TheMarkz0ne 962 August 19, 2014 Share August 19, 2014 (edited) I know I am talented in the arts to some degree. I gave up on physical animation and artwork in 2010 when I clearly could not muster the technical skill to make anything good. I am not a 9am to 5pm white collar person. I want to share my creativity, I don't even care about the credit and glory of success. Just get me with people and give me a small something. I am heavily influenced on video games and adventure themed movies. My inspirations might not be unique, but my issue is I keep my ideas in my mind and never lay them out. I hear that was an issue for F Scott Fitzgerald, he could never put his ideas on paper properly.. Yet he is in the same league as Hemingway. I really try to be original and that's probably why I fail. I want to share and I guess why I never write my imagination is because there's no one to bounce off the material to and make others happy. Finance is required to back these projects up, but not a lot of it. I just want to entertain the best I can and that's that. There's just so much cold, stoic and heartless tactics in the film industry and you can clearly tell as soon as you walk into a theater. I don't even like reading fiction, because novels sell to age demographics and have no journey to them. Fiction today is not like it was during the early 20th century. But I have no one. These past 7 years has just been me, my media entertainment and the ideas brewing in my mind. I feel alone and my ideas are dark and morbid. My ideas as a child reflected Star Wars 1977, meaning they were heart filled and has a positive nature. People on the forum know my cynical attitude. But I can't help it. It's just how things have played out for me. As a child, I was happy, even during hard times. Entering into my teens things got darker and I see how cold this world really is. Wind Chaser 4,768 August 19, 2014 Share August 19, 2014 I know how you feel about this. I'm in the same spot time after time. For the time being, find a way to organize your ideas. Every time I get an idea, I put it down into a shorter format (like an outline) to expand upon later. You never know when these ideas might hit you. (With my luck, I've unfortunately gotten many ideas when I was miles away from my computer.) It's true, the business dealings in the entertainment industry are very shady these days. Big Media conglomerates have a Mafia/cartel-like control over the industry and not much has been done to reign in their excessive power. However, the best armament against this is knowledge. Know your rights and know how to have full control over your properties. Do your best to protect your work. Know how to avoid selling yourself out. I've done years of research. If you're worried you won't be able to make a profit off of it, I have to go on the advice not to put all your eggs in one basket. Back yourself up with another career choice in the off chance things don't go as planned. As for finding an audience...you're on this forum, aren't you? Here's a good start. Make some more friends on here. Use PMs to exchange ideas and collaborate. If you plan on working outside of the MLP fandom as well, DeviantArt is a good place to go. You're never really going to get anywhere unless you find support, and you're in the right place for it. I've joined many different sites and bounced ideas off of others here and on dA, and as a result, I've gotten the confidence to continue developing my own stuff. The best way to avoid failure is to look for success.
