Blossom Heart

Ghostweaver
  • No Not Cast Young Adult

When she was born, Blossom Heart was named for the tiny wisp of mane growing atop her head. Thin, baby pink floss flushed with rose tones at the roots fell around her crown and called to mind the image of a cherry blossom, hence the name her parents gave her. As a young mare, she has truly grown into her flowery namesake. Blossom is a thin, toned, slightly taller than average mare with a near-palpable air of grace about her. Despite being a trained dancer, she possesses a delicate presence that suggests the fragility of an ephemeral cherry blossom.
Blossom is a professional dancer and model, and as one would expect from a public figure she maintains a very strict beauty routine. Though she steers clear from makeup, her coat, mane, and tail are all shampooed and conditioned daily alongside receiving hair mask treatments twice weekly. As a result, her coat and coif always have a healthy sheen and her unreasonably long, wavy mane and tail are completely free of damage or split ends. Blossom even conditions and treats her eyelashes twice weekly, as their pale pink colour is a small point of pride for her.

For a model, she has many qualities one would not expect. The delicate air about her, the total disregard for makeup, and finally a total lack of care for fashion. Blossom keeps a very minimal and simplistic wardrobe, and when she does select an outfit it is typically a simple sundress or shawl. Even so, the simplest clothing on Blossom can transform into a fashion statement. Her nonchalant attitude towards her outfits and her obvious lack of care towards style transforms her simple wardrobe into simply chic.

Female Pegasus Blossom’s cutie mark is a heart formed by budding cherry blossom tree branches. It is a reflection of her strengths and weaknesses alike: her beauty and grace as well as her fragility. The short lifespan of cherry blossoms connotes ephemerality, and is telling of Blossom’s fleeting confidence. That these branches take the shape of a heart in her cutie mark is representative of Blossom’s weakest qualities being a part of who she is and a part of what makes her strong. She overcame many insecurities to be happy with who she is and to be comfortable as somepony whose passion and aspirations put her directly in front of a crowd. https://buffy.mlpforums.com/1b89a1b5080c5b74c86f1fb5b65adbbc.png

Blossom Heart doesn’t have the sort of personality one would expect of a professional dancer with a high profile career, at least not during first impressions off the dance floor. She is quiet, softspoken, and oftentimes come across as quite timid. That said, her shy nature is often mistaken for an arrogant sort of aloofness that has brought about accusations of her being quite the snob. Anypony who can get her to open up, however, understands that Blossom is perhaps as far from arrogant as one can get. She will be quite the loyal friend to anypony who sticks around long enough to coax her out of her shell.

When she performs or models, though, her confidence radiates. Her movements are precise and elegant, and her control over every pose and expression possesses an almost ethereal beauty. It seems very unlike her, but while she models she becomes a cold, unflappable beauty. There is a haunting quality to her face in every photo that when paired with her long, flowing mane has the presence of some sort of spirit creature.
Some quirks worth noting would be the hobbies she indulges in outside of dance or modeling. Blossom Heart absolutely adores mushrooms and even though she is far from a walking mushroom encyclopedia, she is still quite passionate about them! She thinks they are tiny and cute and carries a polaroid camera in her bag everywhere she goes in case she spots a little “mushy” (as she calls them) that she wishes to take a picture of. Her bedroom walls are covered in photographs, drawings, and polaroid snaps of all the little mushies she has come across in her life. She is also a very confident flier, as taking to the skies demands the same athleticism and grace one must possess to succeed as a professional dancer. In her head, she giddily thinks of flying as sky dancing, though she’d be quite embarrassed to admit this to anypony.

As a mare, Blossom Heart actually possesses much more confidence than she ever could have predicted in her fillyhood. Despite being nervous around journalists and anypony new, she is a professional and as such knows when to put her work face on - which she needs to do with more frequency every day that passes. Despite this, however, she can never truly hide her shy and bashful nature. Unexpected questions, personal questions, or too many questions will always catch her off guard and shake her confidence while she’s working.

As one who excels in creative fields, Blossom Heart possesses qualities that are fairly stereotypical of artists. She can be terribly disorganized and hare-brained, throws herself into her work for hours at a time and doesn’t really know when to stop or take a break. When working on developing new choreography and steps she has a habit of pulling away from the world and lives in her dance studio both day and night.

Likes: Loud noises, the dark, ghost stories, obnoxious personalities, invasions of privacy, and anything that tastes sour.

When Blossom was a filly, she was a bit of a gangly, awkward creature while her older sister was always the centre of attention. Spotlight Sweet was bold, brave, and lovely in everything that she did - especially when she was singing or acting. Unfortunately, she liked to rub that fact in quite a lot, and had a habit of telling her little sister she would always be the one to shine brightest. Even her name was a reminder of that fact. And while Spotlight’s attitude was moreso a product of her own overwhelming confidence rather than any sort of meanness, it only added to Blossom’s sense that she was the lesser sister.

All that Blossom had to give her confidence was dance; she took to it so naturally that every motion she made looked as though she was a petal dancing through a spring breeze. Her love of dance helped her overcome her frail confidence that was so fleeting she was much too shy to meet new ponies or make friends. It took her first performance as a filly to help her truly bloom into a confident performer, however.

The gangly filly Blossom Heart was comfortable practicing together with her classmates when she first enrolled in dance at her parents’ behest. She was afraid, and very nervous, but all the young ponies in her class were learning together and it was fun! She quickly learned that if she stepped out of her quiet shell and applied herself then dance could become the one area where she wasn’t stuck in anypony’s shadow - not even Spotlight’s! The steps, the motions - they all came to her so easily! For once, she wasn’t just Spotlight Sweet’s awkward little sister...she was her own pony, one that stood out. It was the best feeling in the world for her, and the harder she worked to become a better dancer, the more her confidence grew. So it goes without saying that the night of her first solo dance, Blossom Heart’s cutie mark shone into existence. Overcoming her own timid personality to sparkle on stage taught Blossom to be confident...at least while she was dancing, anyhow!

From then on there was no going back. Blossom Heart threw herself into dancing until eventually, when she was old enough, she was accepted into a professional school of dance. Even though she shrugged away from making new friends, she excelled in her learning. She lived and breathed dance, and when she failed or faltered she turned to her family, her parents and her sister. Spotlight Sweet was following her own dreams to become a vocalist, and her attitude had cooled down quite a lot once she started going to school with ponies whose talents were equal to her own. The two sisters quickly became inseparable when they realized how badly they needed the support of somepony who understood their struggles.

After school, Blossom Heart joined up with a dance group, but quickly got involved in solo work after a few successful auditions for work in concerts on the pop scene. Blossom’s work in the pop world propelled her own career forwards, and brought her into a vastly varied dance and modeling career. She performs in videos, on stage, and has even done a few solo tours. And of course it was her work on camera that opened up her modeling career.

Right now, Blossom Heart is trying to step out of the limelight for a personal project. Her dancing comes from typical contemporary Manehattan styles and she hasn’t really stepped away from her training, or what’s popular. She has taken it upon herself to travel to different communities and even countries with a camera in hoof to capture niche styles that she can learn from. She’ll be taking the footage back home to Manehattan to be edited and turned into a dance documentary, too! An amateur documentary, anyhow.

She has a return date set for her travels, and on that date she’ll begin preparation for a huge solo performance! Blossom is thrilled for this, because not only will it force her to step out of her comfort zone to make as many new friends as she can, it’s also part of her biggest solo act yet!
