FancyHorse 1,209 September 22, 2014 Share September 22, 2014 So just doing a little bit of thinking and usual bits. Throwing around a few ideas and inquiries, this one spring to mind. So image you will in the fan fiction My Little Dashie : As most of us know it's set in our reality about a man who finds Rainbow Dash and raises her until she is grown. Now imagine say tweaking the story a bit that society is toleratent of a rainbow colored talking pegasus. Now we interject more reality, considering that Hasbro has copyrighted the characters of My Little Pony, would that mean that they could physically take custody of Rainbow Dash? 2 Do stick around Darling, I could use the company~
Untitled Goose Q 5,137 September 22, 2014 Share September 22, 2014 Doubtful. They have the fictional character copyrighted, not a living being. 4 On 4/22/2016 at 6:16 PM, The Nightly Spectre said: One does not ask why The Questioner is awesome. One should instead ask their gods if they ever compare to the awesomeness of the one and only Questioner.
Mand'alor Dash 2,224 September 22, 2014 Share September 22, 2014 This is Indiana Jones. His name, appearance, mannerisms, image, and movies are all copyrighted. The image you see above *IS* copyrighted. And this is Harrison Ford, the actor who played Jones in the three movies, the crappy fanfic where he met E.T. in the 50s, and the Indy picture posted above. As a person, he and his image are not copyrighted, even if particular images of him are. This insanely large picture is yet another of Harrison Ford, but this time of him as he appeared in Blade Runner. This picture, and the character he portrays, are also copyrighted, but by a different company. Paramount Entertainment may own "Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones," but Warner Brothers owns "Harrison Ford as Rick Deckard," and similarly, Disney owns "Harrison Ford as Han Solo." These are three copyrighted characters with the same face and same voice, owned by three different companies and portrayed by one man owned by nobody. Here's a different example. This is Ray Charles. A man whose music is copyrighted to hell and back. And this is also Ray Charles, just not the same one. That would be the character of Ray Charles as (splendidly) portrayed by Jamie Foxx. The movie Ray is copyrighted. Jamie Foxx's portrayal of Ray Charles is copyrighted, but Ray Charles the man is not copyrighted. This is Abraham Lincoln, as portrayed in the obviously fictional novelty film Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. It's a copyrighted picture from a copyrighted movie portraying the copyrighted fictional scenario where he's fighting for his life against an obviously CG vampire. The studio owns the version of Abraham Lincoln which hunts vampires, but they do not own Abraham Lincoln. Now let's bring it home. In this clip, Rainbow Dash is voiced by Ms. Ashleigh Ball, which is copyrighted audio. She is animated by DHX (copyrighted), based on a copyrighted character design by Lauren Faust. The laugh was written into a copyrighted script, and aired in a copyrighted episode on television. All the vectors and lines and voice clips that make up the likeness of what we perceive as Rainbow Dash? Totally copyrighted. But if, outside the realm of overrated, shitty fanfiction, she were somehow to become real, then they could not own her physically. They may own the depiction of her, and, depending on the truth of the matter, the version of her which controls the weather in Ponyville, but not the real deal. 3 Amoral cynic with a bitchin' vocabulary. Check out A Century of Song if you like music from before this millennium. Sig by ~Cider Barrel~ (design), Skaren (left vector), and ~Rhodarein (right vector). Avatar by ~Scootaloo (design) and Skaren (vector).

GenderIsAnIllusion 2,177 September 22, 2014 Share September 22, 2014 If a fictional character just so happens to appear, in full technicolor, assuming that she Wouldent be taken for study and directed, no they could not take custody of her, due to the fact that's she is sentient and aware like humans are, and most likely be granted the same rights as us im america.
