Wind Chaser

    • Age: 17

      Gender: Female

      Species: Unicorn

Appearance: Young mare with a curly, tied-back mane and a short, curvy tail. Often seen wearing a combination of a vest, tie, dress shirt, and boots.

Cutie Mark: A sewing needle with the tip of a pen drawing a spiral, symbolizing well-roundedness and creative prowess.

Personality: VI was once shy, but gained the strength and confidence to save her family business. She normally displays a positive, curious attitude, but also shows a feisty, energetic, and pushy side. She is creative and will try to sell anything as long as it doesn't compromise her values of honesty and make her come off as greedy.

Backstory: Vested Interest was born to a working-class family which owned a convenience store on Stallion Island. Wind Chaser and his family frequented the store and he had made a friend in Vested Interest at a young age.

She lived a relatively normal life as a filly. Vesty was, to a fault, introverted when she was younger and needed some prodding to engage with others. Upon discovering her natural talents in the arts at school, she honed them mostly in the seclusion of her own room and downplayed them when she was among others, instead playing up her interests in sports to compensate. She was unsure of how others would react to her work. In sports, she couldn't argue with the reality that the facts were the judge more than ponies' opinions.

However, by age 14, her family scrambled to take care of her grandmothers on both her mother's and father's side, the former of whom lived on the edge of Ponyville and the latter in the suburban town of Marelington, as they had both fallen victim to various serious illnesses at different times. The frequent trips and costs of medical care, as well as the rules of economics and competition, took its toll on the family business and forced it on the brink of closure.

The experiences of having to frequently travel back and forth between her home and the homes of her grandmothers while witnessing the struggles her family had to put up with strengthened her resolve to speak up and take chances, and she believed that her idea for a business could help the family cover the costs of their trips and at least some of their medical expenses. By 15, she had proposed her idea to go into business making and selling locally-made accessories. She had successfully convinced her family to let her start up the business on her own, using their space on Stallion Island and their trips to Marelington and Ponyville to help her along.

By 15, she had proven that she could use her own talents to her family's benefit, and was helping to pay off her family's trips, as well as some of the losses from the convenience store. Her abilities as a salespony had brought to attention some local clothing vendors from the blue-collar neighborhoods surrounding Manehattan.

When she's not at work on her business, she's busy trying to write screenplays for movies that she hopes will transcend generations. She hopes to do it professionally one day, after she's done getting her family out of debt.

I like the unique and unorthodox idea of the cutie mark. A needle with a pen tip? Great thinking outside the box! =D

Thanks, that reflects on her being both a designer and a writer, but there's nothing she likes more than writing down those profits! XD
