Thunder Road, the PTC (Philadelphia Toboggan Company) was a wooden coaster that stood at Carowinds. It was a racing coaster. Unlike single coasters, racing coasters were made of two tracks that started at the same station. The trains were dispatched together at the same time. Because the layouts were identical, the winner would be determined by the weight of each of the trains (the number of people).
When Thunder Road first opened in 1976, both trains faced forward. However, a year came when the left train was switched to backwards to add on to the thrills. Furthermore, the coaster was built right on the North Carolina/South Carolina border. There's a certain point where one train is in North Carolina and the other train is in South Carolina, and you'd travel between states. This was one of the most unique aspects about Thunder Road and no other coaster in the world has done this. Sadly, for all wooden coasters, as time passes, they get quite rough. Throughout the years, sections of Thunder Road had to be retracked.
In January of 2015, it was rumoured that 2015 would be Thunder Road's last year, and it was true. On July 26, 2015, Thunder Road gave its final ride. People were able to sign their names on the wooden supports and after the ride was demolished, the small pieces of wooden supports were delivered to those who signed their name.
Rest In Peace Thunder Road. Though your rides were rough, you still gave a memorable ride every single time.

The Swamp Fox is a wooden roller coaster built by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company (PTC for short). It is located at Family Kingdom in Downtown Myrtle Beach. It is a figure 8 wooden coaster that despite its age, continues to thrill guests to this very day. It was built in 1966.

    Stats
    Height: 72ft
    Length: 2,640ft
    Top Speed: 50mph
    Ridden: Yes
Review: Swamp Fox is a fun and classic woodie. Despite its size, this coaster has some good airtime, and with the buzz bars, it makes it better.

Fun Fact: Buzz bars are characterized by just a single lap bar that doesn’t come in contact with the body. They are called buzz bars because when the operator lowers or raises them, the locking mechanism makes a buzzing sound

Like Fury 325, Montu is a steel coaster built by the Swiss manufacturer Bolliger and Mabillard (B&M). Unlike Fury 325, Montu is what is known as an inverted roller coaster. An inverted roller coaster positions riders below the track, which their feet dangle from the coaster train. This gives a feeling of being carried by an eagle by its talons. It is a very fun experience.
    Stats
    Height: 151ft
    Top Speed: 60mph
    Inversions: 7
    Max G force: 3.8
    Ridden: Yes
Review: Montu is a powerful coaster, and it delivers all the thrills. One of the most awesome aspects of the ride is the second half, where you traverse in and out of these trenches, whippin through the inversions and an absolutely smooth ride.

Why not start this series off with a bang!
Fury 325 is a Giga coaster built by the Swiss company Boliger and Mabilard or B&M for short. It is located at Carowinds on the North Carolina/South Carolina Border. It holds the record as the world's tallest and fastest Giga Coaster. A giga coaster has a height between 300 and 399 feet.
    Stats
    Height: 325ft
    Top Speed: 95mph
    Length: 6,602ft (1.25 miles)
    Drop Angle: 81 Degrees
    Opened: March 28, 2015

    Ridden: Yes
Review: Fury 325 delivers the whole package, from speed to airtime. It never lets up until the final brakerun. Yes, there are trims on the airtime hills, but that doesn't really affect the ride. It took my breath away the first time I rode this coaster, and it hasn't changed one little bit.

    This or That?
Perhaps one of the best feelings you can get from a roller coaster, besides the speed is what is called airtime. Airtime is the sensation you get from when your rear leaves the seat when the coaster goes over a hill.
There are two types of airtime: floater and ejector
What's the difference? Well, it all has to do with 3 conditions:
The length of the hill The shape of the hill The speed of the coaster Floater airtime is mainly found on the older style wooden coasters like Shivering Timbers at Michigan's Adventure and B&M hyper coasters. Floater airtime is characterized by a slower upward feeling when cresting a hill. It's rather gentle.
On the other hand, ejector airtime is found on coasters with tight layouts and hills that have a more pointed shape and coasters that traverse these hills faster. GCI woodies like Thunderhead at Dollywood have ejector airtime.
Me? I like both. Sometimes, rides have a combination of both floater and ejector airtime moments. What's more, coasters can have a full combination of both in one hill. We enthusiasts call this "floajector" airtime.
    So what about you?

    This or That?
A lot of coaster enthusiasts have a huge list of coasters they have ridden. However, the #1 thing that could be a split in the fandom is this one thing:

    Wood or Steel Coasters?

Now I know what some of you are thinking: "It doesn't matter! They both deliver thrills!" That's true. However, with the materials, each of them have capabilities.
Wooden coasters give that rickety feeling, sometimes a rough ride.
Steel coasters are very smooth and because steel can bend, they can invert (go upside down).
Now, wooden coasters have tried (and have failed) going upside down (I'm looking at you Son of Beast ) But thanks to Rocky Mountain Coasters, hybrid coasters are on the rise (stay tuned for a blog on that.
So, with a basic understanding, which do you prefer?

Personally, I go with steel. However, I love a modern-day wooden coaster that is full of speed and hauls through its layout. Sure I love a classic woodie, like Phoenix at Knobels, but a GCI (Great Coasters International) woodie like Thunderhead at Dollywood is my goto.
    What about you?

So there's a certain deviant on deviant art who makes really cool flash stuff. However, there is one thing that bugs me a lot about him. He thinks that only original stuff count as art and blocks people who take other people's art and remake it in an original way they see it. So I come to you with this thought "What is really art?"

Well, simple. Art is taking something and making it "you". It's taking whatever you see, hear, touch, smell, taste...and interpreting it in your way.

Do memes count as art? YES!
Do custom trading cards count as art? YES!
Do remixes of songs count as art? YES!

    And the list goes on.

Art can come in any form. You can take a picture of a car from someone and make it you (as long as you give them credit). Just because you do this, doesn't mean that it's not art.

You can take a Beethoven Sonata and make it your way. Does this count as stealing? No! It's taking something that someone made, and twisting it, in the way that YOU see or hear it.

So I leave with this thought: "Art is a language that comes in many forms."

Now every website has it's rules. We all know that. Some websites are very strict, while others are light in their rule enforcing, meaning that they still enforce the rules but give a little leniency.

Now, on deviantart, there hasn't been that much flare about the copyright issue. People upload screenshots and memes that do contain stuff that isn't theirs, which they get away with. I even do this too.

Now, there are just some deviants who take it way too far. This one I know (I won't mention his name), is a total backseat moderator. As a matter of fact, I'm having an issue with him now, for he's been a total jerk to me from the start. Now please don't take this as whining or complaining. What I am saying is, being a "policeman" on a website that isn't yours, isn't right. It makes you look like a total prick and you won't be able to get many friends. He even went as far as acusing me of "lying" because I accepted the rules policy, yet he claims I'm breaking them. I had to laugh and say:

So to answer the question above...NO! It is perfectly great to stand for what is right; but to judge people and throw that crap they call backseat moderating on them will totally make you lose almost all of your friends.

    Happy New Year Everypony!

For the first blog entry of 2014, I would like to annouce the coming of a new piano series. It's called "Take It For A Spin", in which I'm gonna improvise around selected mlp songs. Whether it be canon or fanmade, it'll be a doozy! I won't annouce what pieces I'll be doing, it'll all be random!

So get ready for a epic series in an epic year!

"One two three four, this is how fast time goes by. I can't seem to find the meaning of my life."
    Seven Wiser

Time sure goes by fast. Before you know it, the semester will be over. Boy I wish Twilight Sparkle had a spell to slow down how fast a clock ticks.

It is soooo hard to mangage my time here at college. One because I am a new freshman, two, my "freedom instincts" are kicking in and I have so many balls to juggle at once. Any advice on how to mange your time as a freshman in college?
