SolidTwilight 383 October 31, 2014 Share October 31, 2014 (edited) So I made a scootallo helment the other day http://mlpforums.com/topic/113038-made-a-real-scootaloo-helmet/ and it came out really cool looking so I started to think, what would a rainbow dash helmet made with metallic paint look like? they just happen to make (and only make) all the rainbow colors. So I ordered all the colors (like $80 worth of paint, but I will have lots left over) and got a new helmet today. this is going to be a long job because I am going to have to let the paint dry for a day for each color before I do the next one. I came up with the layout today. it was hard to do because the show is in 2d and I had to come up with a 3d layout. also there are no ears on the helmet to work around. anyway, what do you all think so far? SolidTwilight 383 November 2, 2014 Author Share November 2, 2014 (edited) been working all day on it. I have go wait 10 minutes in between cotes and 1 hour in between each color. so with about 4 to 5 cotes per color and 6 colors, that is 10 hours just for the 6 colors! that is just drying time thought. there is about 20 mimutes of masking per color. It is coming out really cool so far and I can't wait to see how it look with all the mask off. here is a layer by layer look at the red so you can see the the change in color in layer. all done for the night, tomorrow I will add the blue pin stripe and paint the rest (what is sliver now) blue. SolidTwilight 383 November 2, 2014 Author Share November 2, 2014 Up to the clear cote! also I did the blue pin strip this morning. wow this takes a long time. it only take me about a minute to do each cote but then I have to wait 10 minutes for the next one. it is not really enough time to do something else so I have just been sitting around for 2 days waiting for stuff to dry for 10 minutes.
