Need some help/advice on two potential new OCs I'm creating.

 Their backstories are still a WIP for both of them I do have Ideas but THAT I can do on my own, what I do need help with are names and one design aspect I want help on as well. So this is the first  WIP OC I have right now:

The only thing I need help with for him, and yes that is a he, is a name. He is a (or is supposed to be) a Fluttershy X Big Macintosh second gen but his talent has to do with spiders, not apples so I'm stumped about what to name him, haha. 

 

This second one is the one I need design advice for but first I'll explain why I'm considering this in the first place. So he's meant to be a ruler of a foreign land and I want to know if he should be an alicorn or not. I don't want him to be an alicorn but I'm wondering if it would be the more logical choice. You see, either way he's going to be immortal and he's powerful so those are two qualifications down already but It's not as if he controls a celestial body or a powerful force, he just rules and protects his land and people. We've seen that unicorns can achieve alicorn or near alicorn level magical strength so he would be exactly the same if he was a unicorn anyways. But here is a visual example of a non-alicorn version and an alicorn version (please note the wings suck because I drew them in a hurry as they weren't on the original design plan):

So yeah, thanks to anyone who decides to assist me in my dilemma! I don't usually need help with this kind of stuff but I figured I wouldn't hurt to ask for advice.

hey what about spiderling for the first one and the second i think should just be a really powerful unicorn he looks more ominous that way

As for the second, I highly suggest not taking the alicorn one. Instead, come up with your own reasons. Yes, he can be powerful AND immortal without being one, you just need some creativity. My ponysona is immortal as well because of a sacred well she found deep under the ground, which's water can make one not age for a certain amount of time. Considering your OC is desert themed this 'Well of Life' could be especially useful for you. Also, don't be afraid to give him a relic that makes him strong instead, some egyptian themed golden sickle would fit him very much.
