The other people were being bitches to her, yet she was still the most selfless person ever. Not a hint of anger or sadness, just bouncing up and down taking insults. Ignoring the fact that her turn to good at the end of the first movie was one of the worst moments in the series, they didn't try to retcon it, and instead just made her a punching bag.

 

When the sirens tell her that her friends are being bitches, which she finally realizes after all this time. It lasts about 2 minutes and then she rejects, even though she has no reason to. It would have been better if she had been made a human character, who got angry with the others, and had an amount of anger building up before this.Whats worse is that SHE'S THE ONE WHO GIVES THE LESSON. She's suppose to be the person who is learning it as she was the VILLAIN before. But she's completely perfect and didn't need any of their help. Which makes her actions in EQG 1 worse because she bloody well knew there was another way.

She visibly gets closer and closer to the Despair Event Horizon (TV Tropes). And at the end, she simply forwards the lesson she herself learned.

This makes her a Mary Sue? She experiences sadness, regret, and even a moment(s) of anger (Trixie WOULD be the one to do that). What's wrong Sunset fighting to keep her composure? She's already screwed up royally once; she's learned it and is trying to make amends for that.

 

As for her friends being less than helpful to her...well, you are right but I wouldn't go as far as you have. They visibly try to accept her, talk with her as a friend, go with her suggestion on how to reach Twilight, and she just generally hangs out with them.

 

No offense, but I have to disagree with you.
