• + Pluse -

    Mephala

    • Age: ~15-23 (varies)

      Gender: Female

      Species: Non-Pony

Appearance: Pluse may appear odd at first glance, but upon further inspection will prove even more strange. Her coat is thicker than that of regular ponies, more like shaggy fur, and it is a soft grey-yellow colour. Her mane is usually swept up ion a high ponytail kept in place by a pink butterfly pin at its base. Her mane has bright blue and yellow streaks, with a single deep pink-red stripe in it. The same is of her tail, though it is not kept tied back.
Pluse is carnivorous, and has fangs instead of regular teeth. In addition, instead of hooves, she has paw-like appendages and claws.
Her most strange feature, however, is her eyes. They are completely blank white ovals save for a black plus sign in her right eye and a minus sign in her left. She has very thick lashes.
On her ears, she has tufts along the outer sides. (reference in the "Other" section). They are slightly darker than her fur tone.
She has a brand behind her inner right leg.
Besides this, she looks like a regular pony. Her body shape and size is the same.

Cutie Mark: Her cutie mark is a black postive-negative sign (link to a picture of it in the "Other" section) crossed with two lightning bolts Ithe one on the left is yellow, the one on the right is blue; they are the same colour as the stripes of her mane.)
Golden sparks surround the rest of the cutie mark.

Personality: Pluse is clearly not like other ponies, and due to her carnivorous nature is oftentimes shunned by others. She prefers to remain unnoticed, lurking in alleys and dark corners. However, she is not soft-spoken, and will speak her mind and opinion regardless of feelings. She is slow to trust and careful, planning her next moves rather than allowing her passions to take her over. However, sshe has a bit of a temper, and can be very reactive if provoked, often resulting in grievous or fatal injuries.
Pluse gets along better with non-ponies and will bond with them faster, particularly well with half-ponies like herself.
She hates water and avoids it at all costs, and she can be weakened if exposed to large amounts of it. She can also be weakened by the cold, making her prone to do poorly with ice magic. Besides this, she is highly adaptable to all environments.

Backstory: Pluse doesn't know whether she was born in a lab or not; all she knows is that one day she woke up and there she was, surrounded by scientists. If she had a life before, she never knew of it; parents, friends, she would have forgotten all of it. All she knew was the tests.

In truth, Pluse was a genetically bred pony, the first of her kind. Inspired by the avia, mythical half-bird half-ponies, scientists created the first carnivorous pony in a lab. By a compliacted method they managed to alter DNA and eventually "grow" Pluse, who was merely called by her brand: "242".

242 was exposed to many different environments and was forced to adapt to each. While she displayed aptitude in most, it was discovered that she had an inherent fear of water and ice. As a result, rather than the usual beatings that they gave her to punish her poor behaviour, the scientists would force her underwater until she lost consciousness, then shocking her back into waking. However, the third time they did this, she somehow managed to reverse the flow of the current, shocking her tormentors instead. They reasoned her fear of these elements came from her apparent aptitude for electricity. While she could do no magic with it like unicorns, she is able to manipulate existing currents. She is also able to absorb it into her body and release it later.

When the government learned of 242's existence, they demanded that she be trained to be a spy. Her natural predatory stealth and above-average senses would make her an excellent spy on other nations. New tests were introduced to increase her speed, strength, and general abilities. While she did improve in all her categories, those working on her reported feeling uncomfortable in her presence, as though she would attack them any moment.

And that day came; while several ponies conducted an examination on her intelligence, she "accidentally" knocked a glass of their water onto a machine. As they went to clean up the mess she manipulated its electricity to shock all of them. After disposing of the guards with her claws and fangs, she managed to squeeze into a garbage chute that a janitor was opening and escape through the dump.

Enraged, the government began to send operatives after her, but what they had beaten into her made her hard to find; she utilized all the skills that they had taught her against them. However, reports of a creature that had attacked and killed a child reached them, they tracked her down.

Ridden with guilt at having attacked the foal out of hunger, Pluse fled the scene, but it began to rain and she was forced to take shelter. The government found her and she was taken away to a new facility, this one of higher security.

In here she met an avia they had captured in Decarth, who only knew herself as "343". The pair hatched a daring plan to escape their prison. Though it took them near a year, they managed to befriend a kind guard, who helped them get the materials they needed to get out and survive. The guard was discovered and 343, having developed feelings for him, assisted him in escaping, leaving 242 miserable and alone, having been deserted by her only friend.

This time she was much more careful, keeping out of towns and cities, staying in forests and small villages. When a family found her after she had fallen into a river they took her in to their small cottage and nursed her to health. Living so rurally they were used to odd creatures and were nonplussed by her and her carnivorous tendencies. They took to calling her "Pluse", since that was how their young child pronounced "plus".

One day, when playing with their young daughter, Pluse lost control and killed her accidentally, repeating her past mistake. The family, wracked with grief, kicked her out, leaving her again with no home.

Depressed, Pluse planned to take her own life, but in the end realized that that would solve nothing. This was who she was, and she could not change thatHardened by her past experiences, she pushed on living, stealing, killing, and generally doing what she must to survive. She moves from home to home, going wherever she must, avoiding authorities.
