Princess_Universe 25 March 31, 2015 Share March 31, 2015 Hey fellow artists! I draw myself, and I was wondering if you have any tips for drawing regarding shading, clothing articles, etc. Also, just for the sake of randomness, what are your strengths and weaknesses in drawing ponies? In general? My first newbie post. ^^ Thanks!
Blue Moon 6,341 April 1, 2015 Share April 1, 2015 My advice would be to look at other pieces of artwork while you draw, and pay close attention to how whatever artist you're looking at does whatever it is you need help with. Then, just keep drawing as often as possible. If you practice consistently, you will eventually start to get the hang of it. And the more you practice, the faster you'll get better. However, as for the specific things you pointed out, you could always use real life to your advantage. For lighting/shading, take a bunch of random objects, and experiment with them by putting them in a light, and see how it affects the light source. This should give you a good idea on how light works. As for clothing, you could take clothing you have in real life, and put it on yourself or whatever else you can think of. Pay attention to how gravity affects each part of the article of clothing, and how creases work. Good luck with your art! Hope this helps. 2 Autumn Blue Moon Clear Skies Summer
