Astral Legend

    • Age: 25

      Gender: Male

      Species: Unicorn

Cutie Mark: It's a open spell book with a wand in the middle. It means that Astral is very good with creating spells because of his wild imagination and also has the skill and control to use them as well.

Personality: Astral Legend is a very brave and courageous pony. Although he's not too good with dealing with other ponies, he's very shy and a bit skittish but he tries to hide it by acting cool and calm. His calm demeanor sometimes bring out a sort of a father figure in him when it comes to fillies and colts. A great listener and loves to help ponies with any problem they may have.

Backstory: Astral Legend's childhood was a rough one. From the beginning, as Astral was growing up and he was about 10 at the time. His parents noticed that he never spent time outside with other ponies of his age. He always stayed inside to study magic and his role model, Starswirl the Bearded. Astral knew when he was gifted when to came to magic but he didn't know how to control it and that really conflicted with his helpful nature. Whenever he wanted to help his parents out with simple stuff like doing the dishes or cleaning the house. He would try but do it with magic to get better at controlling but he would end up breaking a lot of stuff and put himself in great danger, almost every chore he tried to do turned into a battle of survival with Astral's magic not listening to his command whenever he tried to help with anything so his parents finally asked him not to use magic in the house or anywhere else. Astral didn't take to kindly to that, telling them that he loves his magical abilities and that he would be just like Starswirl when he grew up. He knew he could do it but he just didn't know how and that they'd never understand his feelings when he failed over and over again. To try so hard at becoming better at controlling his magic, only to have it blow up in his face later. His parents tried to console him but couldn't have understood him because their magic and ideals wasn't as strong or big as Astral's was. They felt bad for their son who stayed locked up in his room all the time frustrated that he couldn't control his magic. So, they gained an audience with Princess Celestia herself to ask her if she could help him control his magic. Celestia told them that she would put him through school dedicated to magic, to help him control it and put his mind at ease.

His parents were delighted to hear the news, know that they could count on their Princess for help as they were out of ideas on how to handle their son. Although they were unicorns, they didn't have the big aspirations that Astral had nor the magical power he had either. When they went home to tell Astral the good news, they found that he wasn't there anymore. All of his stuff was gone and was replaced with a note on the floor of his room. His parents couldn't believe it, their own son ran away from home and they read the note. Astral had wrote down just how bad he really wanted to learn how to control his magic and just what he was willing to do in order to become like his idol, Starswirl. He wrote down that he wouldn't come back to see them until he had done what he set out to do. While his mother wanted to go find him immediately to bring him back, his father did not. Knowing if they came for him, they'd only be making things worse for the poor boy. His father and mother had a long talk about Astral, ultimately deciding that they would go after him but they wouldn't get in the way of his goal. They would give him the provisions he needed to tough it out in the big wide world of Equestria.

With that being said, they eventually caught up to Astral who was camped out at the edge of the Everfree Forest. It was in the middle of the night when they found him and he was sleeping, mumbling in his sleep that he would make his parents proud of him no matter what and maybe even Equestria one day. His parents left him with a lot of food to eat on his way also left him a note saying that they would be watching him during this whole journey of his as they wouldn't abandon him. They said in the note that they understood and let him do what he pleased and that they'd always love him. It touched Astral in such a way that made him even more determined to do what he set out to do and thanked them for what provisions they gave him. Now that he had everything he needed, he set off into the wild away from everypony in order to perfect his magic abilities. Eventually settling down in a cave in the Canterlot mountains overlooking Froggy Bottom Bog and the Everfree. After his parents had set out what they wanted to do, they came back to Celestia to tell her the news and she told them that she was proud of them for seeing things in Astral's point of view and that if he wanted to come to her about his magic, the door was open. Celestia was eager to see what would become of Astral during his whole journey and had his parents keep an eye on him at all times because he was still young and may never know what would happen in there. They agreed of course and over the years they watched and protected Astral as he practiced his magic day in and day out for the day that he truly could get a hang of it then the real training would begin.

As Astral grew up and gotten into his middle teens, he began little by little to get in control of his magic. A little on his own and the books about Starswirl's theory on magical applications given to him by his parents which Celestia lent the books to them. It lead to Astral creating his own original spell that took nature energy, the energy that gives all living things life and turning it into a powerful healing spell which he dubbed, Astral Recovery. It was this moment that Astral gained his own cutie mark. This spell he created thing branched off into other spells dealing with many different subjects that Starswirl had questions or concerns about that he didn't get finished with in his life. Astral put his own spin on these theories to create more and more spells. Whether it be original or making already existing spells that he could muster somewhat more efficient. Needless to say, Astral had achieved what he set out to do but now that he completed his main goal in life. Just where did he go from there? It took him long to think about this as he didn't want his hard earned effort go to waste. He didn't get his answer until venturing out into the Everfree Forest one day. He wanted to get one specific plant from the Everfree to use in an experiment. Although, he felt that trouble was brewing near him and he was right, a small dragon with purple scales and green spikes ran into him all of a sudden.

Astral was surprised to meet a dragon all the way out here so close to Ponyville. Not wanting to be a stranger, he asked the dragon just what it was he was running from. The dragon said a timberwolves then proceeded to try to get Astral to run with him. Astral told the dragon that there was nothing to be afraid of and he'd take care of it. As he said that, the timberwolves had caught up with the dragon and now seeing Astral there. They proceeded to try to attack them both but slowly moving toward them as they noticed that Astral wasn't afraid of them though Astral only had the dragon hide behind him. Astral already met these creatures before and knew how to take care of them. Using a simple spell to mimic his voice to sound like another creature, he told the dragon to cover his ears as this was going to be loud.

Astral opened his mouth and what came out of it sound like the roar of a great dragon. It was more than enough to frighten the creatures and fled in fear. Now that they were gone, he escorted the dragon out of the Everfree but not before asking the name of the dragon. He told him that his name was Spike, Twilight's number one assistant. Astral introduced himself as well, telling him that he was just a researcher of magic. After escorting Spike out of the forest, Spike asked more about Astral as it wasn't everyday you met a capable stallion near Ponyville. Astral was more than happy to tell Spike about himself and one thing led to another shortly after and became best friends quickly. Spike was Astral's first friend and at this point, the only creature other than his parents and Celestia (even though she never met him in pony) who even knows about him, Luna doesn't because Astral doesn't sleep at night so she's the only stallion that she doesn't know and other ponies never seen him before. Astral eventually goes back to Ponyville to catch up with his parents and gets a house there due to Spike's intervention though only coming out at night as he's still not comfortable being around many ponies at once yet.
