When in a group, Holly is often described as a "nerdy cheerleader" by her peers. She's intelligent, perky, and enough of a geek to get the best of both groups. She doesn't always have a big goal to work towards, but when she does, she gets it done in a timely, efficient manner. When not working on something, she's often found fooling around either by herself or with her friends. This can lead to some problems, though, because she is a sort of procrastinator.

Holly doesn't ever seem to feel down about anything, at least not in public. Her actions and the actions of her friends inspire her the most, and are normally what keeps her focused on a project. She doesn't work well under pressure, though, which can lead to some franticness and irritability when working with an impending deadline. She does get mad, but she never holds a grudge, and always apologizes, sooner or later.

Nothing angers Holly more than being chastised. She hates being told she's no good, and hates it when it gets to her. This leads to some occasional bullying problems, but she always comes back, making it difficult for the bullies to get any continuous enjoyment out of her misery.

Likes: Something that Holly despises is the bitter taste of coffee. She also hates deadlines, but she's learned to live with them after working as the head of a newspaper. Holly also hates forgetting stuff, because whenever she does, it causes a lot more trouble to both her and those closest to her. She is also startled by loud noises, which leads her to avoid parties.

Born and raised as an only filly in Cloudsdale, Holly always had a knack for writing. English was by far her best subject in school, and her friends and teachers alike enjoyed reading her fiction stories more than anything else. As entertaining as fiction was, though, she had always wanted to report the news. She had always loved the cold, hard facts that the news published, and she admired the courage and determination of the reporters themselves for going to the literal end of the world to get a story.

Many ponies believed that Holly's "dream" of reporting the news was just a phase, and that it would pass soon. When it didn't, and Holly announced to her parents on how she wanted to report the news as a profession, they, of course, tried to talk her out of it. It was a heated debate, but Holly finally won out. So, even without the support of her parents, she started her own newspaper to give her an excuse to travel all around Equestria, find stories to report, and be just like the ponies she's wanted to be.

Her newspaper business took her far. At first it was just local stories, but as her popularity began to expand, so did her search radius. Soon she found herself at the Crystal Empire, interviewing a citizen of the famed citadel about how its history and how nice it and the ponies are, then to the badlands to get information on rising activity levels, to Canterlot to give a first-pony tour of the place. And all the while, her fanbase was growing. She was recieving letters from every kind of pony imaginable. Fans to critics to royalty, Holly and her newspaper had become something beyond what she could have ever expected it to be.

Soon, she started getting résumés from ponies who wanted to join her in reporting the news. As exited as she was to have this many eager ponies, she couldn't help but remember that this was her dream, not anybody elses. But then she realized that if they wanted to join her dream, it must be their dream, too. So she started hiring. Pretty soon, she had writers, editors, and reporters, all willing to do whatever it took to get the news out to Equestria. Holly's position went from doing everything herself to becoming the editor-in-chief, making suggestions to the writers and directing the reporters where to go for their next big scoop, and she loved every minute of it.

Holly is now taking a leave of abscence from her newspaper's responsibilities, heading to Ponyville for some rest and relaxation. She left the newspaper in the hooves of her second-in-command, knowing that the newspaper wouldn't get too out of control. She, of course, still answers as much fanmail as she can in a day, but she also wants to go sightseeing and make some new friends while on her vacation, which she knows she will.

    • None of Holly's friends ever joined her newspaper, although they continued their support for her nevertheless.
    • Holly's newspaper is much like one found in the human world, with different sections dedicated to different topics.

This looks pretty good, however that are two references to human tendencies. One where you said first child, should be foal or filly. The other was first person tour. They're not people, so neither would work.

There are a couple of other things that would round out her backstory a bit more, however these are advise, and not required:

  • Her colors are almost blindingly bright. You may want to tone them down a bit.
  • You mention that she's smart enough to play RPG's. It's a really odd thing to say without it being tied in with what she enjoys. I would consider either removing it, or adding RPGs to her list of likes beyond just "playing games with her friends". Also, I've seen plenty of idiots play RPG's. I think likening her intelligence to the understanding of a game devalues her quite a bit.

You're quite close, I promise. Minor tweaks and you should be golden.

Ok, let me see if I've got this:

  • I fixed the wording of those two sentences. I'll get it eventually! (Although I did think that child was more of a general term than something that applies specifically to humans.)
  • I toned down the colors that really stood out, hopefully making her more appealing to the eye.
  • I took out the thing about RPGs. Thinking about it, it really didn't fit with anything else I was talking about.

Hopefully I did verything correctly, but I'll be honest, being made of gold doesn't sound so appealing.
