In recent light of things, ie the aperture science April foolishness, I had hit a bit of a creative block then I was like DUHHHH. So this is a My Little Pony Friendship is Still Alive~

Nice! It amazes me to see that my little day of Portal-themed shenanigans actually inspired you to create a piece of fan music. A pretty good-sounding one, too. I like your realistic use of reverb, and the success with which you managed to blend the two melodies together.

 

What I would criticize is the extremely barebones instrumentation. I could only pick out 3 or 4 different voices throughout the piece, and I feel you could have been a lot more adventurous in this regard. I know from personal experience that writing for a 20- or even 50-piece orchestra is a heck-load of work, but this ultimately sounds a closer to a draft in need of arrangement than a finished piece.

 

You've already done what I think is the most difficult part of the task, which is to separate your melody and bass into several lines. Pass the parts around between different instruments, double them across instruments, create harmonized versions of them - there is a lot you can do. Finally, you could use a percussion section as well.

Wow! I have to say, that is pretty amazing! I do agree with Feld0 though, I think a little percussion would have tied the whole song together very nicely! (By the way, is there a download link somewhere? )

Thanks a lot for the critique feldo, the song originally just started off as a joke haha, It only has 3 voices and was meant to be rather simple but maybe I can make it a full fledged orchestration~ I'm currently working on a bigger project you'll have to hear when I'm Done

Maybe there could be a story behind all of this, "My Little Pony Friendship is Still Alive" A pony in a emotionless environment, must go through trials to discover why she is testing these things, she escapes and finds others who have fled the testing facility, they rise up to free the others and bring Friendship back to Equestria! Just saying, this would make a great fanfic.

If you ever thought about editing this song, I had a suggestion or two. If I remember correctly from remixing the main theme, it's written in cut time? If so, a concert snare drum part was playing in my head the whole song. If you did a single quarter note on beat 1 and 3, then a buzz roll on beats 2 and 4? Being a drummer myself, stuff like this comes naturally to me, making up rhythms for songs where they might be needed. Not to criticize the song or anything. It's magnificent! I agree with a lot of what Feld0 said though. Also, maybe at some points in the song a glockensphiel could accompany the main melody? Just suggestions though, It is your song after all.

The new version, it's so beautiful... I want to cry tears of joy! Wait, I am! This is like my new favorite song EVER! All the clever uses of percussion instruments warmed my heart! The marimbas, the glockenspiel, the tambourine, the shaker, the bass drum, ALL OF IT! I'm so in love with this song right now I'm going to loop it for hours! Great job! I LOVE IT!

I can definately put up a .OGG thats the same thing as Flac right? Also the whole thing was made in FL Studio 10 and using lots of East West Stuff

No, an OGG is a lossy file format. FLAC is lossless. If you export a WAV, you can convert it to a FLAC using Audacity, Foobar2000, or FFMPEG (you could also just upload the WAV, but it's going to be a massive file).

 

East West, nice. I use their libraries for my music, too. Good stuff - it explains why it sounds so natural and realistic. I've yet to give FL Studio a try, though the name comes up again and again online.
