Appearance: Tall and wiry body, gray coat and black hair. Wears glasses when reading or inspecting things closely. Fairly nondescript.

Cutie Mark: A scroll. He is an expert in history, mythology, and magical artifacts.

Personality: Very curious and always hungry for knowledge, especially when it pertains to magical artifacts and the like. Very brave, despite being fairly weak physically. Extremely intelligent and loves to solve puzzles.

Backstory: A scholar, explorer, and author who specializes in mythology/archaeology and magic objects. He has a doctorate in archaeology from Pranceton University. Grew up in Ponyville, where he still lives when he's not exploring or conducting research in the field.<br /><br />Several years ago his fiance, Birdsong, was murdered by a griffon named Raptor while he was away conducting research. He has always blamed himself for not being there to protect her and it haunts him to this day. Largely because of this, he has a very strong urge to protect and take care of those around him.
