Did Discord create Sombra, Chrysalis, and...Pinkie Pie? Lotsa reading!

Discord represents chaos; a lack of harmony. In the season 2 premier, “The return of Harmony”, Celestia mentions that before she and Luna found the elements of harmony and stood up to him, Discord ruled over Equestria in an eternal state of unrest and unhappiness.

 

When Celestia realized that the transformed elements that she locked up in Canterlot tower were missing, when she goes to give them to the Mane 6, she shows surprise and states that the doors were locked by a powerful spell that only she, herself could break. Meaning that Discord surpasses Celestia- an alicorn princess- in terms of power.

 

As Discord starts talking to the Mane 6, it becomes clear that he knows of them, and the elements that they represent; along with their strengths and weaknesses; which would imply that in spite of having been turned to stone long before the Mane 6 even entered the scene, he's had a way of knowing and keeping an eye on the events that happened through Equestria, even during his imprisonment. He couldn't have known who the Mane 6 were, and the elements they represented, if he had learned of them only after breaking free, since the mane 6 hadn't used their elements in the span of time it took for Discord to free himself and the 6 to travel to Canterlot to meet up with Celestia.

 

Now, in order for Discord to know all of that during his imprisonment 1000 years ago, he would've had to had abilities that would allow him to see the future; learning of his imprisonment by the royal sisters, and of the bearers of the elements of harmony- the Mane 6, after they came along and changed the elements into new forms that corresponded with their own qualities. Again, in “The return of Harmony”, Discord is shown multiple times s being able to manipulate ponies to his whim, ans also, being capable of seeing future events before they unfold, because he shows Apple Jack a vision of her and her friends falling out- which actually does happen as the episode progresses. He's a master manipulator that controls and leads ponies to the future he's able to forsee.

 

I'd imagine that, given these abilities, Discord- the embodiment of chaos and disharmony- would still want to play a part in wreaking havoc across Equestria even during the time he'd be imprisoned; as well as manipulating others to assist with his release from imprisonment, when the time came. So in order for that to happen, he would've had place other chess pieces on the board; creating incarnations of himself to keep an eye on surrounding situations and carry out his bidding. (though it's possible that once split from Discord, these detachments became sentient and might not have truly lived up to their purposes or betrayed him as time went on)

 

What incarnations would've stemmed from Discord, you all might be wondering?

 

I'd assume anything evil that would've had to be put back in its place by Twilight and Friends with the elements of harmony; allowing for Discord to have learned all about them during his time in stone. So likely, the nightmare forces that controlled princess Luna (as Discord's payback to not only get to Luna and manipulate her, after she assisted in turning him to stone, but also to strike against Celestia, using her sister, afterward, resulting in a victory for him).

 

Sombra; too, perhaps, specifically to take over the Crystal Empire and curse it, when before being banished by the royal sisters, since Discord would've known that said empire is filled with hope and love, which is reflected across all of Equestria- and that would be the last thing Discord would've wanted getting in his way as he was reigning. And perhaps he feared that the EoH could be activated with the townsponies powers (even with the ToH out of commission from the Plunder seeds he thought would choke the tree off)

 

Queen Chrysalis, too, can be considered spawned from Discord. As a Changeling, she and her minions are able to feed off of the love ponies have for each other- robbing them of it, and growing stronger in the process. He could've fashioned a changeling that would grow to be Queen and lead an army that would sap every pony in Equestria of that power within them.

This leads me to believe that Pinkie just may in fact be that original changeling (or at least one who fell out of Queen Chrysalis' hoard)

 

Pinkie is the only one of the Mane 6 who seems opposed to the idea of stopping Discord; saying that “eternal chaos comes with chocolate rain!” Discord also states that Pinkie Pie's element, the element of laughter, is a personal favorite of his- implying that there's a slightly stronger connection between him and Pinkie, than the rest of the Mane 6.

 

Pinkie is a changeling- a manifestation of Discord.

 

Now, you might be thinking I'm crazy, but let's look at Pinkie for a second. She has a lot of abilities that seem to defy logic and that many pass off as cartoon gags specifically for Pinkie's character. For instance- her “Pinkie Sense”; an ability that allows her to forsee the events that'll occur in the near future- much like Discord has the ability to. Though Twilight has attempted to make sense of this ability, because it “doesn't make any sense”, she finds that she's unable to. (because as Discord once said “what fun is there in making sense?”)

 

Another ability is her knowledge and insight on the world around her- she was the only one who knew what a Parasprite was, when they first showed up; ad exactly how to get rid of them.

 

She has the ability to levitate, ice skates on her head, switches tails with the a picture as she's playing pin the tail on the pony, she inflates like a balloon, exists in a mirror, when Twilight's about to break a Pinkie promise, is able to keep up with Rainbow Dash and forsee the location's where she'd try to hide from her; to be able to meet here there; physically being able to bring things out of her imagination into the real world (the check mark in “A Friend in Deed”), she can also blow into her hoof and give herself fingers, or completely reshape the structure of her face (as seen in “Too Many Pinkie Pies”) to that of a G3 pony, and can casually break the 4^th wall, as well as have knowledge about alternate dimensions and what goes on in them (as in EQG (to which Pinkie also responds, when talking to Twilight – who asks if she's psycic; “not usually”, meaning Pinkie can; on occasion posses psychic abilities).

 

Many of these “chaotic” abilities that Pinkie has seem like abilities that the God of Chaos, himself, can perform, and more.

 

Also, Pinkie, like Discord, has shown that having fun is more important than understanding what others want (see- “Too Many Pinkie Pies”)

 

All this evidence leads me to believe that she is, in fact, related to Discord. Now returning to the theory I briefly touched on earlier about Discord creating chaotic manifestations of himself to terrorize while he was imprisoned- back to the Changelings. (and why Pinkie is one of them)

 

Pinkie's shape-shifting abilities that her clones demonstrated in “Too Many Pinkie Pies” would suggest that she, too, has such abilities- being...well...Pinkie Pie- and why wouldn't she, if she was spawned from Discord, the god of chaos? When confronted by the hoard that attacked Canterlot in “A Canterlot Wedding pt 2”, Pinkie seems unimpressed when one of the changelings in the army changes into her. Pinkie replies with “Eh. I've seen better”, because likely she, herself, has performed better transformations as a Changeling.

 

There's also the fact of Pinkie's entire character- how she goes to extreme lengths to make her friends smile and keep them happy would suggest that she's one of them. Holding her friends' happiness in such high regard (throwing parties to make everyone smile; befriending everypony and knowing everything about them, to being so depressed when she thinks that her friends don't want to be her friends anymore, in “Party of One”; as well as holding “Pinkie Promises” in such high regard, not because she values the promise itself, but because she believes that breaking promises is the fastest way to lose a friend- and to lose the love that they have for her) All these examples would be key for her to generate love from everyone in Ponyville and feed off of the love of friendship that she brings about in other ponies from making them smile; much like how the Changelings feed off of love, all the while growing stronger from it; and also have the ability to alter their appearances.

 

If love and friendship were gone in Equestria, then chaos would eventually reign, again, in Discord's imprisonment, which would either lead to his freedom or maybe the creation of yet another Draqonequis to lead the chaos in his favor.

 

(as for why Pinkie- a possible Changeling born as the embodiment of laughter (a trait from Discord, who creates chaos for his own amusement), wound up on a Rock farm, could be because she stumbled upon it, shapeshifted to appear more like a normal pony (only pink, since Discord, himself, is an oddity, it would also show in her) and was taken in by the family; calling them her own kin; and figured that staying there would help further her knowledge of rocks, which could lead to freeing Discord from stone; but could've forgotten her element and purpose the longer she worked there; as it wasn't an environment she (re)discovered the joy and laughter that came from when filly Rainbow Dash performed the sonic rainboom.)

Hm, that's an interesting wild theory. Though I think you're overlooking two things that could explain how Discord was aware of the Mane 6 before his encounter with them. First, Discord revealed that he is still aware of what goes on around him when turned to stone (Keep Calm and Flutter On). He could have heard someponies discussing the Mane 6 while they walked through the sculpture garden or he may have been able to extend his awareness while still turned to stone.

 

Second, Discord had plenty of time to learn about the Mane 6 after he was released. Celestia needed to find out that Discord was free and send for the Mane 6 who needed time to travel to Canterlot. The time to travel to Canterlot has been a bit fluid, but I think it's fair to say that it takes somewhere between a day and a couple hours. With that much time Discord could have caught up on current events and probably would have tried to find out where the Elements of Harmony were since they were what turned him to stone.

 

The propsed link between Discord and the other villains is also fairly weak. Sombra and Chrysalis are tyrants. They seem to work through control and organization, the last things that Discord has any interest in. He certainly could have created them on a whim, but they could just as easily have their own origins.

 

When it comes to Pinkie Pie, I think more along the lines of a Greater Chaos theory: Chaos is a power source from which individuals can draw. Discord, as a spirit of chaos, has great access to this power and can use it to alter himself and the world around him fairly easily. Pinkie Pie has some innate ability to access Chaos at a lesser extent, allowing her to pull off all the crazy cartoony stunts she performs. So Pinkie Pie and Discord draw from the same source of power, but aren't directly related to each other. The changelings' ability to change forms could be a type of access to Chaos or it could have its own seperate source like other magic.
