Tips for a Noob?

Okay, I'm not exactly that great at artwork. I try to focus on digital, which is where I'm more comfortable, but I just can't ever seem to feel happy enough with my drawings. I get to a point where I feel "okay" with them in the end, but I usually feel better about them when I am working on them than when I finish. However I could use some pointers on linework and coloring.

Or some critique on a current thing I'm doing would also be helpful. It's a work in progress so keep that in mind:

I have that same problem. I like it when I'm sketching, but then when I'm finishing it I have to use a different technique so the lines are smoother, but I usually end up losing some of the spirit of the original drawing. :/

I like what you're going for with that Twi sketch, though! I would say just keep going and color and shade it, and then see if you want to maybe redo some of the lines afterwards. Sometimes I do that, I make a quickie color layer where I just carelessly color it in to make sure I like the shape or if I want to redraw something.

(I don't have any suggestions for line work cause that's better than I can do :P)

Self-confidence is what you need. The biggest problem is that you're being too modest, which while not a bad thing per se, too much of it will end up with you thinking that you'll never be as amazing as other artists you look up to. If you really want to fix this, then I'd suggest you ask people for their opinions on what you have drawn and keep that in your head next time. Or alternatively, you should instead look at all of the images you've created and examine what you've done right and what you've done wrong. Or, that's what I'm doing at least. I too think that my art is passable at best, but I try and tell myself that I'll do better next time.

As for the Twilight sketch, I think it looks good so far. As for tips, I would suggest you to try out new art techniques or learn the anatomy of humans. Stuff like this can help you feel more confident on what you want to draw and is a way to develop on your art style. I've started to draw humans lately, for example, but I had to learn about what human anatomy is like. So far, I'm actually pretty proud with the results. I would also suggest things like learning colour psychology, as well as light/shadow reflection.

I hope any of my advice helps you. Good luck. ;)
