My Little Pony and the Last Unicorn similarities?

I just got done watching "The Last Unicorn" and through the movie, I couldn't help but start noticing some strange similarities in that that could've closely resembled things in MLP. I noticed that the unicorn's forehead marking looked pretty similar to Twilight Sparkle's cutie mark  6 pointed star; and I also started seeing the unicorn and the wizard's relationship as being similar to Celestia and Starswirl the bearded's- since Celly os one of the two last of her kind, and unlike Luna, according to the comics, she spent most time with the powerful wizard and was much closer friends with him, much like the last unicorn and the wizard in the movie.

 

Has anyone seen other similarities between The Last Unicorn and My Little Pony, whether in Gen 4 or in past generations?

I think I see one other similarity. King Haggard and King Sombra are both dark kings who were defeated by the unicorn. Though I don't know, just something I see as similar

The wizard in The Last Unicorn could be similar to Starswirl The Bearded, because of their relationship with the unicorn, similar to Celestia and Starswirl.
