not knowing what exactly to make of the situation yet. When he sees the alicorn he winces, "That's... Not possible..." he says to himself, inaudible over the sound of the gunshots before he watches Hazmat fly in on his own. Deciding the only thing that could be done is to try and support his new-found comrade, End Game finds a piece of cover and starts firing at the Alicorn, trying to distract it before he gets to the ace up his sleeve, the single blackout round he had covertly slipped into the middle of his magazine.
-
@@Demirari, End Game suddenly looks around as the APC stops, "Hey, what's going on up there?" He asks toward the front of the cabin, "I know that you guys are probably all opsec and all that, but it wouldn't hurt to tell us what the hell is going on, would it?" He asks, bringing his rifle up to prepare himself for whatever may wind up coming in the next few minutes.
-
Paging , End Game shrugs and looks back to Sapphire, "I don't know what the formation will be, but just based on what everyone is carrying, I'd say Spike or the red pegasus will probably be best suited will take point, but other than that usually you should keep the medic near the middle in order to most effectively heal anyone who may need healing. The best shots of our group should be at the sides since they'll have the widest angles of engagement, and we should have a close range specialist acting as a rear guard. Other than that I don't know, but if you really want to know you should discuss with others."
-
End Game nods and steps into the vehicle, moving off to the side and waiting for the vehicle to move out. He smiles, "Let's head out shall we? I'm sure that there is quite a bit to talk about as we move toward the AO, but all that can be discussed on our way. I'm guessing that we don't get to keep our sweet ride, so we need a plan for once we lose it."
-
Paging , @Demirari End Game chuckles and smiles at the machine gun, "I'm going to name her Micah, and she'll be our protecting archangel." he looks up at the gun, "You hear that Micah? We get to murder those Disharmonic things!" He nods back to the two military ponies, "So is it about time to get rolling? I guess we should get ready to find those chips."
-
Paging @Demirari End Game smiles and gives a low whistle, "I never thought I'd see a Ma Deuce in my day, and now I get to be on the same side as one!" he sounds quite excited, "First dibs on the salvage if it breaks down!" he nods to the two soldiers, "It's a pleasure to meet you both, if you need some help with the gun at any point, feel free to ask."
-
End Game walks in with the rest of the group and smiles in reverence, "Now that is a weapon I wouldn't mind getting a chance to take apart, but since it's going to keep us alive in the incredibly deadly place known as 'outside' I'll keep my hooves to myself for now..." he takes a position next to the vehicle and waits for his orders, idly fiddling with the sights on his rifle.
-
End Game places the datapad on his leg and shrugs the survival pack onto his back, then turns to the stallion who had introduced himself, "Nice to meet you Spikus, my name's End Game, gunsmith and keeper of rounds of all kinds. Basically, if it shoots a projectile of any kind I can make ammunition for it. I'm also a pretty good shot with Valerie here." He pats the rifle affectionately, "As for killing on sight, I've only had a few hints of what's out there from various clients, but from what I've been told anything that moves should be shot repeatedly, and anything that isn't moving should be shot once at least to be sure."
-
End Game shakes his head and walks over to retrieve his equipment. The rifle was his baby, having put up with years of modification and upgrades in order to become its current form, a scoped battle rifle that made up for its lack of fire rate with range and pure hitting power. It gets slung across his back, while his pistol and knife slide into holsters near his face. He puts on a thin ballistic vest and slides in a few trauma plates on his flanks for additional armoring , then looks at his pack to see its innards.
-
End Game nods, "I do have two questions, once we get these items is there any way for us to get back? It would be a shame to lose what we're seeking after we find it. Also, what exactly are we looking for? I don't know about everypony else, but I tend to find it much more simple to find things when I know what to look for. "

He's carrying a few nice toys, but the drawback is it requires him to be somewhere safe whenever he wants to make bullets for his rifle, and the pistol is more prone to fouling than a normal .45 would be. Don't worry, I'll be here, just posting somewhat infrequently as I travel across the great divide that is the United States West and Midwest on my way to college. And yes, I did. -

Since my traveling partner is driving right now I have a bit of time to work, so I decided that I would throw together my character pitch. As a base I'll be using my character End Game, linked here: https://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/end-game-r2631, but with several changes. Personality, appearance, and cutie mark are the same, but his abilities and back story are definitely going to be different. Back story for this RP: End Game had only heard stories of the world before the Disharmony came. The light, the beauty, the progress that had occurred in that time were all just legends to him. However, these stories gave him hope for the future and a reason to keep going even when things seemed darkest. He had been lucky enough that his parents were engineers before things became Disharmonic, and as such he had plenty of material to learn from as he grew up. He discovered he had a talent for gunsmithing, a talent that gave him a place in the darker world that Disharmony had brought. He became an arms dealer who specialized in rare or hard to find ammunition. One such rare type of ammunition was the way he discovered his cutie mark. On one scavenging expedition outside of the underground shelter he called home he found a set of access tunnels that led to a long-abandoned reactor. While the reactor didn't have an active power element, it did have an extensive storage full of depleted uranium, which was inert but incredibly dense. After he recovered the first barrel of this material he started to learn the secrets of working with it, and he wound up crafting a magazine worth of them to be saved for emergencies. Unfortunately, a cave in prevented him from ever retrieving more of the metal, though he always kept an eye out for more, especially if he could find enough to build a full weapon out of it. Gear: 6.5mm Grendel battle rifle, designed for long range accuracy and armor piercing while retaining ergonomics and weapon control. .45 pistol lightened and made low-profile for concealed carry. This semiautomatic sidearm is better suited for single precise shots than many rapid ones, but can be used for either purpose in a pinch. Survival knife for close quarters and any cutting that needs to be done. End Game carries a standard gas mask, a flashlight, his weapon cleaning equipment, and the reloading kit that allows him to alter existing bullets between calibers and types. His final possession is a lead case that carries the ten remaining DU rounds he has, two of each of the following types: Sabot: A 5.56 shell in a 6.5 case with extra gunpowder designed for extreme velocity and raw material penetration Hollow Point: A bullet that squashes against the target to create a larger wound channel and dissipate the force against whatever it hits, in order to stop a target where it stands Incendiary: A bullet coated in a mixture of phosphorous and magnesium that bursts into flames upon contact with open air once it has been fired. Good for anti-personnel fighting, but causing horrific injuries that prevent him from firing them in all but the most extreme of circumstances. Blackout: A pair of rounds equipped with an alloy even rarer than the DU that causes magical mechanisms near it to short out unless they are hardened. End Game prepared these in case he needs to break anything magical, though he doesn't know if he will ever need it. -

I'll definitely avoid going overboard, just keeping things to re-chambering and reloading, not making rounds from scratch for the most part.
