It was a lovely day in Ponyville. Melody was taking a nice slow stroll through town eying everything around her. She saw some birds flying high above her and land in a tree nearby. She continued to walk through the streets.

A young blonde filly sat on a bench, crying. She had just been teased by other fillies, and heart was already hurt as is. "Why won't anypony help me?..." She sobbed. Life for her was hard, with no family, nor friends. She jumped off the bench, and took off running, until she ran into melody breeze's legs

Melody was walking and turned. She saw the little filly crying. "Awwww....poor thing..." She said as she walked over to the little filly and went to sit by her. "I...it's okay...I'm here with you now..." Melody said as she picked up the little filly and put her on her lap, beginning to stroke her fur.

Sniffling, the filly wiped her eyes. "Th-thank you... For being so kind." She mumbled. She looked up to melody, her eyes red from crying. "Who are you?" Squirming, she was nervous and scared of this pony, afraid that she would just forget about her as soon as she noticed her.

"I'm Melody Breeze..." Melody said as she continued to stroke the little filly's fur lovingly. "What's your name?" She asked.

"...Miku. Miku Vocal." Miku was unsure about saying her name, but it was the least she could do. "I-I should get going now. Thanks again...." Miku squimed out of Melody's grasp. Although she didn't want to leave melody and kindness she gave her, Miku didn't want to be a burden.

"Miku...that's an interesting name..." Melody stated before she felt the little filly trying to leave. "A but...where are you going? Do you have any place to stay?" Melody asked as she still held Miku gently, feeling as she squirmed in her hold. "It's why I came to see you because you were crying? Were you...left alone... abandoned?" Melody asked.

Miku felt her face start to get wet. Before she knew it, she was sobbing again. "Yes! My mommy and daddy left me one day and never came back!!!" She buried her face in Melody's shoulder, crying all the while. Miku's heart never felt so empty before. "I just want to go to sleep and never wake up again!"

"What I'm trying to say is...I can be your mother..." Melody stated continuing to stroke the little filly.

 

Miku was stunned. She didn't lift her head, but her crying had quieted down to a soft whimper. As soon as she stopped crying altogether, she lifted her head and nodded. "Okay..." She whispered. Wiping her face, she hugged Melody tighly. "Thank you... I'm so.. So happy..."

Melody hugged Miku. "It's...what I try to do everyday..." Melody stated as she carried the little foal to the park. "Want to...go to the park and play for a little while?" Melody asked Miku as she continued to walk, carrying the little Miku and hugging her lovingly.

Miku's stomach growled, and she blushed. " Can we get something to eat...mama?" It was hard for her to say that, since she was still attached to her real parents, but she tried to get used to it. After all, she has somepony who actually cares about her, something she hasn't had in a while.

"Sure! Where do you...want to go?" Melody asked as she changed her directions and started to head over to Sugarcube Corner. "We can go to Sugarcube Corner for some sweets, or if you want real food, there's a cafe not to far from here...your choice..." Melody stated.

"Sure! Where do you...want to go?" Melody asked as she changed her directions and started to head over to Sugarcube Corner. "We can go to Sugarcube Corner for some sweets, or if you want real food, there's a cafe not to far from here...your choice..." Melody stated.

 

Miku thought about it for a minute, then said, "Let's go to the cafe. I don't think I can eat sweets right now." She showed Melody her stomach, which was shrunken, showed her ribs a bit. "I haven't eaten in a while." Miku sighed. "It will be good to get some food in my stomach."

"Poor thing...I'm gonna order you twice as much stuff..." Melody stated as she walked towards the cafe. "Have you ever tried a...hayburger before? It's really good and...the foal meals they serve here come with them, plus a side of hayfries and a choice of apple fritters..." Melody stated.

Miku's ears perked up. "Apple fritters? Oh, I've always DREAMED of eating an apple fritter! I've never ate them before. They didn't sell them in my old town." Her eyes sparkled, as if her one dream had come true. She licked her lips. "I can't wait!" She squeaked, twitching with excitement.

"Well then...I guess that's what you'll get." Melody said hugging the little foal and letting out a giggle. She then lit her horn and made the wind sing a tune. This attracted a nearby bird, which landed right on Miku. It then chirped a continuation of the exact tune that Melody played from her horn.

Miku giggled. "That's so cool! I wish could do that." Miku then started to hum along with the tune, looking better than she did just a few minutes ago. Miku was starting to look like her old self. She then quieted down, going deep into thought. 'Everypony thought I was perfect. If that's so...'

"Wow! That sounded beautiful!" Melody said as the bird continued to perch on Miku's back. She then lit her horn and made the wind sing another tune. This attracted a second bird and the two birds continued to hum the tune as Melody walked towards the cafe. They were only about two blocks away from it.

Deeply immersed in her thoughts, Miku hardly her Melody. 'Everypony...they wanted to adopt me...and I kept saying no...why? Was I that attached to my old mom and dad? I wonder where they are..and if they're happy...' Miku frowned. 'Do they even know how pain they've caused me? Ive been on the streets, cold and lonely, searching for them... They didn't even say goodbye!!' Miku curled into a ball, trying to control her anger.

Melody read Miku's mind. She stopped. "Wh...why are you angry?" She asked. The birds flew away and Melody just stood there while she waited for Miku to answer. She knew that something was troubling her, but she didn't know what it was. No matter what she would give all the love she could to her.

Miku sighed. "Its just... I want to know why they would leave... Without a goodbye. Everypony always loved me, why didn't my parents?..." Her voice had gotten shakey, so she stopped before she started crying. Miku took a deep breath, and continued. "I just want to see them. To know the truth..."

"Miku...life...can be unpredictable and...sometimes...you don't know. I know it's sad, because I went through the same thing at school. When I went to school when I was a filly...I thought people would like me...but no...they hated me because I had "no talent". It came to the point...where...I wanted to run away...and that's exactly what I did...I ran...in to the Everfree Forest...and...bumped into this zebra named Zecora who...told me that everypony has a talent and it takes longer for some to discover it..." Melody explained.

"We sure are." Melody stated as she hugged Miku as she continued to walk. She then started to hum a tune a softly as she arrived at the door to the cafe. She found a seat and a waiter came up to them. "What would you two like today?" She asked. "You can order first. Remember what I said that this restaurant has?" Melody asked.
