Should Tirek have had the same back story as in G1?

They pretty much had to change his backstory in G4 or he would have basically been like another Nightmare Moon. His goal was to bring in the "night that never ends" with the "rainbow of darkness" which were both major influences for Nightmare Moon. The killing of the queen of ponies could have worked but would have had to be altered to a different kingdom because you know they are not going to kill off Celestia or Luna. What I found interesting though was how they basically gave G4 Tirek abilities similar to Lavan except arguably even more dangerous. It does make me curious as to what a G4 take on Grogar would be like.

That could've been the reason for his banishment though. Luna and Celestia banishes Tirek, but keeps the title of Princess out of respect for Majesty!

I suppose it might explain why we haven't seen any parent for Luna and Celestia revealed, they seem so squeamish about death in this particular generation though. I still can't get over the fact that G1 Tirek threatened to decapitate Spike twice.

But wouldn't AU Sombra have done the same? No, I think the TV universe Sombra will return, but now a good guy! ( being as AU Sombra went evil)

I'd prefer to not remember the AU Sombra even existed. You know my opinion on him. And even if Sombra didn't die, he exploded into a million pieces, his consciousness is vaporized and he won't pull himself back together

The G1 Tirek didn't have a backstory to begin with, he was just there to be the Satanic archetype. And he was awesome.

I liked the G4 backstory, but it was kind of lazy. Scorpan and Tirek having a brother-like relationship? interesting... But, this is a high point that should have been used on Twilight's Kingdom. It wasn't exploited enough. At least for me.
