• Lorec Krin

    Vae Victis
    • Age: 42

      Gender: Male

      Species: Non-Pony

Appearance: A Black colored Minotaur with dark, brownish- gold eyes and hair that is somewhat long and unkempt. He is considered a monster of a Minotaur, even among his breathren, standing a head and a half taller than most other minotaurs. As part of his warrior code, he never wears upper body armor. He does, however, cover his upper body with a tunic, and bandages his arms to hide the countless scars on his body. His physique is great, as his role as a member of the Divine Retribution Order demands it.

      Cutie Mark: None.

Personality: Often very reticent and barely ever speaks. He prefers the quiet of the forest to the hustle and bustle of major settlements. Lorec is not lazy. He is the kind off Minotaur to go hunt down hs food, skin it, build a fire on the spot, and then cook and eat it. Obviously he is very intimidating, and righteously so, given his stature. Even so, he is kind. However, he draws the line of respect based on pride. If one has too much pride, lorec would have nothing to do with them, as true pride to him, is silence about one's deeds. In battle, lorec prefers to fight with his fists. But of course, if he draws his greatsword, the rest of the D.R.O. Group knew what it meant.... It meant that whoever had pushed him to that limit, was dead. He often finds solace in communicating with viruden, the spirit of the ursa king trapped within his sword.
He refuses to hunt weak creatures.

Backstory: As a young Minotaur, Lorec would often go off Into the forest on his own, exploring and learning the ways of the wilderness. He was very reticent in speaking to others, preferring silence to banter, and action to cheap talk. He never really had any quarrels with others, but never really fit in too much with any singular group. He was generally accepted by all, but stayed away from social gatherings such as parties in order to venture out into the woodlands of Minotaur country. His parents often trusted him to take care of himself in the woods. It was a loving family, but one that understood that he would need to grow up in ways of his own. Lorec had always been interested in the golden horn Olympics, a brutal competition of Minotaur fighters across the land, but lacked the drive to become strong enough to compete.

As he became older, he started adventuring further into the woods. One day, when he was 14, he witnessed a horrifying sight: a dark silver panther had slaughtered and eaten an entire nest of unsuspecting birds. This lit a fuse in lorec. As a Minotaur, his strength was already great and was sizable. However, he was not a fighter. He challenged the panther with his bare hands, grappling with it. The panther left deep gashes in him, but he managed to escape by finding a nearby, fallen, and sharp tree limb and stabbing it in one of it's eyes. As he escaped, he thought about what he had seen. The fact that a strong panther had to hunt such weak prey was pathetic to him. He vowed to become strong, to hunt the panther when he was ready, and protect the weak.

Time passed. Inspired by the panther's actions, he had trained his body to the pinnacle of prefection, even for a Minotaur. His father had overseen his training ever since he had recovered from his wounds. 12 years had passed. He was now 26 at the time. His training had consisted of scaling ravines, traveling with heavy boulders tied to him with rope, weighted swimming, and a slew of near-suicidal exercises. This, combined with an unprecedented growth spurt, he was truly a monster to behold. After he had finished his training, he tracked that panther from so long ago, only to find that it was old and dying. Seeing that it was game unworthy to hunt, he left that panther there in its den, never to return.

Frustrated that that he had worked for nothing, he needed a way to test his newfound strength. He found the perfect choice in the golden horn games. The prize that was being offered was an ancient greatsword, said to contain great power. Lorec entered the competition, fought and beat down every opponent without hesitation, and claimed the sword through blood and sweat. When the sword was given to him, he carried it home, and hung it from it's scabbard in his room. He felt a presence in his room for a long time.

One day, he decided to hunt and bring the sword with him, as a lion had been terrorizing his village. The lion proved a great challenge and overwhelmed sirok. The sword began to pulsate and called his name. It told him to draw the sword. He did so, and continued to fight the lion. When he saw an opening, he took the chance and swung at the lion... And the lion was nearly cleaved in half.

He questioned the voice of the sword. As it had turned out, the rumors had been true. There was an ancient force in the sword. This ethereal being appeared to lorec in his mind in the form of a great ursa. It claimed to be an ursa king and held away over the element of earth. The ursa king, viruden, commended lorec on the kill, and he was this deemed worthy to tap into the sword's true potential. However, he rarely ever did, relying usually upon his bare hands, which impressed the spirit of the ursa king even more.

Even more time had passed. Lorec had caught wind of war in the griffon empire, and decided to enter in as a mercenary for the royalist forces, as he had judged them to be the most noble of both sides. He was to be put on the front line assualt of the city of Feyrien, the final rebel city. He fought alongside a griffon who wielded flame as if it were his own, a cryomancer unicorn who seemed to be one with the cold, and a Pegasus that wind seemed to favor and carry. With his mighty strength and power over the earth element, he raised great mounds of land to bypass the city walls. Of course, this is where his part in the fight ended, as such a great moving of earth takes a major toll on the body. When he had heard that the griffon tyrant Gorven was apprehended, he rejoiced, collected his payment, and began to explore foreign lands.

Two years later, he ended up in equestria. An invitation had found a way to him from canterlot, from the griffon embassy. There, he had found his former comrades waiting for him. The griffon, kazas, explained his findings of the ancient spiritual beings along with many legends, saying that it was their destiny that they had fought together in the battlefield to destroy an evil cause. The griffon had proposed that since the spirits were regarded as divine in legends and that they were the inheritors of their might, that they should become an elite fighting group that corrected anomalies of corruption, magical or physical, to help protect the world. Retribution against evil, he called it. At viruden's behest, lorec accepted, and became the powerhouse of the Divine Retribution Order.
