Ambisinister Valence
By Widdershins
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Species: Earth Pony
Appearance:
Species: Two-thirds pony, One-third changeling*

When Ambie's mother told his bungling father to give him the "Talk" she had MEANT about his unique heritage. As his father has had to spend most of his life disguised as a unicorn & having grown up in a predominately unicorn town, Ambie always assumed that his physical quirks just had something to do with being an Earth Pony.

Least of that is that he is a particularly pudgy pony. He is usually hungry, due mostly to a deficiency in diet that he's never quite been able to put a hoof on. His mane is a leafy shade of green which tends to loosely clump together on alternating sides of his neck and face in vaguely fin-like shapes that culminate in a large inward cowlick that shades his eyes from a front view. Ambie's tail matches the color of his mane, but is straighter & longer than the usual style for stallions as he doesn't like getting his hair cut. The tip of his tail flips inward a bit and gives it a slight question mark shape when it's held out straight. His tail can usually be found tucked in between his back legs. Ambie's hooves come to a bit of a sharper angle than most ponies' and his front legs are stronger then his back. This makes him a rather quick & efficient digger when the need arises. Though it rarely does. More noticeable is his monochromatic eyes. Instead of pupils, Ambie just has big, bright green irises. This lends him a usually wide-eyed & vacant look.

Though likely the first thing your apt to notice is his coat. Ambie was born with a fine, nearly translucent fur & fair skin. Usually this gives him a light-peachy complexion, (But don't call him out on being a pink stallion, as you'll only make him turn redder!) however the faster his blood moves and the more emotional he gets, so too does his coat color match his mood. These blushes of color will tend to travel in waves from his face, down his neck and across his belly to his flank. If his moods change too quickly(and they tend to) it might take a while for his butt to catch up to his face.

Coat colors & their corresponding emotions are as follows:
Pink/Red: Embarrassment, redder in hue directly in relation to the *ahem* intensity of the situation.
White: Scared or in low light
Blue: Calm or restful
Green: Envy, but usually when he's pouting
Black: Anger and Depression
When in an especially deep bout of depression, anger will make his mane stand on end & his irises will expand to dominate his large eyes making him appear closer to his changeling ancestry.

Cutie Mark:
No cutie mark yet, but that might be due to his genetics or that he just hasn't been on his own long enough to find what he's good at.

Personality:
Personality

Trusting & naive to a point of being a complete blockhead. He's still quite amazed that food grows from dirt instead of just appearing magically on fridge & pantry shelves.
Ambie is a rather high-strung horse & scares quite easily. He hates surprises & loud noises but most of all is scared of the dark. It isn't unusual for him to have a stroke of bad luck and wind up locking himself in a closet & wind up a gibbering, face-clinging, pale wreck attached to the next pony that opens the door.
Moody & extremely shy, Ambie gets scared of any social situations that might involve him being around more than two other ponies. Though his appetite will lead him against his reservations at the slightest notion of free food.
Like his father before him, he's quite intelligent & empathetic, but he's quite slow-witted when it comes to new ideas.
In addition to his coat colors, Ambie also involuntarily betrays his attempts to mask his nature by his habit of wagging his tail. While he tries his best to hide his emotions and not come across as too moody, his body broadcasts his feelings better then he can ever put to word.

Backstory:
Backstory

A long while ago, say a decade or two, Chrysalis's hive decided upon sending a contingent of scout-class drones to Canterlot to assess the threat of ponydom. When one bungling young Quark never reported back, the hive decided to cut its losses, presume him dead & pull back to see if any action was taken by Equestria.

Turns out the young changeling had forgotten entirely about his mission and had started focusing more on being a genuine servant to the noble family he had been assigned to rather then his hive's orders. One fateful day, not a week into having infiltrated, Quark tripped & accidentally revealed himself to the Nobleman's (Noblestallion?) daughter. Pleading her help to conceal his identity, they began a lifelong relationship, coming back a few days later as a new stallion each time Quark tripped up or her father disapproved. Eventually, after enough failed attempts and coming back as a different stallion for another shot, Quark caught on to what he had to do to make Victoria's father happy enough to approve of their relationship. After they both grew up and became teachers at Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns, they soon married and had their only child: Ambie.

He was born to two moderately renown teachers: Quantum Query (Quark), a dark brown, lanky stallion with greying mane & beard with an oddly curved horn (most have learned not to ask Mr.Query questions unless they want to induce a migraine) who is a rather absent-minded professor of science and a rather imposing, heavier-set, dowdy unicorn mare of light-green coat & straw-gold mane, Victoria Vector Valence, head of the History Department as his mother. Ambie was taught from a very young age the importance of one's place in society & the family name. A noble lineage was instilled in his mother from Victoria's father before her: Viceroy Victor Vector Valence. It was imperative to Victoria that not only her son was to carry on the family name, but to get him the best schooling possible, no matter if he lacked the physical capacity to channel magic or do half the classes given out at CSGU.

Growing up hornless in a unicorn town & attending a unicorn-only school did make somewhat of a spectacle of Ambie. While he may have gotten pushed around a few times & a constant barrage of accommodations so that he could stay at said school, he was for the most part ignored. Ambie grew up as a Latchkey Colt, whatever little spare time he had between his schooling, homework and his mother's lessons in being a "proper gentlecolt" he spent with his only friends, the constant parade of replaceable tropical fish his family kept. He never saw much of his parents as they were usually kept busy grading homework or school politics and his father even had to be reminded on occasion that he even had a son. Even after school ended his mother insisted on Etiquette College and other programs meant to groom him for the family nobility.

Only during this past year had Ambie wizened up, that maybe it'd be healthier for him to be away from his family and pursue his own life. Which would be easier to do, had he any idea how things work outside his household like money or talking to ponies. So Ambie just packed his saddlebag & the saddle he pulled out from his mother's closet(it looked like travel gear, he doesn't know what else it could be used for) and started walking in whatever direction didn't have Canterlot.
