Bashful Thread / Scissor Biter

Appearance: Bashful Thread appears with a blue coat with a green and dark grey mane. Often times wearing a tailoring outfit designed to help carry all his needles, assorted threads, scissors and other tools needed for his job as a tailor.<br /><br />In his changeling form he is Scissor Biter. His carapace is dark with blue outer shell and cyan wings (One of which is torn, making flight difficult). His eyes are blue with yellow/green irises, and has a characteristic jagged teeth that tend to poke out from under his lip.
Cutie Mark: Scissors cutting golden spool of thread. He technically has no cutie mark, but this has come out of him when trying to hastily come up with his alternate persona.
Personality: Scissor Biter tends to be very paranoid about people finding out he is a changeling among Ponyville. Often times he is observant of other people's behavior, not just to mimic them if need be, but to get a better understanding of them in general. "Walk a mile in another person's shoes" is something he can literally do, and sometimes this skill can give him great insight into another pony's personality, maybe even let them see strengths they aren't fully aware they have, or remind them of ones they taken for granted. <br /><br />What often hinders Scissor Biter is that he is an introvert. He has difficulties engaging with other ponies, because while he looks like one, he doesn't have a lot of the mannerisms of one, so often has to copy what others do, even if he doesn't understand why.<br /><br />Manipulation is the corner-stone of Scissor Biter's survival in Ponyville. Outside of having a form that masks his body, he often times has to lie in order to keep everyone at a safe distance. It's not so much a want to pull ponies' legs, so much as he really wants to keep himself hidden, and that means he can never be wholely honest, sometimes even with himself.<br /><br />His persona of Bashful Thread is a very nervous and energetic persona, flip-flopping depending on how 'into' a task he can be in. Easily intimidated, he is a coward at heart, but this especially shows through with Bashful Thread. He's not adventurous, he's not brave, he's not even confrontational for the most part. Things just seem to 'happen' that keep adding complications!<br /><br />But no matter how much he tries to become a good Pony of Ponyville, he has instincts. These instincts tend to show up mostly during high stress, where the 'insect brain' takes over a thought, or worse, his hunger.<br /><br />Stomach rumbling at inopportune times, the inability to eat food with ponies, and the need to feed upon love of all kinds, leaves Bashful Thread hungry, and what little food he does collect from patrons is given to his 'family' out there in the woods. This leaves him with an insatiable hunger that is barely kept at bay by his two room mates, Fire Cracker and Orange Lace.<br /><br />However, he is careful to only take small bits at a time, because how horrible is it to see the only two people who know your secret and still love you slowly wither into beings with no more love to give, drained dry? This thought terrifies Bashful Thread.<br /><br />So now he is caught between the life that is a lie, and the impulses of something darker, and somewhere in between, he is still finding out Who he really is.
Backstory: After the defeat of of Queen Chrysalis, the changeling swarm was scattered. Lurking in the forests around Ponyville, one changeling Scissor Biter crept along the outskirts, taking what little love he could scrounge to feed his little sisters and brothers. <br /><br />On the road, he encountered two Earth Ponies, Caring but Stern Orange Lace and Protective and Passionate Fire Cracker. They were moving into Ponyville, and Scissor Biter took the appearance of a fellow Earth Pony, calling himself Bashful Thread. He played on Orange Lace's sympathy at first, even to Fire Cracker's protests. It took some convincing, but Fire Cracker had always taken Orange Lace's sympathies seriously, considering her to be a good judge of character.<br /><br />They took him in and he lived in their basement for months, helping Orange Lace in her clothing shop and learning the trade. Perhaps it was her empathy that lead her to take in what she believed to be a downtrodden pony, or maybe it was how much they had in 'common'. Fire Cracker was less trusting, feeling the need to protect his long time comrade in Orange Lace. As a retired guard the castle, he took duties on patrol around Ponyville, especially as it seems so many threats became evident after so much time of peace.<br /><br />Bashful Thread kept things low, but it was clear the caring that both these ponies had for each other may be enough to start not only sustaining himself, but some of the swarm!<br /><br />Every few nights, he would sneak out to deliver what little sustenance he could muster for his family of changelings, losing his own strength to sustain them.<br /><br />Over the time he had spent with the two though, something odd happened. Among the swarm, he was one of many, knowing love as food, and moving as a part of a greater thing. Here though, slowly, that inverted itself. Now even as his fear of getting caught, it was Orange Lace, without knowing it, was trying to comfort and guide him, almost like a second mother. Even Fire Cracker would stand up for Bashful Thread, who even in his pony form, was incredibly small, and they developed a big-brother/little-brother relationship.<br /><br />On the return of one outing, he was spotted. Running in fear of being caught, he would collide with Fire Cracker, exhausted and hungry, he could not remain in his Earth Pony form, and reverted into his changeling form. In Fire Cracker's shock he took one too many steps back and fell down a sheer-face cliff. <br /><br />Diving to catch Fire Cracker, Scissor Biter could not hold the Earth Pony's weight and threw himself between the pony and the ground, his exoskeleton cracking and wings tearing as they crashed, causing Scissor Biter to lose consciousness.<br /><br />When he awoke, it was in his bed at home. Fire Cracker was alright if not a little roughed up, but Scissor Biter was badly hurt, his shell cracked, wings torn, starving and scared. He was in no condition to run. When he tried to speak, claiming his true name, he was hushed by Orange Lace. "You ARE Bashful Thread." They rejected the changeling, and held to the Earth Pony they knew. <br /><br />Bashful Thread still learns to sew from Orange Lace, now the basement turned into Bashful Thread's personal workshop where he tailors and fits clothes perfectly. Ofcourse, it's easy to take measurements when you can take the shape of anyone! Fire Cracker keeps Bashful Thread's secret, if not begrudgingly, and occasionally helps Bashful Thread sneak out and in Ponyville.<br /><br />Yet Bashful Thread worries that one day, Queen Chrysalis will call upon her servant Scissor Biter, and then, his loyalties will be tested. Which begs the question, which one is the real one? Scissor Biter, or Bashful Thread? Only time will tell.
