Appearance: Topaz is a rather slender young colt with a dull orange coat and mangy black mane and tail, and teal eyes. He wears a dark blue hoodie and a beige knapsack.
Cutie Mark: His cutie mark is a single gleaming coin with a silhouetted knife hiding behind it. It represents his attention to value and his special talent of stealth.
Personality: Topaz is a bit of a daredevil, who will go to quite extreme lengths to get what he wants. If he finds something shiny, and a lot of it, he'll go for it. He has a bit of a problem with greed, wanting to pilfer every valuable he comes close to. And more often than not, he succeeds.

He's very confident in public, and can be a convincing crowd speaker. Many scams he pulls have been successes, since he's far away by the time anypony realises they've been had.

He is rather proud of his abilities, which can make him rather cocky at times. It often leads to him nearly getting arrested, of course.
He also, strangely, has a sense of justice, and will not tolerate ponies being bullied.

He believes that cheating is only illegal if you get caught.
Backstory: Born and raised dirt-poor in the slums of Manehattan, Topaz quickly developed skills like pickpocketing and lockpicking to help get by for himself and his family. He began as a small petty thief, taking a few bits and small jewels from ponies' pockets. As he got better and better, he moved up to scams and break-ins. And he only got better and better.

He didn't care who he took from, as long as could take.

That was, until he came across a more run-down house that he had been commissioned to take a family heirloom from. Seeing the unfortunate family struggling to get by left him feeling sympathetic, considering he was the same way as a foal. He cancelled the job, and refused to take anything from poorer ponies from then on.

Though, cancelling that job may have gotten him some enemies.

Since that day, he has become a bit of a real-life Robin Hoof, sharing the wealth he has pilfered from richer ponies with the unfortunate and underpaid.
