Discord turned them. "Hm. Interesting turn of events," he smirked. He glanced at King Sombra and spoke to him as if the ruler cared. "Not sure if I like it or not, but interesting." King Sombra gave him a look, but stayed silent. King Sombra didn't speak much at times. Midnight's ears twitched as he heard Villan yelling. Midnight turned to see that he had tackled Shade to the ground. Immediately, he knew. Shade wouldn't ever push him away. Midnight stood up and glanced around at them all. He turned and began to gallop back to the castle. Midnight shrugged and nodded at the crazy girl punching the statue. He turned to the gates and ran over to the guard. "Heeeey!" he called. The guard turned to the kid running towards him and raised an eyebrow. "Some guy is climbing over the fence over there!" Midnight said, pointing to the building, referring to behind it. The guard rolled his eyes and sighed. "In or out..." "In." "In!" the guard said, snapping into focus. "Okay! Thanks kid!" the guard said, running off to the back of the building. Midnight watched him for a moment and then ran out the gates into freedom.

@@Doppelrac, Normally?! There's nothing normal about having to live as me! But there's nothing normal about living as you either. Chamois stood there, not saying a word, still in her defensive position, ready to get out of there if she had to. She didn't think she'd have to though. This thing didn't seem very... She was crying. The thing was crying. Chamois felt sorry for her, but she knew that crying solved nothing and continued being silent. @@Mint Drop, Mystical Flow nodded. "Of course. I understand. Sometimes, you need time alone," she said. All the orphans who came here needed time alone on their first day. Even the most clingy ones needed time to just sit and think about what they'd lost. It was worse when they were old enough to know what was happening. "You can sit in my office," Mystical said. "I'll put a sign up saying I'm out and no pony will bother you there. Sometimes..." Mystical smiled. "I like to sit under my desk. Its a bit of a tight fit for me but sometimes it's nice down there. Come on then." Mystical Flow stood up and nodded at her to follow her.

I'm not sure whether or not to be terrified...

@@Mint Drop, Mystical Flow found herself shaking slightly as the filly told Mystical her story. She found tears prickling in her eyes but blinked them away. Sometimes tears helped the child, but sometimes they didn't. Mystical couldn't risk it. "No, Sunset," she said quietly. "I will never let them happen to you for as long as you're here. I won't let anypony take over this orphanage if they are cruel and heartless. And I won't even think of leaving for years to come." Mystical paused for a moment. "I'll protect you like my own."

Discord gave Shade a funny look and looked at Villan. Villan's expression made Discord turn back to Shade and narrow his eyes. Discord looked Shade up and down. "Isn't Shade usually more helpful than this," Discord said carefully. Midnight sat beside his mother, paying them no attention as the poor child cried silently. This wasn't a very good adventure for the young colt to have. Chrysalis went over to King Sombra and smacked him over the head. It ended up hurting her a bit more with all of King Sombra's armor. Sombra growled at her. Midnight frowned. "Mom's no fun," he said quietly when she said the listed down the first two. He giggled a little when she said the third. Then she finished. "I don't know," Midnight answered. "But the school is boring! It's just books and b-books!" Midnight said, not knowing what else to say that it had. Maybe it really just was books and books.

@@Doppelrac, Chamois's jaw dropped and she stumbled back, falling onto her bottom. She stared directly at Shade, locking her teeth together. You should run. Get out of there, now. She's a...thing. Go get help, one voice told her quickly. No! Running shows fear! And if I ran, she'd probably just come and get me. And I don't need any help. Getting help never gets you anywhere. I deal with things on my own, another voice told her, shoving the other voice away. "W-well you we-weren't k-kidding about th-that monst-er thing, were y-you?!" Chamois stuttered, standing up so that she was in a more ready position. @@Mint Drop, Mystical Flow looked down at the filly. She felt her heart ache for the poor, innocent child who had been thrown so many challenges. But deep inside, she knew that in the end, the filly would grow into a strong mare. And maybe then she'd be given a break and get an easy life. But it still didn't change how everything was now. And what mattered was now. "I cannot say that everypony here is good," Mystical Flow said quietly. "But I know that this orphanage is more disciplined them some others. And what's more is that they have some pony watching over them that cares. And I would never let anypony hurt anypony else. Whether with words, or physically," Mystical Flow continued, wanting so bad to reassure the little one. Mystical Flow was close to tears herself.

Discord looked over at Shade. "Uu! Shade! A little help?" Discord said, even though he didn't really need help. Sombra's powers would be gone for a few minutes and he was stuck in the ground. Midnight spun away, ready to dash off if he needed to. He then saw that it was the older girl from Mr. Bones class. He liked her! She seemed nice! Midnight grinned. "I'm going to go outside!" Midnight said, pointing towards the gate, referring to outside the school gates when he said outside.

@@Mint Drop, "Sunset..." Mystical whispered worriedly. She sat down beside the trembling ball on the floor. "I...let me sing you a song..." she said quietly. Mystical Flow wasn't exactly a wonderful singer, but she wasn't tone deaf either. She was average at best. "Don't you worry, I'm watching over you. Don't you cry, I'm making things alright. Not everypony always has it easy. Not everypony always has to have it hard. Things always get better in the end, as long you stay strong. As long as you stay strong..." Mystical wanted to get the filly a room for herself, but she was hesitant to do so. There were many nice fillies she could make friends with in the other room, and other foals have asked for their own room. It wouldn't seem fair to them. She may get her a room for herself for a week until she can adjust. @@Doppelrac, Chamois snorted. "Oh, a monster I see," Chamois said, unamused. She was too serious to believe many things before she saw it. "Okay, sorry," she sighed, realizing she was being a bit of a jerk to the slightly younger filly. "But, I honestly have no idea what you're talking about."

King Sombra swung around and began to fade into the ground as a shadow. Discord grabbed at him but Sombra slipped right through his fingers in his shadowy form. "Okay. Enough of this," Discord growled. Discord snapped his talon and the shadows seemed to move away as Sombra turned back to his pony form. Since he had been halfway in the ground already, he was stuck and absolutely furious. Discord glared down at him. "The spirit of chaos you idiot. The spirit. Of. Chaos." Discord looked up. "And hey. I don't even see any of you others doing anything either. Yeah, Midnight? Except for...you...over there," Discord said, fluttering his fingers at Villan. "What are you doing?" Midnight hurried outside of the school building. Just as the pony version of Midnight had left the castle to explore, this Midnight was doing the same thing. He had slipped out of his mother's guidance and was now skipping across the grass, wondering where to wander off to. Perhaps he could hurry out the school gates if he was careful.

Chamois noticed the other ponies going to the forest. Chamois paused for a long moment and then trotted after them, not knowing why exactly she decided to. She just had a feeling that she should. As Chamois neared the forest, she began to hear the singing. Her ears twitched and at first, Chamois's not trusting mind resisted against the spell, but Chamois was not a very powerful pony. She too, fell into the haunting song and found her hooves going towards the direction of the voice, her hooves matching the rhythm of the song.

@@Doppelrac, "Cursed?" Chamois repeated straightly, giving her an odd look. Then she decided to play along. "Well I suppose any pony who got stuck here could be cursed. Wouldn't be surprised if I was." @@Mint Drop, Mystical Flow frowned. "Well...all the colts stay in one big room, and all the fillies stay in another big room. So you'll be sharing with all the other fillies. You can pick any of the free beds though..." she said, a bit unsure. At the moment, she couldn't tell what the filly wanted the answer to be.

At that moment where Luna lost focus, King Sombra shot at her with another blast of dark magic. Luna went crashing to the ground, Midnight still in her arms as she went unconscious. "M-mom?" Midnight cried, pulling out of her arms. "That isn't my fault," Discord said. "Aren't you supposed to be doing something instead of just sitting there and being a big meanie?!" Midnight cried, jumping up and facing Discord. "Mm. Hate," Chrysalis whispered, trying to make a point. It didn't work. Discord said something in his defense and Midnight growled a reply. Chrysalis finally tried to smack Discord in the back of his head but he disappeared and appeared behind King Sombra, his edge coming back. Discord patted King Sombra on the head. "I suppose I should do something." Luna glanced at Shade and shook her head for a moment, not wanting to accept help from this child. But eventually, she gave in and threw her arms up, letting him fall into her thighs with a smack. "Fine! But you better not just be trying to ditch," Luna said, leaving the room.

@@Mint Drop, Mystical smiled and nodded. "Alright then. Have you only been to the cafeteria? I could show you to the rooms. It's usually nice and quiet there during this time of day." Mystical Flow could tell by the fillies body language that she wanted to be alone. And she understood, not from self-experience, but from the experience of watching those around her. @@Doppelrac, Chamois Vine jumped back slightly when the filly began to yell at her. Chamois stepped back. She wanted to snap right back at her but the filly's sorry stopped her at the last moment. "Its okay," was all she said.

So I spent half the day wondering if I should enter today's NATG Then I spent the next half of the day wondering what to draw. In the end, I drew Derpy for the first time. It took me...about an hour. And of course, as usual, I did use only my mouse and an awesome art program. I entered because the last time I entered, yesterday, I got three favorites and four comments on DA. Now, that's a lot for me!

@@Doppelrac, "Then what are you doing?" Chamois asked suspiciously, walking towards her. She heard voices from inside the classroom and knew that Mystical Flow was in there. Probably with the filly from the mess hall. Chamois gazed at the filly before her from the corners of her eyes, as her head was turned in an almost defensive position.

@@Avolon, Chamois looked at him and opened her mouth to say something. It was too late. He teleported the water above the library and passed out from the strain of the spell. Chamois blinked. The water came flying down over the fire and Chamois. "Gah!" Chamois cried out as she got soaked.

"Release the crystal ponies you've imprisoned! As the ruler of Equestria, we command thee!" Luna yelled at King Sombra. King Sombra growled at her. "I was the ruler of this kingdom! You simply came in and took it right from me!" Discord snorted. "Yeah, I know the feeling. Where's Celestia, Chryssie?" Discord smiled at Chrysalis. Chrysalis gave him a look and then turned back to King Sombra. "Thou were a wicked ruler! We rule Equestria and we shall decide who rule the kingdoms within it! And we will never let thou rule anything again!" "I ruled Equestria once," Discord said quietly. King Sombra hissed at her. "I only try to rule this kingdom! I never tried to rule Equestria! How dare you interfere where it is not your place?" "They interfere with a lot," Discord said. "We had to interfere! Thou rule was affecting the whole of Equestria! And we couldn't stand by as you tore apart the crystal ponies! We must protect our ponies!" "They weren't your ponies when I---" Discord started. "How come no pony has killed thou yet?!" Luna yelled, turning to Discord. "Strange, isn't it?" Discord said. A few of the students knew where Midnight was, but it wasn't as if they wanted to go back to learning! Luna sighed and began towards the middle of the class. "Bones...I...I'm sorry, really," Luna whispered, embarrassed as she glanced around for Midnight. Midnight grinned up at Shade and then dashed out from under the desk and out the door, giggling quietly. Luna swung around at the last moment to see him disappear. She cried out in frustration; "You have got to be kidding me!" "Need some help?" Bones smirked. "I'm sure one of the students here are okay with kids."

Midnight felt his heart shatter inside his chest as Shade moved away. The young, unknowing child gazed up at Shade, his eyes filling with tears. "Midnight!" Midnight turned around to see the princess of the night rushing towards him. Luna scooped him up into her forelegs and hugged him tightly. Too tightly in fact. "Oh, Midnight, I was so worried about y-ah!" Luna gasped as a blast of magic flew past them. Luna looked at King Sombra who stood, facing her, obviously furious. Midnight beamed up at her. This Midnight had never before met the Shade of that world yet, but he wasn't afraid of the stranger. Luna brushed her forehead with the back of her hand. "Midnight. Come on," she whined, causing a number of students to giggle at her. Luna glared at them as they did, making them immediately go silent. "Seriously, someone please point Midnight out to me so that you can get back to learning!"

Midnight looked up at Villan. "R-really?" he whispered. Midnight glanced around and saw Shade. Midnight bounced to his hooves and galloped over to Shade. He threw himself at her. "Shade!" (I'll try something out here) As Bones was teaching, suddenly, the door of the classroom burst open and in ran a kid around the age of five. He ran in and dove under a random desk, causing the students at it to jump away in surprise. Principle Luna came up to the doorway, breathing heavily. "M-Midnight!" she called. She slumped onto the door frame and sighed. "T-this is why I can't take y-you to work...forgive me, Mr. Bones," she apologized.
