@,

It was a beautiful day in the woods, and Nightlight sighed, content, lying in the grass and writing stories in his notebook. It was a lazy late summer afternoon, and nothing had to be done. Nothing to focus on but beautiful nature and the fantasies of his imagination.

Wearing her hat as usual to cover up the deformity of her horn, Spellbind plodded along through the grass. With nothing else to do, she would finish up on her walk through the grass before returning to Ponyville in the hopes something exciting would happen.

Nightlight saw a pony in the distance, walking along. He decided to wave at her. "Hi," he greeted with a humble smile, wondering if he could maybe make a new friend. It wasn't often he found other ponies wandering around in the woods near his home. He noticed the hat on her head as being a beret. Cool.

@,

Spellbind heard a voice and turned her head in its direction. A stallion had taken the time out of his life to say hello to her. Why would he do that? she thought to herself. Nevertheless couldn't just ignore him.

"Hi," she greeted in her emotionally-deprived voice.

Nightlight noticed the lack of emotion in the mare's voice. "Are you okay?" he asked, more curious than ever as to who this pony was. She sounded a bit like one of the characters in his story. The same thought as before made itself known again. Maybe we could be friends?

"Uh, yeah?" said Spellbind looking at the stallion standing there. "Why do you ask?" One might have pictured her saying that in a cold and irritated voice but it was actually quite soft. Spellbind was once again punishing and emotionally abusing herself.

Nightlight noted the softness of the voice. It was pleasant. "Just wondering," he replied with a shrug. She seems like nice, gentle pony, he thought to himself. When he realized he was staring, he asked, "Why are you out here? I don't see that many ponies in the woods."

@,

"I just... like the woods I suppose?" said Spellbind with no better answer for this inqustive pony. "Sometimes exciting things happen in the woods. And that allows for adventure. I like adventure... it distracts me from my life..." Maybe something would happen with this stallion.

Nightlight perked up at the word adventure. He smiled. "I like being distracted from life too. That's why I write stories." He motioned towards his notebook. "Have you been on any adventures before?" Adventure sounded like fun, and Nightlight liked fun. Especially if it meant going to visit his idol in Ponyville: Princess Twilight.

"Yeah... quite a few..." said Spellbind. "Two ship voyages... an encounter with dark magic... there are quite a few to list... I try to get as many opportunities for them as possible..."

"Makes me feel like somepony else..." she went on. "And not the waste of space and energy you see before you."

"Is there an adventure in that book?"

Dark magic...?

Nightlight was taken aback by the mare's negative comment about herself. "Nopony is a waste of energy or space," he said, confused as to why this mare thought this about herself. "And yes, I suppose there's an adventure of sorts in this book. I haven't shown anypony yet, though."

"Oh, I see," said Spellbind. She wondered what was in the book but she thought better than to ask and run the risk of annoying the pony. She hated it when that happened. Unless of course it was a form of revenge.

"Why don't we go into the Everfree Forest?" she suggested.
