Appearance: While on dry land Ligeia appears as a unicorn pony, her coat is filled up to the base of her neck with fish-scales. When she is in the water her back hooves and tail morph into two fish tails bearing the same scales as her normal appearance.

Cutie Mark: Her Cutie Mark is a purple note within a baby blue bubble shinning in the upper left. It symbolizes her majestic voice that can calm down anyone while the bubble associates with her affinity with the element of water.

Personality: Ligeia is timid and shy, often cowering when others attempt to talk her.<br /><br />She fears sharp needles, knives e.t.c. <br /><br />However she is extremely interested in other Aquatic creatures, and the water in general around which she becomes enthusiastic, exploring and having fun.<br /><br />She is also interested a lot in signing having a great musical ear often driven to singing when others play an instrument or sing.<br /><br />She becomes very attached and defensive to those that prove to be her friends always offering her aid if requested. However her ability to carry out the task depends on the balance between her loyalty and her fear.<br /><br />

Backstory: Ligeia was bred and educated in a tank, she was intended to exemplify some of the best traits of the unicorns and sea ponies being able to breathe underwater, practice magic and swim swiftly.<br /><br />The first thing she remembers was screaming... like a weak baby that had just been born. She turned and twisted inside the liquid of her tank looking for a motherly figure. Instead her pleas were answered by the scientists interacting with the tank that sought to train her. She cried out but the orders of the scientist grew persistent and she finally gave in and followed their orders.<br /><br />The scientists communicated with her via the tank attempting to imprint thoughts to her. Other times they would use controlled environments to conduct their experiments.<br /><br />Locked with tank she was taught to use her unicorn magic to change the flow of water, make big waves,ice and use whatever liquid around her to strike the targets she was commanded to. She felt no pleasure in doing so and her mind was resisting less and less each time she was pushed. <br /><br />She often cried out for release, but whether the scientists pitied her or not, none offered a helping hoof.<br /><br />Animals and other creatures of they sea were offered to her. With the guidance of the scientists she communed with them and in the faces she found the friends and family she never had. One day she started singing to them and discovered her song attracted the creatures of the sea, and enchanted them to the point of control over their minds so long as she had higher level of conciousness than them. Regardless her songs were beautifull and calmed both mind and soul. It was then that she earned her cutie mark.<br /><br />So long as she was in the lab she believed herself to be alone, without help, and nopony to save. That was... until her escape.
