Mares' discrimination in Equestria

TheElementofSolitude

Recommended Posts

Nobody still answered me about two pictures I showed, about STALLIONS pulling the train and STALLIONS pulling these things to clear the snow.

As for crying -- AJ cried three times, Pinkie cried several times, Dash cried three times, Twilight cried several times, Fluttershy and Rarity... no comments.

Two stallions shading some tears vs 6 mares who cry constantly? Let's compare, shall me?

I would post again but Datteboyo, Mienshao, BronyOfJustice and others have so thoroughly destroyed this ridiculous argument that it would just be overkill at this point. Tip of the wzrd hat to everyone who responded so thoughtfully and thoroughly to this topic.

First on the "Why don't stallions cry then" point I would like to point out that I've seen Spike, Big Mac, Discord, and Shining Armor all cry.  The four most prominent male characters have all shed tears at one point or another.  They do cry, we just don't see males crying as much because we don't see males as much.

How do you know stallions aren't wearing makeup?  Can you prove that Jet Set and Fancy Pants don't put makeup on before their big social circle events?  This is another case of only seeing mares doing it because mares are the only ponies that we follow.  Even then the idea that women can't wear makeup is a mysoginistic, backwards point of view.

Oh? Then why stallions don't wear make up if it's not a sign of weakness? Can't tell? I'll explain, why. Because it IS a sign of weakness and unability to do anything more than gossiping and shoppig.

Also, with this sentence right here, you've just contradicted yourself, you claim that the show staff is sexist...yet you make remarks like this. This is not only a hasty generalization, but also a dangerous stereotype.

About crying, I suggested to compare amount of stallions crying and mares crying.

The same with make up. How many mares wear it and how many stallions wear it? Compare amounts.

You didn't raise a sharp topic you completely disregarded all of our counter points. You didn't even try to rebut them, instead you used an ad hominem attack, claiming our arguments are invalid by calling us sexist. Yeah, childish insults are real effective in debates

I didn't mean to insult you or others. If I did, I'm sorry. I just told obvious thing, that's all. A fact, if you'd like. It's not wrong to call a tree... well, a tree.

Did you not just say this?

Now, about mane 6. I'm not talking about them. They are main characters, so they don't count.

Its not hard to believe that a majority of the scenes with ponies crying would involve the Mane 6 since they make up like 75% of the show if not more.

Sure, as soon as you tell me how many males in real life wear make-up.

In real life there is sexism and discrimination. I thought that MLP avoided it. I guess, I was wrong.

So what? Discord and Spike and often on the screen, too. Why not them? And Spike doesn' count, 'cause he's still a kid.

So, nobody would tell me, why there were no mares pulling that train? Only stallions?

We're sexist because we're sexist. Wow, what an amazingly complex and well thought out argument. Boy you really got me there. Guys, it's over, The ElementofSolitude won! They proved us wrong, we ARE sexist. And this show is sexist. Absolutely incredible insight, unlike anything ever seen before! Tip of the hat to you sir, you are truly and exceptional human being

I answered it, you nitpicky lemon-eater.

Sure, there are guys pulling those

There is no way you can know that slightly offscreen, there is a woman doing the same, and you are sexist if you think otherwise.

EVEN IF NOT. JUST BBECAUSE IT DOESN'T SHOW IT, does not mean IT DOESN'T EXIST.

LET'S NOT FORGET, ffs, that these are background ponies, put in the show JUST to take up space

I assure you, that there was no second-thoughts and hidden agendas when the makers of the show were adding them in

You've still missed one major flaw in your argument....since when does make-up=weakness

Maybe because make up means that you try to attracts men's attention, so you could find someone who's gonna pay for you all the time and you won't do anything? Or maybe because all ladies, who aren't capable of any deeds aside from gossiping wear makeup? Or maybe because wearing make up means being a woman, and according to society's logicl being a weak?

I didn't see it in the show. We can only tell solid FACTS that were shown, not just our headcanons and assumptions.

In real life there are illogical, agenda-driven people who nitpick and read into every little nuance in society and claim it to be sexist. I thought MLP forums avoided it. I guess I was wrong.

Spike has cried multiple times throughout the series, and if I'm remembering correctly Discord DID cry in the S4 finale.

As for the Stallions pulling the Train, just because you don't see mares pulling the train in that one particular instance, doesn't mean they dont ever pull trains, it simply means that one particular group happens to be comprised of males.

It really seems like you watched this show just to look for sexism, as you seem to be pointing out every isolated incident that could possibly be seen as sexist against mares, and ignore the other 95% of the show that show Mares as being completely equal.

Well, I'm paying attention to small details. Nothing wrong with it. Truth is bulided from these details anyway.

Show me at least on provement of equality. Royal Guards females? Nope. Taxi drivers females? Nope. What else? Can you point on it?

No you're not. You're cherry-picking things that support your ridiculous claim and are then moving goal posts and contradicting yourself when people refute you. Every post you make is full of logical fallacies and lacks any objectivity whatsoever.

I don't think so. I'm just trying to show discrimination, that's all. There are many people who do that everyday. I just picked the show instead of real life.

So that one taxi driver is what you're going off of? What if he was female? By your logic, that would be sexist toward men.

Also...

Hasty generalization is an informal fallacy of faulty generalization by reaching an inductive generalization based on insufficient evidence—essentially making a hasty conclusion without considering all of the variables.

That kind of depends on how you look at it, you could also take these things as sexism against stallions, and say they are just being forced to do all of the menial work, while mares take all of the positions of power. I don't think this is the case either, but it would make just as much sense as your arguments.

As others have said we have only seen a couple taxi drivers, so point means absolutly nothing, and its possible that the animators were just lazy with the royal guard and just copy/pasted the same model for all of the guards, instead of making a female guard model.

Holy sh*t, that was sexist as f*ck.

Hey, I'm usually the first to denounce people who cry "SEXISM SEXISM WAAAHH", but...wowza.

Well played.

It's normal, actually. I never seen a woman who would want to pay for herself or work, when there are men to pay for her.

Gee I dunno, perhaps maybe every lesbian woman in existence.

Lesbians don't count. I'm talking about straight women, because they attracted to men.

And since I think I may have been the first to call you a troll I will tell you why.  I did so since you seemed to be more hating on the show than actually analyzing the show.  Many of your conclusions are faulty and arguments based upon nitpicking overanalysis.  It seems so nitpicky and silly that it very strongly feels as if you came to the conclusion first and then went to the show seeking support for your position rather than coming to your position based upon the show.

I notice you didn't have the contruction site with Pinkie in Pinkie Pride when you did your picture.  Could that be because she's kicked out by the female foreman?  Then you told us to look at two pics without mares but one you actually had to tell us to ignore the mare in it.  The other pic of the train, do you know they're all stallions?  That last one in line looks to me like it could very easily be a mare re-color of Big Mac.  Even with the blown up picture I can't really tell and to be honest, I don't much care.  As I said before I'm done paying attention to the genders of the ponies 10 seconds in for the most part anyway if it lasts that long.

Yeah, like in the Middle East. In the developed liberal countries of the world discrimination is not something that "many" people do. With the exception of LGBTQ people, there are no groups that have significant discrimination against them

It's just an exuse. We didn't see that in the show.

As for royal guards copypasting... Flash Sentry? He wasn't copy pasted. That guy, from S3 E1? He wasn't copypasted
