How does the search function work?

I mean if I put

 

season 3

 

into the box it tells me that 3 is too short a word to add to the search

 

If I use inverted commas and put

 

"season 3"

 

into the box, I get results but not in any apparently logical order, since the season 3 rumour thread, which has season 3 in its title, is not on the first page of results

 

OK, I used Google to find the thread and it was down as "season three" so I see that our search function doesn't convert a 3 into a three. No problem

 

Just noticed I can't delete this tho

The search function indexes our content as-is (e.g.: it will never "convert" words to others, so "3" =/= "three"). It is also set to only index words three or more characters in length. This is to help keep the size of the index down and avoid unnecessarily clogging the server's CPU's when you stick an "a" into your search query and it searches every single post for one little letter.

 

Non-moderators do not have permission to delete their posts. If you have a legitimate reason to delete something, report it and explain in the report why we should remove it.
