Cutie Mark: http://nioniosbbbb.deviantart.com/art/Artemis-Featherclaw-and-Lykos-452026472

Three scars made by three feathers bearing the same colors as her mane with their roots aiming one downwards and right, one in the middle, and one downwards and left.
Personality: Artemis is a unruly soul and despises oppresion in every form. She follows the law or authority only if the one practicing it serves a purpose she supports. However... all ancestry should be respected no matter what and the opinions of your elders should always be at least heard before you decide to do something.

She dislikes the big Metropolis-type cities of Equestria. She believes that today's form of pony society is innefective since its' schools lack proper classes about teaching young ponies to take initiative.

Growing up in a forest with a ranger she bears great love for nature and animals, thus adding arsonists, poachers, and those who pollute nature to her list of enemies.

She believes that trust is gained through actions and not words. Make your words count and she shall too.
Backstory: Many ponies dream of living a peaceful life near mother nature. So did Artemis' parents... Not long after their marriage they decided to move in with some of their belongings to one of the northern forests of Equestria. However not all ponies are suited for living in the wild. Not too long after Artemis was born her parents fell prey to a pack of snow tigers.

But Lady Luck had not abandoned the little filly yet. While treading through the forest the watchful eye of a male pegasus caught wind of the little filly. He was a local ranger that went by the name Forest Wing.

Forest Wing knew that almost none lived in the forest and few ever passed through it. Looking at the little pony slowly and steadily the realization came to mind that the little filly was probably orphaned. He knew that if she stayed for over a year in the forest during such a crucial point of her youth would kill any chances of re-integration with pony society, let alone speaking, or even surviving the forest. So it was that the kind ranger took the filly under his Wing naming her Artemis.

For better or worse Artemis kept a part of her animalistic ferocity. Later that ferocity evolved into an unbound spirit and with the help of Forest Wing this newfound determination was directed towards the advancement of her own spirit, body and soul.

Forest Wing knew that it wouldn't be long before he became too old to follow her, or she would eventually grow out of the forest. He could only prepare her for what would come in the future. He was happy all the way however... because the time they spent together was time spent well. He viewed Artemis as his daughter and Artemis viewed him as a father and a mentor.

Under his tutelage she learned how to fly with agility and cross the forest as fast as she did with the sky. She learned how to stalk and hunt her prey, and while doing that she realized that claw and gauntlet/like weapons appealed more to her wild nature thus "donning" the surname Featherclaw.

Despite her savage begginings Artemis grew to appreciate the forest and it's denizens. Her "father" supported this behavior and taught her of the balance of the forest, the eternal cycle of life and death.

What Artemis didn't know is that this would be one of the last lessons her adopted father would teach her. So it was that all things came full circle... and she asked of her mother and origins. When they tracked her parent's old home the ranger was worried that this might scar the young mare. Surprisingly enough he found out that Artemis had dealt with it over time, what she was truly afraid was that she was abandoned there. Knowing that her true parents loved her even though they died put some rest on the worries she had.

It wasn't much later that age took it's toll upon Forest Wing. Artemis knew then that Forest Wing was preparing her for his own death. But such is life... you cannot hold grudges against nature for giving you the lifespan it does.

However the death of her mentor and the confirmation of the one of her parents signalled an end to Artemis' life in the forest. She made herself two black hoofbands to honor the memories of the fallen. Taking all she could carry she begun her journey to the world. Now where would that lead her? Who knows? Not me... not you... nor fate.
