Appearance: <p> Floating Matter's dark purple hair and her magenta eyes stand in a huge contrast with her light gray coat. She seems a bit weak, but yet she always appears verry confident. To avoid her mane falling into her face, she combs it back, which gives it this "spitfirey" look. Her voluminous tail has some darker wisps that emphasize its curvaceous shape. </p>

Cutie Mark: <p> Her cutie mark shows thre atoms: one hydrogen atom, one lithium atom and one nitrogen atom. So the first atom has 1 electron, the second one 3 and the last one 7. Together these numbers build the number 137. </p>

Personality: <p> Floating Matter is a confident and verry intelligent mare with a pretty strong mind. She thinks extremly rational and always observes and analyses her surroundings. She mostly says what she's thinking and doesn't care if the it might hurt anypony. For her, the truth is more important then anypony's feelings. Social rules and standards just bore her, so she always tries to find her own way to get what she wants from others. And yet, she is verry helpful if she realizes that someone needs help. She is extremly interested in physics and how magic manipulates it. </p>

Backstory: <p> Floating Matter was born in a little village whose inhabitants try to find out the ultimative formula that explains how the world and especially magic works. Her father was a chemist and tought her about the matter everything is made of. He also told her about simple reactions and physical laws, and that magic can manipulate these reactions and laws somehow. Later, Floating Matter visited a special school in which ponies, who are interested in the researches the villagers do, can learn everything about them to continue the researching. That way, the knowlegde this little village collected over the centuries was delivered from generation to generation. Every generation did its own researches and contributed its part to the villages knowledge. </p> <p> While visiting this special school Floating Matter met <span style="color:#525252;">Anima Factus, an unicorn who was interested in the pony anatomy. They became good friends, and after finnishing school they started their own research projects. But soon Anima Factus became pretty megalomanic. His work became immoral and even misanthropic. Anima Factus himself got more and more arrogant and soon he wanted more then "just" let tissue of animals mutate or stuff like that. He wanted to actually create something. And he wanted to make his dream of beeing an alicorn coming true.</span> </p> <p> <span style="color:#525252;">Floating Matter however dissociated herself from Anima Factus and said she couldn't endure what he turned into any more. She continued her work and made great discoveries in the field of gravitation and other forces. When she was 21, her father died because of the radioactive substances he tried to investigate. Her mother, who wasn't verry interested in all this stuff anyway, wanted to leave this village and move somewhere else where she could get a little distance to all that. Floating Matter however didn't want to come with her since she felt that she belongs to this place.</span> </p> <p> <span style="color:#525252;">One evening Floating Matter experimented around with some flying devices to discover a few information about the air's flow behavior. The device flew a bit further than planned so she had to go and search for it. Then she was a strange orange stallion with an even stranger next to him. Some steam puffs came out of the device, and Floating Matter got curious about it. She walked towards the stranger and they started to talk. The stranger told Floating Matter that his vehicle was broken and that he had no idea what exactly the problem was. Since Floating Matter always tries to help ponies in need and this stranger somehow was pretty likeable for her, she offered him to stay at her house for as long as the repair would take.</span> </p> <p> <span style="color:#525252;">Later she wound out that the name of this stranger was Steampunk Gear and that he was traveling through equestria to make new experiences. Steampunk Gear was verry interested in the village and its inhabitants and soon felt like he belongs to this place. He and Floating Matter became verry good friends and finally even fall in love with each other. </span> </p> <p> <span style="color:#525252;">When Steampunk Gear met Anima Factus, he told him about his plans to create something great. It had always been a dream to fly, so he was happy when Anima Factus asked him if he could try to give him some wings, even though he knew that Anima Factus somehow just wanted to use him as a test subject. Floating Matter wasn't verry happy about that, but for Steampunk Gear it was the only way to let his dream come true, so he just took the risk. After the operation worked so well on Steamounk Gear, Anima Factus wanted to make his own dream come true and to give himself some wings. He succeeded and was verry proud, so he just flew higher and higher above the village celebrating his triumph over everypony who didn't believe in him and his plans. But the muscles of his wings weren't strong enough, so soon his left wing convulsed under the big strain causing him to fall, panicy waving around with his hooves before he crashed into some bushes and stopped moving.</span> </p> <p> After this incident Steampunk Gear was pretty carefull and build some mechanic struts to support his wings. He wanted to stay in the village, so Floating Matter helped him to integrate him into its society and to find his place there. Steampunk Gear told her alot about the places where he already has been and all the experiences he was able to make, and she got curious about these things, too. She wanted to explore that world together with him to find out more about the way it works. </p>
