Tsukuyomi-MLP 33 July 28, 2015 Share July 28, 2015 So yeah, I'm posting here mainly because I need to bump ideas off people and figure out what would be good or not. Basically, I want to draw a ponysona for myself. I'd be using this for the avatar on this site (and possibly in the sig too) as well as deviantart, and I would also put it in my YouTube vids and whatnot. This character will NOT be used in things like RP's or fanfics. Now, I really aren't worried too much about being original. All I really want was for it to look good and reflect my Japanese heritage. Originally, I was just going to go with some unicorn with kanji for a cutie mark, but I couldn't think of a design that really satisfies me. Then I randomly had an idea, what better way to reflect my Japanese heritage than to use a creature from Japanese mythology! The series has a LOT of mythological creatures in it so why the heck not? I had the idea of having my ponysona be a kitsune. For those of you who don't know what a kitsune is, or are too lazy to hit that link, "kitsune" is the Japanese word for "fox". However, in Japan the word "kitsune" can mean one of two things: a normal fox, or the foxes of Japanese mythology that are said to posses great intelligence and magical powers. In this context, I'm referring to the foxes of Japanese mythology. Now as for color scheme, I haven't decided yet. However, I'm probably not going to go with the standard color scheme depicted in Japan for the kitsune (white fur with a bit of red on the eye's and ears) and am probably going to use some other colors. So, I'm just wondering what people think of this idea. Today's Kanji | Japanese Word of the Day (by Jaxsie)
Odyssey 5,716 July 28, 2015 Share July 28, 2015 Hello @Tsukuyomi-MLP, As you're seeking assistance with giving your ponysona a robust design, I've moved your topic to Creative Resources' Original Character section.
Hazy Skies 1,010 July 29, 2015 Share July 29, 2015 That sounds cool, and with the kitsune also being known to have powerful illusionary magic, it should be easy to adapt your "ponysona" to have many forms, with with similarities so you can still tell it's you in addition to that, if you're not happy with the form or coloring you initially gave it, you could easily change it, saying that the previous form was just an illusion.. Also, later down the road you could maybe add another tail or two to represent the aging and growth of your kitsune character ⁿ-ⁿ

I'm working on a drawing for it. Don't expect it to be done anytime soon though since (to put it bluntly) I suck at drawing, but I'm working on it. I'd still love to hear other opinions! 1 Today's Kanji | Japanese Word of the Day (by Jaxsie)
